Abstract

Background: Resistance of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis is a condition in which Anti-Tuberculosis (OAT) drugs are unable to kill the Mycobacterium Tuberculosis germs. One type of resistance is Multidrug Resistant Tuberculosis. Multidrug Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is TB caused by TB bacteria that are resistant to 2 types of OAT, namely INH and Rifampin. The consequences if resistance to OAT are deterioration of health, increased costs, prolonged treatment, high rates of therapy failure and death. Objective: This study aimed to determine relationship between age, gender, educational level, occupational, and knowledge level about multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) among tuberculosis patients at the Kanigaran Public Health Center, Probolinggo City. Methods: This study used a cross sectional research design with a sample of 60 respondents with pulmonary TB undergoing treatment at the Kanigaran Public Health Center, Probolinggo City. Data was collected using a questionnaire with an ordinal scale which was then analyzed using the Spearman Rank statistical test. Result: Based on the research results, it was found that only age and educational level had a relationship with knowledge level (r = -.291, p = .024; r = .470, p = .000; respectively). Conclusion: The level of knowledge of TB patients about multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) can be influenced by education level and age, so that health workers can provide an understanding related to MDR-TB according to the level of education and age of the TB patient.

Abstract

Background: Herbs are major players in present day therapy, especially by the locals. However, there are some secondary metabolites present in them that can act as antinutrients when consumed by humans. Thus, it is important to monitor the levels of antinutreints in herbal snuff to save the public, especially in Sokoto (a state battling with challenges of nutrients deficiency and malnutrition). Objective: The objective of this work was to measure levels of cyanide, nitrate, phytate, and oxalate, in herbal snuff in Sokoto, Nigeria. Methods: Snuffs were brought from Sokoto market and subjected to antinutritional analysis according to standard methods and using reagents/materials of analytical grade. Result: The amount of nitrate present in three herbal snuff brands sold in Sokoto, Nigeria show that, nitrate ranges from 18.81 ± 0.9 mg/100g (found in Hajiya Safiya snuff brand) to 21. 82 ± 0.08 mg/100g (found in Hajiya Aisha snuff brand). The concentrations of phytate in 3 brands of herbal snuffs revealed, the highest value (91.164 ± 0.001 mg/100g) was recorded in Hajiya Aisha, and the lowest (4.05 ± 0.04 mg/100g) was observed in Dr Lambo herbal brand. The concentrations of oxalate show that, the highest level (0.0787 ± 0.059 mg/100g) was found in Dr lambo, and lowest (0.0055 ± 0.0001 mg/100g) observed in Hajiya Aisha snuff. Then, levels of cyanide in herbal snuff show, the highest value (25.68 ± 1.45 mg/ 100g) was recorded in Dr Lambo snuff brand, and the lowest level of cyanide was recorded in Hajiya Safiya (19.32 ± 1.04 mg/ 100g). Conclusion: The snuffs contain the assessed antinutrients at levels that are not likely to pose risk.

The ER staff use the methods by phone calling or shouting, if they need a request for assistance in handling resuscitation patients. The team has the potential to feel dissatisfied with the infrastructure at work. Objective: The purposes of this research is to analyse the effect of using a simple alarm bell on the job satisfaction of nurses in the emergency room resuscitation. Methods: The research design used the Pre-Experimental method (One Group Pretest-Posttest). The population in this study were all nurses in the emergency room at the ER of Haji Surabaya General Regional Hospital in Surabaya, totaling 34 nurses. Using the total sampling technique, a sample of 31 nurses was obtained. The independent variable is the simple use of the alarm bell, and the dependent variable is the level of nurse satisfaction. Data collection tool using a job satisfaction level questionnaire. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test. Result: The results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon sign rank test yielded a value of p = 0.051 (0.051> 0.05) then H0 was rejected, which means that there was no significant difference between the level of job satisfaction of nurses before and after using a simple alarm bell. However, the results of the analysis of the average level of satisfaction before and after using the simple bell alarm were 24.52 and 25.35 points. In the total number of assessments, it was found that the average level of satisfaction after using the simple bell alarm was greater than the average level of satisfaction before using the simple bell alarm, there was a difference of 0.83 points. Conclusion: The results of this study can be concluded that Job satisfaction of all nurses in the emergency resuscitation room before using the simple bell alarm was satisfied. Job satisfaction of all nurses in the emergency resuscitation room after using the simple bell alarm was satisfied. There is no significant difference between the level of job satisfaction before and after using the simple alarm bell, but there is an increase in nurse satisfaction points descriptively with the infrastructure that supports their work. The use of a simple alarm bell in this study should be evaluated periodically by the nursing department in the hospital in order to determine its effectiveness in patient care.

Methods: The research methods used are interviews, observation and documentation studies. The design of this research is a case study with synovial sarcoma patient respondents who were given spiritual support nursing interventions. Result: Based on the results of the nursing evaluation, there was a decrease in the level of grieving in patients after being given spiritual support. Conclusion: Thus, the patient's care plan is continued by the ward nurse and encourages the patient and family to use spiritual support as a step to overcome feelings of grief.
