Abstract

This study focuses on determining if video-based discussions improve students' English-speaking abilities in their initial years at MTs As'adiyah Putra 1 Sengkang. Two classes served as the research sample in this study's true experimental design (the pretest-posttest control group design). There were 90 first-year students at MTs As'adiyah Putra 1 Sengkang in the population. 30 students served as the research's sample population. VII. A and VII. B was chosen as the sample for the research using the cluster random sampling approach, which was applied by the author. Speaking tests and the video-based discussion approach were used to gather data on the students' speaking abilities. The test's results were collated and put through a t-test and percentage analysis. As a result of the findings, it was determined that the probability value (0.00) was less than the threshold of significance (0.05) The examination of the data revealed that using video-based discussions to learn English considerably improves students' speaking abilities. The pre-test mean score is 1.9344, and the post-test mean score is 3.4817, which demonstrates this.

Abstract

This paper discusses multicultural education in the philosophy of Islamic education. The purpose of this research is to provide us with an understanding of multicultural education, which is a concept, idea, or philosophy as a set of beliefs and explanations that recognize and assess the importance of cultural and ethnic diversity in shaping lifestyles, social experiences, personal identities, and educational opportunities for individuals, groups, and countries. Such multicultural education must be implemented as soon as possible in educational practice. This is because education with a multicultural perspective is believed to be able to grow and develop students into individuals who are not only proud of themselves (the culture, language, and other specialties they have), but are also able to recognize, accept, and respect the different specialties that others have. They are ready to live in equality. Multicultural education has a conceptual relationship and its relevance to Islamic religious doctrine.

Abstract

Covid-19 forced the government to stop offline or face-to-face learning and implement online learning. Online learning is a new learning style for most students. This study investigates the challenges of online learning faced by students at a faculty of education in South Sulawesi. In particular, this research focuses on the types of challenges faced by students and how they overcome these challenges. This study uses a qualitative approach by conducting semi-structured interviews via telephone calls, WhatsApp applications, and virtual zoom applications to collect data from 30 students at one campus in South Sulawesi. The findings of this study indicate that the challenges faced by students are largely influenced by digital knowledge and skills, economic background, place of residence, and the teaching style of lecturers. This study concludes that online learning is less effective in increasing student participation, activeness, and providing quality learning.

Abstract

The aims of the research are to enhance writing skills on hortatory exposition texts for the third year of MTs As’adiyah Putri 1 Sengkang. This research used a quasi-experimental method with two groups of pre-test and post-test designs. The subject of the research was the third-year students of MTs As’adiyah Putri 1 Sengkang. In this research, two classes were taken as samples. Class IX A was chosen as the experimental class and IX B as the control class. The experimental class consists of 25 students and 23 students from the control class. Writing tests (pretest and posttest) were used to collect data, which was then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics in SPSS. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed a significant enhancement. It was proven by the mean score of the students’ experimental post-test (74.96) is higher than the mean score of the students’ pre-test (55.44) and the t-test value of the post-test is 0.004, which is smaller than 0.05. The gain scores of both groups show enhancement in students’ writing skills. However, the gain score of the experimental class was higher than the control class. The gain score of the experimental class was 19.52. From this research finding, it showed that the use of discovery learning could enhance the students’ writing skills on hortatory exposition texts.

Abstract

The issue in this research is that students struggle to move because they lack fundamental throwing and catching mobility skills. There are still many students who look stiff and need the teacher's assistance to move in accordance with the teacher's instructions, even though some students are less able to practice throwing and catching balls, even though some students can already do so. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of fundamental movement skills for throwing and catching a baseball in primary school. The sample of this research is class III MIS AL Qosimy Watu Galuh, totaling 25 people. Data collection techniques using a t-test: The P value obtained is less than 0.05, which is 0.00. In the catch test, the test statistic results show the P-value obtained is less than 0.05, which is 0.00, with an average value of 34.54. The results of the test statistic on the throwing and catching values show that the P-value obtained is less than 0.05, which is 0.00. So it can be concluded that the throwing value of the students is equal to 15 with an average value of 11.5. The results of the overall analysis show that the components of the throw, catch, and throw catch scores of each student are not the same as the expected target value.
