Abstract

Gender roles are social instructions that attempt to differentiate the physical functions of men and women. The study aims to determine the role of gender in students' understanding and achievement in Bahasa Indonesian subjects. It was conducted at SDN Experiment Medan in 2024. The populations in this study were students in classes IV B and IV C of SDN Experiment Medan, totaling 107 students who were students in the fourth grade at SDN Experiment Medan in 2024. Sampling was used using the cluster random sampling technique, where samples are taken by randomly taking classes from the population and selecting the sample using the Slovin formula with 35 respondents. This type of research is quantitative, and the primary and secondary data is obtained through documentation studies and a list of questions using a Likert scale. The data was processed statistically using the SPSS 26 program, namely the T-test, F-test and determinant coefficient models. The research results show that gender roles, understanding and achievement influence Indonesian language learning outcomes and increase awareness and implementation of gender equality. Hopefully, it can contribute to developing curricula and education policies that are more inclusive and gender equal.

Abstract

Sexual violence against women and children in Palembang City continues to increase, encouraging the emergence of women's movements such as the Women's Crisis Center (WCC) Palembang, which focuses on the issue of violence against women. This research aims to assess the effectiveness of WCC Palembang's role in advocating for victims of sexual violence and identifying the obstacles faced. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, with data obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The subjects in this research comprised three sources: the Executive Director, the Supporting Staff, and the WCC Palembang Program Coordinator. After the data is collected, it is analyzed in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The research results show that even though there are internal obstacles, such as limited funds and human resources, WCC Palembang is effective in advocating for victims of violence and plays an active role in collecting data on the National Commission on Violence against Women's CATAHU. WCC Palembang has also made a significant contribution to dealing with sexual violence in Palembang City.

Abstract

Infaq is currently very interesting and needs to be discussed and developed. Though it is not gender-specific, infaq is not just for men; women play a crucial role in it. This study examines how women perform infaq and infaq in the Koran. A qualitative approach was used in this study, using a research library. This study demonstrates the value of charity in human life; women are acknowledged as active contributors to charity, and there are no gender-based barriers to charitable giving. It is hoped that more women will be motivated to give back if they comprehend this perspective. Their participation has the potential to improve society and fortify social networks. Therefore, women's infaq enhances their spiritual experience and strengthens social bonds within the community.

Abstract

This article analyzes social resistance to LGBT intersubjectivity within the sociocultural context of Jambi, Indonesia, by examining divergent epistemological constructions of truth. Using a qualitative field-based research design, the study was conducted in Jambi City and involved in-depth interviews with religious leaders, traditional leaders, and health professionals as key social actors. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, and interpreted using an epistemological framework. The findings reveal two main insights. First, LGBT individuals articulate their identities and lived experiences through an intersubjective understanding of truth, grounded in shared meanings and collective experiences. Second, this intersubjective framework encounters social resistance manifested through three dominant sociocultural perspectives: religious perspectives grounded in subjective truth, medical perspectives emphasizing objective truth, and customary perspectives that also operate within an intersubjective understanding of truth. These differing epistemological positions shape how the Jambi community interprets and responds to LGBT presence. This study contributes to LGBT studies and sociocultural theory by demonstrating how competing constructions of truth underpin social resistance in local contexts. It highlights the importance of epistemological awareness in understanding social tensions surrounding sexual and gender diversity in culturally plural societies.

Abstract

Fathers’ involvement plays an important role in supporting the development of children’s social skills; however, in practice, this involvement is not always optimal. This study aims to explore the role of fathers in co-parenting practices related to the development of children’s social skills at TK Dharma Wanita Nguntoronadi, Magetan. This research employed a qualitative case study approach. The participants consisted of five fathers and two teachers, selected as key informants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using source triangulation to ensure data credibility. The findings indicate that: (1) the kindergarten has programs designed to foster children’s social skills, which require active father involvement to function optimally; (2) fathers are generally aware of their roles in nurturing children’s social development; (3) this awareness is reflected in their efforts to allocate quality time with their children; (4) fathers employ various interaction patterns to support social skill development, including teaching polite communication, engaging in play and recreational activities, maintaining dialogue, reading bedtime stories, sharing meals, and exercising together; and (5) fathers adopt diverse parenting strategies, often through discussion and coordination with their spouses. In conclusion, fathers play a significant and positive role in co-parenting practices that support the development of children’s social skills. Strengthening father involvement through collaborative parenting can further enhance children’s social competence.

Abstract

Despite significant societal progress and increased access to education, early marriage, particularly among girl, remains prevalent in certain communities. This practice stands in contrast to existing regulations that mandate a minimum marriage age of 18 and 12 years of compulsory education, especially for parents who are already married. This study aims to explore parents’ perspectives on early marriage for their daughters and to identify the underlying causes. Employing a qualitative research method, data were collected through interviews and observations. The findings reveal two key points: (1) while most parents do not desire early marriage for their daughters and prefer that they continue their education and pursue employment, economic hardship often compels them to marry their daughters off in the hope of reducing the family’s financial burden. (2) Early marriage is driven by both internal and external factors, including environmental, social, economic, and cultural influences. Among these, limited economic resources and poor access to education, particularly at the junior high school level, emerge as the dominant causes. In such contexts, early marriage has become normalized as a cultural practice.

Abstract

Cases of violence within pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) continue to occur. According to data from the Indonesian Teachers Union Federation (FSGI), 101 children were recorded as victims of sexual violence in schools between January and August 2024—all within educational institutions, across eight different cases. Of these, three cases occurred in boarding schools, while the other five took place in institutions under the supervision of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This qualitative descriptive study, based on a literature review, aims to analyze two key policies: the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education No. 1262 of 2024 concerning Technical Guidelines for Child-Friendly Care in Islamic Boarding Schools, and the Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation No. 73 of 2022 on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence in Educational Institutions under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Data sources include articles, journals, books, and other relevant literature on violence in pesantren environments. The findings reveal that, despite the issuance of these regulatory policies, cases of violence in pesantren persist. The study underscores the urgent need to strengthen and clarify evaluation and enforcement mechanisms at all institutional levels to effectively prevent and address such cases.

Abstract

This study presents a literature review on feminist entrepreneurship as a critique of the capitalist economic system, which often fails to uphold gender justice and ecological sustainability. The study draws on academic journals, books, and reports that examine the socio-economic and environmental consequences of capitalism particularly in relation to gender. The data were analyzed thematically using a feminist critical theory framework, with a focus on ecofeminism. The findings suggest that feminist entrepreneurship offers an alternative model that prioritizes not only economic outcomes but also values of solidarity, inclusivity, and sustainability. It seeks to challenge and transform discriminatory economic structures by empowering women, redistributing resources, and promoting community-based business models. Feminist entrepreneurship also elevates the importance of care work and ecological stewardship—elements often marginalized in capitalist systems. This paper argues that feminist entrepreneurship can serve as a strategic response to gender inequality and contribute to the development of a more inclusive and human-centered economy. Ultimately, it reflects the author's engagement in discursive resistance to capitalism and calls for the creation of a more equitable economic paradigm.

Abstract

Women working as parking attendants represent an emerging gender dynamic within the informal employment sector. This study aims to explore the lived experiences of women working as parking attendants through a phenomenological approach. Drawing on Alfred Schutz’s phenomenological theory, particularly the concepts of because-motive and in-order-to motive, this study employs a qualitative research design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and literature review, while informants were selected using purposive sampling. The primary subject of this study was a female parking attendant working at Wonokromo Station, Surabaya. The findings indicate that women’s involvement in parking attendant work is driven by because-motives such as economic pressures within the household, limited educational background, the availability of informal job opportunities, and situational constraints. Meanwhile, their in-order-to motives reflect aspirations to leave this occupation and seek more secure and socially valued employment. Although this occupation provides a relatively sufficient income, the informants expressed a strong desire to transition to jobs that better align with their personal circumstances, long-term needs, and social expectations. This study contributes to discussions on gender, informal labor, and women’s agency by highlighting how economic necessity intersects with personal aspirations in shaping women’s participation in informal work.

Abstract

This article examines the implementation of social protection interventions aimed at addressing child labor in Egypt between 2018 and 2024. Using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, this study explores the root causes of child labor, which are deeply embedded in cultural, educational, and environmental factors. Addressing these root causes requires a comprehensive strategy that tackles the structural dimensions of the problem. Recognizing the urgency of child labor as a threat to individual security, the International Labor Organization (ILO) launched the ACCEL Africa project, which aims to accelerate the elimination of child labor across six African countries, including Egypt. This research adopts a descriptive design and relies on literature-based analysis to evaluate the social protection strategies implemented under the ACCEL initiative. These include cash transfer programs, microcredit income-generation initiatives, and public employment schemes, all of which focus on promoting socio-economic rights as a pathway to reducing child labor. Key interventions also include integrating financial assistance with the education system, advancing financial inclusion, and expanding employment opportunities for individuals of productive age. While these strategies have contributed to strengthening local institutional capacity, the study finds that structural challenges—such as cultural resistance and limited coordination among stakeholders—continue to hinder the effectiveness of implementation. The findings highlight the need for a more integrated and culturally sensitive approach to fully realize the goals of child labor eradication in Egypt.
