Abstract

Catfish pond wastewater, rich in essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, holds significant potential as a primary raw material for liquid organic fertilizer. In Mangir Village, Banyuwangi, this waste is not utilized optimally and is often discharged directly into the environment, causing pollution. This community service activity aimed to empower the Mangir Village Farmers Group through participatory training on converting catfish pond wastewater into environmentally friendly, economically valuable liquid organic fertilizer. The methods implemented included a participatory approach through socialization, technical training in fermentation processes, practical mentoring, and assistance with marketing strategy. The results demonstrated a significant increase in farmers' knowledge and skills in processing waste into high-quality liquid fertilizer. Furthermore, there was a noticeable rise in the group's interest in adopting organic farming practices. This initiative successfully produced a marketable liquid organic fertiliser, contributing to sustainable waste management, reducing environmental pollution, and decreasing farmers' dependence on chemical fertilisers. The activity also introduced the community to the concept of a circular economy, turning waste into a valuable resource. This empowerment model can serve as a reference for other regions seeking to develop sustainable, economically productive agricultural practices.

Abstract

This community service program was carried out as an effort to enhance the ability of elementary school teachers to design and develop creative, economical, and environmentally friendly science learning media. The program took place at SD Negeri Dadakitan 1, involving teachers and fifth-grade students as participants. The method employed was a qualitative descriptive approach consisting of three main stages: (1) initial observation and needs analysis of teachers regarding learning media, (2) implementation of training through material presentation, demonstration, and hands-on practice, and (3) reflection and evaluation of the program outcomes. The results indicated a significant improvement in teachers’ pedagogical competence, creativity, and environmental awareness after participating in the training. Teachers were able to utilize recycled materials such as plastic bottles, straws, and balloons to create innovative learning media for the topic of the respiratory system. The produced media were not only attractive and easy to make but also effective in helping students understand abstract science concepts through concrete learning experiences. Moreover, students showed high enthusiasm and active engagement during the learning process. Overall, this training program successfully promoted the development of innovative and eco-friendly learning media while fostering ecological awareness and sustainable behavior among both teachers and students.

Abstract

The laundry MSME sector is one of the rapidly growing service sectors in urban areas, including Bekasi City. Most business owners still face challenges in using digital technology, managing financial records, and operating in an environmentally friendly manner. Therefore, this Community Service (PKM) activity was carried out through three main programs: business digitalization training (social media, websites, and digital marketing), financial record training using the Accurate Online application, and socialization of the use of environmentally friendly soap made from soap nuts. The PKM program was held on October 18, 2025, at the Taman Harapan Baru Housing Complex, Pejuang Village, Medan Satria District, Bekasi City, in collaboration with Paguyuban Manunggal Karya and Taurus Mitra Aspact Laundry. The implementation included lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, discussions, and technical assistance by a team of lecturers and students. The results of the activity showed an increase in MSMEs' understanding of utilizing digital platforms, the ability to generate automatic financial reports through Accurate Online, and awareness of environmentally friendly business practices. In addition, the activity also included the handover of a washing machine to support the increase in MSME production capacity. This activity has a positive impact and is becoming an empowerment model that can be replicated in other regions.

Abstract

The progressive decline in rice productivity, currently reaching 7–8 tons/ha in Klaseman Village, is primarily attributed to soil fertility degradation resulting from the intensive and long-term application of inorganic chemical fertilizers. This environmental challenge necessitates a strategic technology transfer to remediate soil health and enhance farmer self-sufficiency through sustainable practices. This community service initiative aimed to elevate the technical proficiency and managerial capacity of the "Gotong Royong I" Farmer Group in the production and systematic application of Nano-particle Enhanced Compost (NEC). Utilizing a participatory approach, the program integrated theoretical socialization, hands-on manufacturing practice, and intensive field mentoring on a 0.5-hectare demonstration plot involving 25 participants. Empirical results demonstrate that 100% of the participants achieved mastery in independent NEC production, successfully generating 400 kg of the enhancer. Field implementation facilitated a 50% reduction in conventional chemical fertilizer dosage while yielding superior vegetative growth and improved soil vitality compared to control plots. Ultimately, this program effectively bridges the gap between laboratory innovation and community adoption, establishing a circular economy model that supports long-term agricultural sustainability.

Abstract

This study examines a community engagement initiative aimed at enhancing the entrepreneurial competencies of santri at an Islamic boarding school in West Java, Indonesia. The programme was implemented on 1 November 2025 and involved more than 200 santri. Employing an experiential learning approach, the intervention consisted of interactive training sessions, Business Model Canvas workshops, and experience-sharing activities with successful entrepreneurs who were alumni of Islamic boarding schools. The instructional content covered fundamental entrepreneurship concepts, development of the entrepreneurial mindset, opportunity identification, digital marketing, basic financial management, and Islamic entrepreneurship principles. Pre-test results indicated that 65% of participants had a limited understanding of entrepreneurship, whereas post-test findings revealed substantial improvement, with 85% demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of core entrepreneurial concepts.
