Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning of motifs, functions of motifs, and functions of bebet woven fabrics in the Sasak Ende community in terms of education and economy. This study uses a qualitative approach with an ethnographic approach, in-depth interviews, and documentation. We conducted this study in the Sasak Ende Tourism Village, Central Lombok Regency. Data analysis was carried out in the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the kembang komak putiq woven cloth (white komak bean motif) is one of the oldest woven cloths with geometric patterns in the form of vertical lines and horizontal lines, forming a checkered motif that has been woven from generation to generation, Selentang (animal feet, Ragi bararti bumbu Bingkal means "animal feet" (buffalo) and Orong means "road." Maten kao (buffalo eyes) Biwih kaing (mouth of the cloth). The kembang komak putiq woven cloth (white komak flower) contains symbolic meaning and symbolic function in traditional events related to traditional rituals, traditions, and Sasak culture. The symbolic meaning of the motif includes religious values, aesthetic values, and education. This motif presents the identity of Sasak culture, spirituality, and the relationship between humans and the surrounding environment. Currently, the Sasak Ende community uses the kembang komak white woven cloth as an educational and economic value. The community faces challenges in sustainably inheriting weaving skills because of the rapid influence of technology, lifestyle changes, education, and contemporary demands on the current generation.

Abstract

The syllabus and lesson plan play significant roles in the success of a teacher's instruction. The regulation of the Indonesian government has required teachers to design lessons in the form of a syllabus and lesson plan. Madania School, particularly in the Lower Secondary Department, has supported teachers by organizing lesson plan meetings to help them apply the government program. The aims of this study were to find out how the lower secondary teachers in Madania School Makassar perceive a curriculum, which is a syllabus and lesson plan; how the syllabus is effectively used in a lesson plan meeting; and how the lesson plan is effectively implemented in the classroom. The study applied mixed-method research, which examined the perception of teachers on the function and effectiveness of the syllabus and lesson plan, measured the effectiveness of the usage of the syllabus in the lesson plan meeting, and measured the effectiveness of lesson plan implementation in the classroom. The research was conducted in grades 7 and 8 at Madania Lower Secondary School of Makassar. The research finds that lesson plan meetings enable the teachers to discover various activities to do in the class. But since not all lesson plan components are used in class, there is no strong link between lesson plan implementation and teachers' views of the curriculum.

Abstract

It is important for schools to improve students' mathematical communication. However, a preliminary study at Public Middle School 1 Bulango Selatan revealed that some students still struggle to solve problems given by the teacher, particularly those related to determining the length of a side of a flat shape, especially in the context of congruence and similarity. Therefore, the intent of this study was to determine the effect of the flipped classroom learning model assisted by Instagram on students' mathematical communication at Public Middle School 1 Bulango Selatan. The method used in this study was an experimental method consisting of an experimental class and a control class with a research design used, namely a post-test-only group design. We conducted a t-test data analysis on both the experimental and control classes. The findings of the study showed that the t-count was greater than the t-table value; specifically, the t-count was 2.083, which is greater than 2.042, leading to the rejection of H0. Thereby, it can be concluded that learning using the flipped classroom learning model on the material of congruence and similarity of flat shapes can affect students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to understand how teachers and students perceived the use of the STIFIn concept in improving students' speaking skills. The STIFIn concept, which was based on five types of human intelligence—sensing, thinking, intuiting, feeling, and instinct—was believed to help design more personalized and effective learning strategies. The study used a qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of semi-structured interviews with teachers and students. Motivator Quran Darussalam, a high school Islamic boarding school, is located at the research site. The steps used to collect data included conducting interviews, making observations, and reviewing documents related to teaching speaking skills. Data reduction, data display, data condensation, and conclusion drafting are methods of data analysis. The results of the research were that the use of the STIFIn concept helped teachers to recognize the characteristics of students' intelligence and thus to adapt teaching methods more appropriately. Students also reported an improvement in their self-confidence and speaking skills following the implementation of the method. However, there were still some challenges in adapting the method to different types of student intelligence, which required in-depth training and understanding on the part of teachers. Overall, the STIFIn concept offered a new approach that could enrich language teaching in the classroom.

Abstract

The improvement of learning quality in Indonesia is greatly influenced by teacher performance and the effectiveness of principal leadership. This study aims to analyze the role of participatory leadership by principals in building teachers' intrinsic motivation and its impact on learning quality. We obtained data using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with teachers and principals, along with document analysis. The selection of research subjects used purposive sampling because the subjects had to meet several established criteria. To make the qualitative data easier to understand, thematic analysis was employed in this study's data analysis. The results of the study showed that the implementation of participatory leadership through teacher involvement in decision-making and granting autonomy was positively correlated with increased teacher intrinsic motivation (autonomy, competence, connectedness). We observed that teacher intrinsic motivation contributes to improving learning quality through teaching innovation, student interaction, and the development of relevant materials. The principal's participatory leadership was significant in fostering teacher internal motivation, which had a positive impact on the quality of school learning. The implications of the study emphasize the importance of adopting participatory leadership as a strategy for empowering teachers and improving the quality of education.

Abstract

Perspective drawing is a fundamental skill in art education that plays a crucial role in developing visual abilities, creativity, and the understanding of three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional plane. However, many students experienced difficulties in grasping the abstract concept of perspective, particularly in determining the horizon line and vanishing points, which was attributed to the limitations of conventional learning media. Therefore, this study examined the application of the Vision Frame learning media in teaching perspective drawing techniques to students at Islamic Middle School. The research employed observation and questionnaire methods to collect data on students' perceptions of the effectiveness of Vision Frame as a visual aid in the perspective drawing learning process. This research was conducted at the Islamic Middle School (SMPIT) Darul Fikri Makassar. The data analysis techniques included both qualitative and quantitative analyses. The analysis revealed that the majority of students (75%) rated Vision Frame as highly effective in accelerating and simplifying the determination of the horizon line and vanishing points. No students provided negative feedback regarding this media. These findings indicated that the use of Vision Frame significantly enhanced students' understanding of perspective concepts, reduced technical errors, and increased their confidence in drawing. Therefore, Vision Frame was considered an innovative and effective learning medium worthy of integration into the art curriculum at the junior high school level, as demonstrated in the case study at SMPIT Darul Fikri Makassar.

Abstract

This study investigates the enduring impact of colonial legacies on Indonesia's national education system. The main objective is to analyze how structures, language policies, and bureaucratic frameworks inherited from the Dutch colonial era continue to shape educational access, quality, and equity today. Using a qualitative research approach, the study reviews secondary data, including academic articles and policy documents, combined with thematic analysis to identify key patterns and influences. The findings reveal that the dual-track curriculum system, separating academic and vocational education, perpetuates social segmentation, particularly disadvantaging students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Furthermore, the colonial use of Dutch as the primary language of instruction has created a longstanding preference for foreign languages, such as English, in formal education, which exacerbates learning inequalities between urban and rural areas. The study also highlights how the rigid, hierarchical educational bureaucracy inherited from the colonial period limits innovation and local adaptation in schools. Overall, the research concludes that addressing these challenges requires more than superficial curriculum revisions; it calls for deep systemic reforms that prioritize inclusivity, local relevance, and greater flexibility in educational management. By transforming these inherited structures, Indonesia can move toward a more equitable and high-quality national education system that better serves its diverse population.
