Abstract

Background: Temper tantrums often occur in early childhood and can disrupt learning and social interaction in kindergarten settings. Specific background: At one kindergarten in Kaliorang District, repeated tantrums among students led teachers to develop structured strategies. Knowledge gap: Although tantrums are common, there is limited research exploring practical classroom-based programs designed by teachers themselves in Indonesian early childhood contexts. Aims: This study examines the structure, application, and challenges of the “Gentle Heart” program designed to manage temper tantrums in kindergarten. Results: Using a qualitative case study involving two experienced teachers over three months, findings show that the program reduces tantrum intensity and frequency through a calm–reflect–guide approach. Teachers allow emotional expression, wait for children to regain calm, and then engage them in reflective dialogue. Novelty: The study highlights a locally developed, teacher-led program that integrates emotional regulation strategies without external psychological intervention. Implications: The program offers a practical framework for early childhood teachers to manage tantrums in class, emphasizing the need for teacher assistants to sustain learning during tantrum episodes. Highlight Teachers apply structured emotional regulation steps to manage tantrums. The program shows reduced frequency and intensity of temper tantrums. Abstract

A 15-year-old female patient presented with severe anterior crowding in both the maxillary and mandibular arches. The patient expressed concern regarding facial esthetics and a convex profile and had a history of retained root fragments in the mandibular right and left first molars, as well as persistence of primary teeth in the regions of teeth 55 and 65. A midline deviation was also observed. Clinical examination revealed a Class I molar relationship, while cephalometric analysis showed a skeletal Class II tendency. The upper right and left first premolars were extracted to relieve anterior crowding. The space resulting from the loss of the mandibular first molars was utilized to align the crowded lower teeth. This extraction strategy was employed to improve the vertical dimension and enhance the patient's facial profile. In conclusion, extraction of the maxillary first premolars can be considered as one of the treatment options for managing dental crowding. Extraction-based treatment may help achieve an esthetically pleasing and functionally stable occlusion. Highlights: Severe anterior crowding managed with upper first premolar extractions. Abstract

To power low-power household appliances, this study investigates the harvesting of RF signal energy using a Villard–Dickson rectifier circuit and a 470 MHz dipole antenna. The RF signal from the handy talkie is converted into DC voltage when measured from a distance of 5 to 25 cm. The voltage drops from 7.7V to 1.5V, and the current drops from 30mA to 10mA. A relationship showing the voltage and current decreasing almost inversely with distance was found thru logarithmic regression data analysis. A high coefficient of determination indicates compatibility with free-space propagation theory. At a distance of 5 cm, the highest RF-to-DC conversion efficiency reached 18.3%. The resulting regression model allows for performance prediction at distances beyond testing and serves as a practical guide for building wireless power transmission systems and low-power IoT applications. Additionally, this model also serves as a scientific reference for research and dissertations in the field of RF energy harvesting. Highlights: RF-to-DC conversion achieved up to 18.3% efficiency at 5 cm. Voltage and current decrease inversely with distance, supported by logarithmic regression. Abstract

General background: The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed education, particularly in the development of innovative learning media such as electronic modules (E-modules). Specific background: In higher education, especially within Muhammadiyah universities, learning is not only directed at mastering academic content but also at fostering Islamic character through the integration of Al Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) values. This integration is highly relevant in abstract subjects like Linear Algebra, where students often face challenges in conceptual understanding. Knowledge gap: While prior studies have demonstrated the benefits of E-modules for enhancing mathematical comprehension and motivation, limited research has specifically investigated the combined effect of E-modules and AIK value integration on both learning outcomes and character formation. Aims: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a Linear Algebra E-module integrated with AIK values in improving student learning outcomes and strengthening Islamic character. Results: Using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, findings revealed an increase in average student scores from 55.8 (pre-test) to 81.5 (post-test), with an N-Gain of 0.59, categorized as moderate-to-high effectiveness. Novelty: This research uniquely bridges technological innovation in digital learning with the pedagogical mission of Muhammadiyah education, offering a holistic approach that combines cognitive mastery with spiritual and character development. Implications: The study provides theoretical contributions to educational technology by demonstrating the value of integrating religious-based frameworks into digital learning tools, while practically offering a model for educators to design character-based digital media that enhances both academic achievement and moral values. Highlights: Integration of AIK values into digital learning enhances both academic and character development. E-Module implementation shows significant improvement in student performance (N-Gain = 0.59). Offers a novel model combining technology-based learning with Islamic pedagogical principles. Abstract

Dental caries is one of the most common health issues among young children, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the relationship between toothbrushing frequency and the prevalence of dental caries in children aged 3–5 years at TK Aisyiyah Kemantren Tulangan, Sidoarjo. A quantitative, cross-sectional design was used with a total of 38 child respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires given to parents, addressing children's toothbrushing habits and caries incidence. Results showed that 5-year-old children had a higher prevalence of caries (76.47%) compared to those aged 3 and 4. A total of 14 children (36.85%) experienced caries, while 24 children (63.15%) did not. Children who brushed their teeth twice a day had a lower caries prevalence (30%) than those who brushed once a day (70%). The study also highlighted the role of parental supervision in toothbrushing habits and its association with reduced caries incidence. Additionally, frequent consumption of sugary foods was identified as a contributing factor. In conclusion, a higher frequency of toothbrushing is associated with a lower prevalence of dental caries. Oral health education involving parents and a holistic approach to oral hygiene are crucial in preventing dental caries in children. Ongoing education programs at both school and home environments are necessary to promote proper oral hygiene behaviors from an early age. Abstract

General background. Digital transformation is central to modernizing public services and improving administrative reliability. Specific background. At the Tomohon City Land Office, manual task letter issuance and attendance monitoring often cause delays and errors. Knowledge gap. Previous research largely focused on GPS-based attendance systems without integrating automated task letter generation. Aims. This study aims to develop a web-based information system integrating task letter automation and geospatial attendance validation using the Haversine algorithm. Results. The system automatically generates task letters, embeds geolocation data, and verifies officer attendance within a specified radius in real time. Testing confirmed accurate distance calculations, reduced administrative errors, and improved task monitoring. Novelty. The integration of Haversine-based geospatial validation with administrative automation in the land sector represents a unique contribution to digital governance. Implications. The system provides a scalable model for modernizing bureaucratic processes and supports Indonesia’s e-government initiatives through accurate, real-time monitoring of field activities. Abstract

General Background: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is a common structural or functional abnormality of the heart and great vessels that increases the risk of infective endocarditis, especially in pediatric patients. Specific Background: Children with complex defects such as subaortic Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) accompanied by Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and pulmonary hypertension are particularly vulnerable to oral infections that can lead to systemic complications. Knowledge Gap: Despite the recognized link between oral health and CHD, comprehensive protocols for dental “mouth preparation” under general anesthesia to minimize bacteremia and endocarditis risk before cardiac surgery remain limited. Aims: This case report describes a multidisciplinary approach to full-mouth preparation in a 4.5-year-old boy with VSD subaortic, ASD, and severe pulmonary hypertension, focusing on infection elimination, anesthesia management, and prophylactic strategies. Results: Treatment included restorations with Glass Ionomer Cement for reversible pulpitis, multiple extractions of necrotic teeth under general anesthesia, preoperative laboratory and radiological screening, American Society of Anesthesiologists assessment, and antibiotic prophylaxis with intravenous ampicillin followed by oral amoxicillin. Postoperative recovery was uneventful, with stable vital signs and satisfactory wound healing after one week. Novelty: This report highlights the integrated collaboration of pediatric dentistry, cardiology, and anesthesiology to ensure airway control, hemodynamic stability, and asepsis during extensive dental procedures in high-risk CHD patients. Implications: The findings underscore the importance of rigorous preoperative dental management and continuous preventive care—including parental education, low-sugar diet counseling, and regular dental visits—to reduce long-term risks of caries recurrence and infective endocarditis in children with congenital heart defects. Highlights: Comprehensive dental preparation prevents infective endocarditis risk. Multidisciplinary approach ensures safe anesthesia and hemodynamic stability. Abstract

Background: Safe and comfortable road pavement is a fundamental requirement, yet most designs rely on empirical methods that limit the ability to analyze detailed structural behavior. Specific Background: Analytical methods allow comprehensive evaluation of pavement layer strength, enabling faster and more precise calculations. Knowledge Gap: Limited studies have applied Bisar 3.0 guided by the Nottingham Design Method to calculate strain and service life in pavements using CTB (Concrete Treated Base) and Class B aggregate layers. Aim: This study applies the Bisar 3.0 program to determine road service life under fatigue cracking and permanent deformation criteria. Results: Calculations show analytical methods predict a longer service life (~±20 years) than empirical methods. Higher foundation stiffness and low average daily traffic reduce service life, and fatigue cracking criteria indicate a longer lifespan than permanent deformation. Novelty: Integration of Bisar 3.0 with Nottingham Design Method for precise service life estimation provides a detailed analytical approach rarely applied in road pavement studies. Implications: Findings support engineers in optimizing pavement design, selecting appropriate layer materials, and predicting long-term road performance more accurately. Abstract

General Background: Timely completion of construction projects is critical for operational efficiency and cost management. Specific Background: The New Classroom Building Project at SMPN 2 Mantup-Lamongan experienced delays caused by human resources, material availability, and weather conditions, highlighting challenges in project scheduling and risk management. Knowledge Gap: Limited studies provide quantitative assessments of combined environmental, material, and workforce factors on construction delays in local school infrastructure projects. Aims: This study aims to analyze the magnitude of time delays, identify dominant risk factors, and propose mitigation strategies to manage project risks effectively. Results: Data from 45 respondents using questionnaires and analyzed via SPSS revealed that rainfall intensity (21.6%), workforce skill (16.8%), and worker discipline (14.4%) were the leading contributors to delays, with an overall project delay of 6 days compared to the planned schedule. Novelty: The research integrates Critical Path Method calculations with survey-based risk assessment to provide a precise, practical strategy for local construction projects. Implications: Findings offer actionable guidance for contractors and project managers to optimize resource allocation, reduce delays, and improve project reliability. Highlights: Rainfall intensity identified as the highest delay factor. Workforce skill and discipline significantly affect project duration. Abstract

Background: Islamic education has long served as the foundation for shaping character and civilization, but institutional quality often lags behind rapid quantitative growth. Specific Background: Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) are frequently treated as administrative tools, detached from the spiritual values inherent in Islamic education. Knowledge Gap: Few studies have integrated modern management approaches with Islamic ethical principles to build a comprehensive conceptual framework for M&E in Islamic educational settings. Aim: This study explores a value-based M&E model in Madrasah Aliyah Diponegoro Yogyakarta, examining its role in institutional governance. Results: The findings show that M&E functions as a reflective and participatory mechanism that aligns modern quality management with Islamic ethics, strengthens moral identity, and supports sustainable governance. Novelty: This research proposes a synthesized model that bridges technical evaluation methods and spiritual values, positioning M&E as a strategic governance tool rather than a bureaucratic requirement. Implications: The model offers theoretical and practical contributions for policymakers and Islamic educational institutions aiming to establish value-integrated, participatory, and sustainable governance systems.
