Abstract

This paper will discuss how to distinguish mushafs written using the official and rasm ilma'i methods. although the difference between the two ways of writing the manuscripts seems simple, the fact is that many people are still confused about how to determine between the two types of ways of writing the manuscripts. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explain what the Ottoman rasm really is and how to recognize and differentiate between the Ottoman rasm and the Imla'i rasm mushaf. The differences in the two ways of writing manuscripts are collected in Al-Qawa'id Al-Sittah, namely al-hazf, al-ziyadah, al-hamzah, al-badal, al-fasl and al-wasl, as well as sentences that read more than one (ma fihi qiro'atani wakutiba ‘ala ihdahuma. Therefore, this article is an attempt by the reviewer to introduce to the public the importance of understanding the rules for writing the Koran according to Rasm Uthmani and rasm imlai. From the description above it can be concluded that between rasm usmani and rasm imlai have differences and similarities. Rasm usmani has specificities and rules which are sometimes written which necessitate differences with the readings. Even so, in rasm-usmani this difference is not a problem, because the recitation of the Koran is still maintained according to the talaqqi path. While rasm imlai is a treasure of conventional Arabic writing that has developed along with the development of Arabic. Rasm usmani is a history of the writing of the Koran which was copied and narrated from the authors of Usman's mushaf. While rasm imlai is pure ijtihad formulated by language experts, both from the Basrah, Kufa and Baghdad schools of thought. Rasm usmani is only specifically for writing verses of the Qur'an, while rasm imlai applies generally to all non-Qur'anic Arabic texts, including hadith qudsi.

Abstract

This article describes the phenomenon of a lunar eclipse and a solar eclipse from the perspective of the Koran and astronomy. This phenomenon has attracted human attention since ancient times and also has meaning and significance in Islamic teachings. In this paper, we carry out a scientific interpretation analysis of verses from the Koran related to lunar eclipses and solar eclipses. We explain how a lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon, and how a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon is between the Earth and the Sun. This research uses the library research method by presenting interpretations from Al-Quran exegetes and relate it to modern astronomical knowledge. Apart from that, we also discuss the significance of astronomy in the Koran and the importance of studying knowledge about the universe in Islam. This article aims to increase Muslims' understanding of the relationship between religion and science, as well as to appreciate the wonders of the universe which reflect the greatness of Allah SWT. The results of this research show that knowledge about eclipses in Islamic religious sources is an important factor that makes Muslims aware of the significance of astronomy.

Abstract

The history of qirā’at development represents a long journey in shaping the recitation of the Qur’an, reflecting the intellectual richness within the Islamic tradition. In the early period, qirā’at emerged as a response to the challenges of preserving the purity and authenticity of the sacred text. Prophet Muhammad, as the recipient of revelation, implored Allah for the Qur’an to be revealed in seven different dialects, giving rise to the term “nuzila al-Qur’an ‘ala sab’ati ahrūf.” This event subsequently led to the diversity of qirāat present in society, including the existence of the seven, ten, and fourteen imams. The process of qirā’at diversity development was also influenced by geographical, social, and cultural factors, resulting in variations in pronunciation and intonation when reciting the Qur’an. In later periods, efforts towards standardization were made to avoid potential differences that could lead to conflicts. The significance of qirā’at history is evident in the preservation of this tradition through the sanad system, connecting generations of Qur’an reciters. Today, the evolution of qirā’at continues to progress, facilitated by technology that supports learning and research in this field. Therefore, a profound understanding of the history of qirā’at development not only enriches religious insights but also remains an integral part of the intellectual and cultural heritage of Islam.

Abstract

This research examines the concept of al-Birr according to Tafsir An-Nur by Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy and its implementation in contemporary life. The Qur'an describes humans as creatures created with the best forms and abilities, and in their social interactions, humans are ordered to help each other in virtue and piety as stated in Surah Al-Maidah verse 2. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature approach, where the main data comes from Tafsir An-Nur and other supporting sources from books, journals, and related documents. The results show that al-Birr in Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy's view includes two main aspects: aspects of faith and belief, as well as aspects of charity and deeds. The aspect of faith includes belief in Allah, the last day, angels, books, and prophets, while the aspect of charity includes the implementation of worship such as prayer and zakat, as well as social virtues such as providing assistance to the needy and being kind to others. The implementation of the concept of al-Birr in modern life emphasises the consistency of faith, the implementation of worship with solemnity, and sincere intentions in charity. True virtue according to the Qur'an and Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy's interpretation is done without seeking popularity or human praise. This research reveals that the relevance of al-Birr in today's life is as a practical guide to living a better and meaningful life, and avoiding phenomena that eliminate the values of piety such as riya' and showing off.

Abstract

Mining knowledge from Sheikh Nawawi Al Bantani's monumental work in the interpretation of Marah Labid will never cease, including the theme of the soul as discussed in this article. This writing aims to present Sheikh Nawawi's perspective on the meaning of the soul in his interpretative work, which is characterized by mystical elements with a distinctive Nusantara flavor. The approach taken involves analytical descriptions of the meaning of the soul, followed by a critical analysis and comparison with other interpreters. From Sheikh Nawawi Al Bantani's interpretation of the eloquence of the meaning of the "Rûh" in the Qur'an, it can be generally understood that the term "ruh" encompasses the concept of something that gives creatures the ability to live (soul). Additionally, it can mean the angel Gabriel or even the Qur'an, signifying mercy and assistance from Allah. As the soul is abstract and holds implicit meanings, the deeper it is explored, the richer its significance becomes. Therefore, this research is conducted to contribute to the world of interpretation, providing insights into the existence of the soul.
