Abstract

Teungku Chik Muhammad Amin is a scholar from Aceh who is descended from South Yemen's Arab community. Along with promoting society's understanding of Islam and the fight against Dutch forces, he is a person who is quite tenacious. This study's objectives were to learn more about Teungku Chik Muhammad Amin's life, identify his remains, and assess their state of preservation. The explicative (explanatory) or descriptive methods used in this study give a general overview of the archaeological data discovered in terms of time, form, and space as well as demonstrating the correlation between various research variables. In Meunasah Mancang Village, Tiro Truseb District, Pidie Regency, data were gathered by direct observation, interviews, literature reviews, and documentation. Aspects of the data's morphology, technology, and stylistic composition were characterized and examined. The identification has revealed various Teungku Chik Muhammad Amin relics, including Zawiyah Cut, a study hall, an old pond or ablution site, and an old well. Teungku Chik Muhammad Amin's remains have similarly gotten less attention from the parties involved, as seen by their current state. The government of Pidie Regency and other relevant parties are urged to be able to preserve this historical legacy as the cultural heritage of the Acehnese people.

Abstract

One of the three-year Dutch schools in Aceh is called People's School (Volkschool). Starting with the few Acehnese who are aware that there were once schools built by Dutch colonialists in Aceh before the foundation of schools as they are now. Because the history of the People's School (Volkschool) is not widely known among Acehnese, it makes for a very fascinating study subject. By using library research methods (Library Research) and oral sources (interviews). This study uses historical research methods, namely heuristics (data collection), source criticism (data verification), interpretation (data analysis), and historiography. The results showed that the first People's school (Volkschool) was formed in Aceh on December 30, 1907 in Ulee Lheu. This was motivated by the Dutch goal of realizing the desire of the Dutch East Indies government to spread education as widely as possible at the lowest possible cost. the three years of instruction at the People's School (Volkschool). The reading, writing, and math components of the Volkschool curriculum are its format. The Dutch colonialists paid for the classroom supplies, including slate and grip writing implements. Parents of pupils are required to cover expenses ranging from 10 cents to 15 cents. No fees were ever taken from pupils, not even in the early years of the school's existence or towards the conclusion of the colonial era. The Acehnese may be employed by the Dutch colonialists even though the wages were extremely poor after receiving an education at this institution. Although the Dutch colonialists initially forced the people of Aceh to send their children to the People's School (Volkschool), this compulsion ultimately led to exceptional outcomes. Where the people of Aceh may produce an enlightened generation like the one we have today and are no longer illiterate in Latin.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the revitalization of Teungku Chik Pante Kulu's tomb. He is a cleric in Aceh and the author of Hikayat Prang Sabi, a saga that sparked the spirit of the Acehnese in the war against the Dutch. Apart from the manuscript, his existence can be proven through his grave, which is in the village of Lam Leot, Kuta Cot Glie Subdistrict, Aceh Besar District. The results of the study found that this tomb dates from 1836. His grave is marked by a plain tombstone and has been renovated so that it no longer displays the characteristics of an ancient tomb. Through this study, it is known that the way to revitalize this grave is by promoting the role and contribution of Teungku Chik Pante Kulu in defending Aceh from the Dutch. This method is considered very effective because it can increase public knowledge so that the tomb of Tengku Chik Pante Kulu becomes a historical tourist destination in Aceh. The existence of the tomb is also a source of historical, archaeological, and cultural knowledge for the next generation.
