Abstract

Speaking ability is one of the most challenging skills that English as a foreign language (EFL) learners must master. Along with the development of technology, media such as podcasts have become one of the promising alternatives to support speaking learning. This study examined the effect of using podcasts on improving EFL students' speaking ability through a quasi-experimental design. The research sample consisted of 60 students of English Education Study Program at Sultan Agung Islamic University who were divided into two groups: the experimental group (n=30) who received podcast-based learning and the control group (n=30) who underwent conventional learning. Pre-test and post-test were conducted to measure four main components of speaking ability, namely fluency, accuracy, pronunciation, and vocabulary range. The results showed that the experimental group experienced more significant improvements in all components than the control group. The t-test analysis showed significant differences (p < 0.05) in the post-test scores between the two groups, with greater improvement in the experimental group in terms of fluency (t = 3.5), accuracy (t = 2.9), pronunciation (t = 3.8), and vocabulary range (t = 3.2). These findings support Krashen's Input Hypothesis and Swain's Output Hypothesis, which suggest that podcasts provide authentic language input while encouraging active language production. This study suggests the integration of podcasts in EFL speaking learning and recommends further research in various other contexts.

Abstract

Proper pronunciation is an important aspect of learning English, yet often a challenge for second language learners. Speech recognition-based technology offers an innovative solution to improve pronunciation skills through instant feedback. This study aims to evaluate the effect of speech recognition software on improving English pronunciation skills in English Language Education students at Sultan Agung Islamic University. Using a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test, the study involved two groups: an experimental group that used speech recognition software and a control group that followed conventional teaching. The results showed that the experimental group experienced significant improvements in pronunciation skills, including phonemes (44.8%), intonation (45.7%), and word stress (33.4%), while the control group showed smaller improvements. Statistical analysis using paired t-test and independent t-test confirmed that the difference between the two groups was highly significant (p-value < 0.05). The findings indicate that speech recognition software can improve English pronunciation skills more effectively than conventional methods. This study contributes to the development of the use of technology in English language education, particularly in improving pronunciation through instant feedback. The practical implications of this study include the potential integration of this tool in the English language learning curriculum to increase students' independence in practicing pronunciation.

Abstract

Era post-kebenaran ditandai oleh kaburnya batas antara fakta dan opini, di mana emosi dan keyakinan pribadi lebih dominan dalam membentuk persepsi publik dibandingkan fakta objektif. Dalam kondisi ini, media kontemporer tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai saluran informasi, tetapi juga menjadi arena produksi dan mediasi makna yang memengaruhi pemahaman publik terhadap realitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap bagaimana konsep kebenaran ditafsirkan dalam ruang publik digital melalui pendekatan hermeneutik Heideggerian. Dengan menelusuri konsep aletheia sebagai proses pengungkapan kebenaran kajian ini menelaah praktik media digital yang secara simultan menyelubungi dan mengungkap realitas melalui narasi, representasi visual, serta algoritma platform. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan analisis terhadap fenomena media seperti framing berita, viralitas konten, dan logika kerja platform digital. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebenaran dalam era post-kebenaran tidak hanya terancam oleh disinformasi, tetapi juga terperangkap dalam cara manusia modern melalui keberadaan Dasein mengalami dunia yang dimediasi oleh teknologi. Dalam konteks ini, media digital berperan sebagai perantara yang membentuk horizon pemahaman manusia secara eksistensial. Kajian ini menawarkan refleksi kritis terhadap pentingnya pemahaman hermeneutik dalam merespons tantangan epistemologis dan eksistensial di tengah derasnya arus informasi digital yang kompleks dan manipulatif.

Abstract

The increasing needs of the community and the presence of technology that can make it easier, therefore the Bengkulu Provincial Government, especially DPMPTSP, created an innovation to facilitate the provision of business licensing services for the community in the form of the SIPANSE application. The SIPANSE application is a digitalization of licensing affairs by serving an integrated system, online system, digital signature, and mobile system. Innovation is the entire process of creating and offering new things that are discovered. SIPANSE innovation is not immediately applied, but requires a certain process. The purpose of this study was to analyze the model and process of licensing service innovation through SIPANSE and to analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors of the innovation process. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, documentation and interviews with several informants selected by purposive sampling. The results of the study showed that the SIPANSE innovation process had been carried out well, at the initiation stage it was carried out through various activity processes such as coordination meetings, socialization, providing information, technical guidance and training. In the second stage, namely the implementation of steps taken through various processes including the inauguration of the SIPANSE application, adding application features, creating a guidebook, providing information and consultation rooms, and further socialization through social media, official websites and participation in reality shows. This Implementation Stage also includes the provision of complaint forms, evaluation of service implementation, and development of the SIPANSE application IMB menu for the sustainability of innovation. Driving factors for the SIPANSE innovation process, namely the support of facilities and infrastructure and the support of parties involved and responsible. Inhibiting factors for the SIPANSE innovation process, namely the lack of incentives for employees.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi penggunaan gaya bahasa dan strategi copywriting dalam membentuk identitas institusi pendidikan melalui akun Instagram @tedja.indonesia yang merupakan institusi baru. Dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, analisis dilakukan terhadap konten yang dipilih dari akun Instagram tersebut untuk mengungkap penerapan gaya bahasa dan strategi copywriting berdasarkan model AIDA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa unsur kebahasaan dan bahasa persuasif digunakan untuk menarik perhatian audiens dan mencerminkan identitas institusi. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan bagi praktisi public relations dalam sektor pendidikan dan branding digital

Abstract

Understanding the impact of work discipline (X2) and motivation (X1) on employee performance (Y) at PT. Yumeida Utama Unit PT. Fatona Medan is the aim of this study. Forty-five employees of PT. Yumeida Utama Unit PT. Fatona comprised the study's population. The population, or 45 respondents, is the number of samples collected. In 2025, the investigation was carried out. In this work, Using SPSS version 22, to assess quantitative data, a multiple linear regression model was employed. The study's findings showed that employee performance can be improved through work motivation. Motivation and encouragement of staff are the main priorities of the PT. Fatona unit PT. Yumeida Utama in order to produce satisfactory staff performance. Workplace employee performance is significantly impacted by punishment. This shows how the PT. Fatona unit at PT. Yumeida Utama applies strong discipline to create positive working conditions, which can develop staff performance. The F count (36.335) > F table (3.22) and the F test value Sig. (0.000) <0.05. This implies that employee performance is significantly affected by work discipline and motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the criminal act of bribery corruption based on the theory of legal certainty. This research employs normative legal methods with statutory and conceptual approaches. The main focus is to examine the extent to which the principle of legal certainty is applied in court decisions related to bribery cases, particularly regarding the consistency of norm application and judicial considerations. It is found that in several similar cases, there are significant disparities in verdicts, both in terms of sentence length, fines, and additional penalties, without clear and uniform legal basis. This reflects the weak implementation of the principle of legal certainty as stated by Gustav Radbruch. Therefore, a revision of regulations and clearer, more standardized sentencing guidelines are needed to create clarity, predictability, and justice in law enforcement. The findings are expected to contribute academically to improving Indonesia’s criminal justice system, especially in handling corruption offenses

Abstract

Children are entrusted as well as gifts from God who are obliged to receive affection in their proper growth and development, regardless of their parents' backgrounds. However, in real life, there are some children who are born out of a legal marriage (registered by the state), this is often the target of discriminatory treatment, both from a social and legal perspective. This research aims to explore in depth the form of protection and legal status of children outside marriage based on the perspective of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection. This research is a normative research with a legal approach and theories that are relevant to the research problem, and the results of the study show that according to the laws and regulations regarding the guarantee of every child to obtain legal protection and recognition, at the practical level there are still legal vacancies, especially related to the recognition of the civil status of children outside of marriage, such as inheritance rights and legal relations with biological fathers. For this reason, collaboration between the legal apparatus, state institutions, and the collective consciousness of the community is needed to ensure the fulfillment of children's rights in a fair and free manner from discrimination.

Abstract

The declining number of marriages in Indonesia has become a noteworthy social phenomenon, particularly in relation to the influence of social media platforms such as Instagram. The @lambe_turah account, which has over 12 million followers, reflects a strong public interest in its content. This study aims to examine the influence of Instagram, specifically the @lambe_turah account, on individuals' readiness for marriage, focusing on three subvariables: intensity of exposure, message content, and attractiveness of the content. The study population consisted of @lambe_turah Instagram followers, with a sample of 100 respondents determined using the Slovin formula. This research employed a quantitative descriptive method, utilizing questionnaires as the primary data collection instrument. The findings indicate that all three subvariables significantly influence marital readiness, as evidenced by t-values exceeding the critical threshold. Collectively, the three variables accounted for 44.2% of the variation in marital readiness, while the remaining 55.8% was attributed to other factors beyond the scope of this study. The results suggest that frequent exposure to content, the thematic focus on celebrity marital issues, and the appeal of content presentation play a notable role in shaping individuals’ perceptions and attitudes toward marriage
