Abstract

The increasingly fierce competition in the hotel industry in Makassar City requires hotels to improve the quality of service through strengthening the competence of human resources (HR) and providing adequate facilities to increase consumer satisfaction and hotel occupancy rates. This study aims to analyze the influence of human resource competencies and hotel facilities on hotel occupancy rates with consumer satisfaction as a mediating variable. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method of 62-star hotel guests in Makassar City who were selected using convenience sampling techniques. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method to test the direct and indirect relationships between variables. The results of the study show that human resource competence has a positive and significant effect on hotel occupancy rates, but does not have a significant effect on consumer satisfaction so that satisfaction does not mediate the relationship. On the other hand, hotel facilities have a significant effect on consumer satisfaction, but do not have a direct effect on hotel occupancy rates, but have a significant indirect influence on occupancy rates through consumer satisfaction as a mediating variable. These findings suggest that improving the quality of facilities that are able to meet consumer expectations will increase customer satisfaction which ultimately drives an increase in hotel occupancy rates.

Abstract

Local food security is a strategic issue in sustainable development, especially amidst challenges in food distribution, unequal access, and increasing nutritional needs of the community. Strengthening community-based food systems has encouraged the emergence of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDMP) as a village economic aggregator and the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) through public kitchens as food providers for vulnerable groups. The collaboration between these two institutions is seen as capable of shortening the supply chain, increasing the absorption of local products, and strengthening the people's economy. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation studies, and focus group discussions, then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to obtain a comprehensive contextual understanding. The research findings indicate that collaboration between KDMP and public kitchens has significant potential to build a more organized food distribution chain, provide a stable market for village products, and create economic opportunities for local communities. However, institutional fragmentation, technological limitations, varying procurement mechanisms, and the lack of quality standards remain key obstacles. This study concludes that collaborative business models can be an effective strategy for building an inclusive and resilient local food ecosystem if supported by strengthened governance, supply chain digitalization, and cross-sector partnerships. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of collaborative governance and community-based business models by demonstrating that synergy between local organizations can increase food system resilience while expanding the role of cooperatives as community economic institutions. Consequently, local governments and program managers need to promote collaborative regulation, institutional capacity building, and investment in logistics infrastructure to ensure the sustainability of village-based food systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of internal audit in strengthening corporate governance. This study focuses on the risk management and compliance aspects of an organization's ability to comply with accepted standards, laws, and regulations, especially in this era of digital transformation. Internal audit plays a crucial role in reviewing the suitability of internal control systems, risk management, and compliance. The application of technology in internal audit has enabled increased risk detection efficiency while ensuring better compliance. This study uses a comparative approach, comparing companies that have switched to digital technology systems for internal audit with companies that still use traditional methods. Data collection comes from interviews, surveys, and document analysis of 200 respondents (internal auditors, audit committee members, and senior managers) in 50 companies. Newly introduced digital technologies in internal audit have been shown to strengthen risk management and compliance, thereby improving overall corporate governance. Organizations with strong governance structures, having more independent directors and more effective audit committees, tend to be more successful in risk management. The study also found that clear policies on internal control play a very important role in improving compliance. However, issues such as unreliable investment costs, complete system integration, and resistance from top management remain barriers to implementing digital technologies in internal audit.

Abstract

While agritourism plays a crucial role in diversifying the income of cacao farmers in Bali, the sector still faces serious challenges including management inefficiencies and volatile market fluctuations. Cau Chocolate Bali is currently confronting real-world issues such as a significant decline in visitor numbers and cash flow stagnation due to suboptimal marketing strategies and a lack of innovation in tour packages. This condition creates an urgent need for strategic evaluation to ensure the destination can survive and compete in the sustainable tourism market. This study aims to formulate an agritourism development strategy for Cau Chocolate Bali using a sequential explanatory mixed-methods approach. Data were collected from 35 stakeholders through observation, in-depth interviews, and structured questionnaires, which were then analyzed using the Internal Factor Analysis Summary (IFAS) matrix, External Factor Analysis Summary (EFAS) matrix, Internal-External (IE) Matrix, and SWOT analysis. The results showed an IFAS score of 3.004 and an EFAS score of 2.513, positioning Cau Chocolate Bali in the "Growth and Build" cell (Quadrant IV). These findings indicate that while the destination possesses a competitive advantage through international organic certification, the effectiveness of digital promotion and market penetration still needs to be aggressively improved. Recommended priority strategies include strengthening digital storytelling, integrating community-based tourism, and diversifying cacao-derived products to restore the company's economic stability.

Abstract

To improve the efficiency of agriculture and food crops, the use of modern technology is necessary. Precision Land Management consists of a suite of high-tech tools including sensors, drones, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to monitor land and crop conditions in real time. This allows for optimized utilization of inputs such as water, fertilizer, and pesticides. This paper aims to analyze the economic impact of implementing precision agriculture, focusing on its Life Cycle Cost. This includes not only the initial investment, but also current operations, maintenance, and future savings (although there may be some uncertainty regarding the actual costs). This study used Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA). The results show that the implementation of precision agriculture reduces resource consumption. For example, sensors have reduced water use in West Java by 30%, and variable fertilizer application based on Sumatra has reduced fertilizer consumption by 40%. However, the main obstacle is the high initial investment costs, which are a burden for smallholder farmers. Therefore, policies that support the adoption of precision agriculture technologies through various means such as fiscal incentives and training are urgently needed, and it is also important to ensure that such tools can be freely used by farmers throughout Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Co-Leadership (Co-LEAD) model based on Behavioral Competence Transformation (BCT) in improving the performance and collaboration of cooperative teams in Lamongan Regency. The observed phenomenon is the low level of collaboration and the dominance of individualistic leadership that hinders organizational effectiveness. The study used a qualitative interpretive approach with case studies in three cooperatives, namely KUD Minatani, KUD Tani Mulyo, and KPRI Handayani. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that the implementation of BCT-based Co-Leadership consistently improves the quality of collaboration and organizational performance. Empirically, the findings indicate an increase in member involvement in decision-making (marked by the active participation of all administrators in strategic forums), an increase in the intensity of communication and coordination between administrators, and an increase in operational efficiency reflected in the acceleration of administrative task completion and more transparent and accountable financial management. In addition, a more equitable distribution of roles contributes to increased organizational responsiveness to member needs and a strengthened sense of ownership among cooperative administrators and members. Theoretically, this study makes a significant contribution to the development of collaborative leadership literature by offering a conceptual integration between Co-Leadership and Behavioral Competence Transformation as behavioral mechanisms that explain the relationship between collective leadership structures and improved team performance. This study expands the study of shared leadership by emphasizing that the effectiveness of Co-Leadership is not only determined by role distribution, but also by behavioral competency transformation that includes aspects of communication, collective decision-making, and conflict resolution. These findings enrich the academic discourse by providing a contextualized behavior-based model in community-based cooperative organizations, which was previously limited in the literature.

Abstract

Access to external financing remains one of the most critical challenges limiting the investment capacity of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly those operating under Sharia principles. While prior studies have extensively examined the relationship between financial constraints and investment decisions in large firms, limited attention has been given to the internal financial mechanisms that enable Sharia-compliant MSMEs to cope with such constraints. This study addresses this gap by examining the role of cash holding as a mediating mechanism linking financial constraints and investment decisions among Sharia MSMEs in Indonesia. Data were collected through a structured survey of 200 MSME owners or managers and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), with mediation effects assessed through bootstrapping procedures. The results reveal that financial constraints exert a significant negative effect on investment decisions (β = −0.938, p < 0.01), while simultaneously increasing cash holding (β = 0.347, p < 0.01). Cash holding, in turn, positively influences investment decisions (β = 0.643, p < 0.01) and significantly mediates the relationship between financial constraints and investment behavior (β = 0.325, p < 0.01). The structural model demonstrates strong explanatory power, with R² values of 0.932 for cash holding and 0.828 for investment decisions. These findings suggest that cash holding functions as a financial buffering mechanism that partially mitigates the adverse impact of financing constraints on MSME investment activity. By integrating financial constraints, internal liquidity management, and investment behavior within a single analytical framework, this study extends entrepreneurial finance research into the domain of Islamic MSME finance and provides practical insights for policymakers and Islamic financial institutions seeking to improve access to Sharia-compliant financing and support sustainable MSME investment.

Abstract

Maritime security has evolved beyond traditional military concerns to encompass multidimensional non-traditional threats, particularly at the local governance level. This study analyzes the securitization process of the Integrated Maritime Security Post (Poskamladu) at Tamperan Port within the maritime security system of Pacitan Bay. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The analysis applies the Copenhagen School’s securitization framework, focusing on securitizing actors, existential threats, speech acts, and referent objects. The findings indicate that Poskamladu functions as a securitizing actor by framing non-traditional issues—illegal fishing, coastal spatial conflicts, and disorderly port activities—as existential threats to marine sustainability, community stability, and local economic security. Unlike classical securitization models emphasizing formal declarations, securitization at Tamperan occurs through informal, practice-based speech acts embedded in mediation, coordination, and licensing control. However, the effectiveness of this securitization process is constrained by fragmented authority, limited infrastructure capacity, and insufficient preparedness for technology-based threats. This study contributes theoretically by extending securitization analysis to subnational maritime governance and highlighting the role of informal institutional practices in constructing security threats.

Abstract

Secure cloud infrastructure is necessary for Indonesia's e-learning to undergo a digital transition. This study examines how a data security framework is implemented on a microservices architecture based on Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). Using a kualitatif approach through case studies, this study integrates the principles of Arsitektur Zero Trust, end-to-end encoding, and service isolation. According to the research findings, this integrated framework can enhance system resilience, speed up security incident response by 65%, and lower the chance of data breaches by up to 87%. The PaaS model's high scalability and inadequate resource control make this framework easily applicable to a variety of other large-scale digital platforms. When creating an e-learning ecosystem that is resistant to cyberattacks, developers and educational institutions can use this research as a strategic guide.
