Abstract

This study aims to examine the forms of speech acts in Ida Fitri's novel Paya Nie using a pragmatic approach. This study focuses on three types of speech acts: locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary. The method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through listening and note-taking on quotations in the novel. The results of the study indicate that Ida Fitri's novel Paya Nie contains various forms of speech acts that reflect the dynamics of interaction between characters in the social and cultural context of Acehnese society, which is experiencing conflict. Locutionary acts are found in the form of conveying information, illocutionary acts in the form of expressing feelings and invitations, and perlocutionary acts in the form of emotional effects and changes in the attitude of the addressee.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal three levels of discourse in the pawnshop letters of the British Library collection number EAP 144/3 codes EAP144/3/67 and EAP144/3/82. The methods used are the philological and descriptive-analytical methods. In addition, Teun A. van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis (AWK) approach was used to look at macro, micro, and superstructure discourses. The results show that the word choice and structure of the two letters reflect the form of economic relations and power relations in Minangkabau society.

Abstract

The phenomenon of low literacy levels among Indonesian children urges formal educational institutions to develop an effective literacy culture. This study aims to describe (1) the planning,(2) implementation, and (3) evaluation carried out by Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri Jember in uplifting a literacy culture through children’s literature. This research employed a qualitative approach and analyzed using Cresswell’s data analysis Spiral Technique. The findings indicate that (1) The planning phase of literacy culture development involves preparing school resources and infrastructure, (2) the implementation of literacy culture have different way each madrasag, reflecting the unique characteristics of the respective school, and (3) evaluation is conduct not only through formal testing, but also by facilitating enjoyable activities for students to engage with literacy practices.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate how effective pretests and posttests with gamification in enhancing student learning outcomes in the Indonesian Language course. Learning Indonesian language is often perceived as less engaging, compulsory, theoretical, and comprising abstract concepts. The researcher involved 152 subjects across four different Indonesian language classes, administering pretests and posttests before and after the material was explained. Two types of gamification were employed: Mentimeter in one class and Quizizz for three classes. The results reveal that all classes demonstrated higher posttest scores compared to their pretest scores. This finding suggests that gamification helps students become more engaged, motivated, focused, and better understand the material, as reflected in improved learning outcomes in Indonesian language course.

Abstract

This study examines the satirical language style in the lyrics of the song “Gugatan Rakyat Semesta” by the band .Feast using a cognitive semantic approach. This approach is used to reveal the hidden meaning behind the use of words and phrases in the song lyrics as a form of social criticism. The method used is the distribution method which begins with the application of the basic technique of Direct Element Sharing and is continued with advanced techniques in the form of expansion techniques. The results of this study indicate that there are seven words and eight phrases that contain satirical elements. Cognitive semantics is used to help reveal the critical and stylistic cognition of the music group .Feast. The lyrics of the songs studied reflect the cognition of the music group .Feast which is critical and has its own style. The satirical language style used functions as a means of social criticism that is packaged aesthetically and communicatively in musical works.

Abstract

This research is driven by high school literary learning exercises like evaluating novels, which frequently neglect to address or consider language style and diction. This study attempts to explain the linguistic styles found in Sapardi Djoko Damono's novel Segi Tiga. Techniques for listening and taking notes were used in the data collection process. The study's findings on language style included 278 data, of which 72 were in the simile style, 65 in the metaphorical style, 90 in the personfication type, 3 in the metonymic style, 3 in the synecdoche style, and the remaining 2 in the allegorical language style. 3 data, 11 data for hyperbolic language, 17 data for repetition, 6 data for ironic language, and idiom language.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merujuk pada penerapan pendekatan komunikatif pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia untuk meningkatkan ketrampilan berbicara siswa kelas VII SMPN kota Pekanbaru. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui bagaimana siswa kelas VII dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dengan pendekatan komunikatif  dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah rendahnya keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas VII SMPN Kota Pekanbaru. Kajian penelitian ini penerapan pendekatan komunikatif dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian siswa kelas VII SMPN 20, 40, dan 6 Kota Pekanbaru. Prosedur pengumpulan data dari hasil tes dan observasi. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pendekatan komunikatif dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia pada siswa kelas VII SMPN Pekanbaru dengan nilai sebesar 72% kategori baik.
