Abstract

This community service program was conducted at Ma’had Al-Jamiah, UIN Raden Intan Lampung, involving 45 students from various faculties. The initiative was driven by the urgent need to address challenges in mastering English speaking skills, which often hinder students' academic and professional competencies. The primary objective was to introduce, train, and guide participants in utilizing AI-based speaking tools such as ELSA Speak and Duolingo. These tools are positioned as scalable, adaptive solutions for independent language practice, aiming to enhance oral proficiency. Key issues identified prior to the program included low self-confidence, limited opportunities for speaking practice in formal settings, and a lack of access to instant, objective feedback. Evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in participants' self-confidence and pronunciation accuracy, as measured through pre-test and post-test comparisons, along with satisfaction survey analysis. Approximately 85% of participants reported that AI-based tools facilitated their learning process, provided constructive feedback, and could be flexibly integrated into their daily academic routines. These findings underscore the considerable potential of integrating AI technology into language education to foster a more inclusive, personalized, and effective learning environment.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the teaching competence of Al-Qur’an teachers in delivering learning specifically designed for elderly learners. The program involved several stages, including needs identification, collaborative planning, implementation of mentoring and training, joint reflection and evaluation, as well as program improvement and adjustment. The community service method employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach and was conducted at MQ Al Muhajirin Boro, Tanggulangin. During the needs identification stage, the service team carried out observations, interviews, and discussions to understand the challenges faced by Al-Qur’an teachers in teaching elderly learners, such as difficulties in delivering material, a lack of appropriate teaching techniques, and limited learning support tools. Based on these findings, a microteaching module tailored to the needs of elderly learners was developed, along with a schedule of regular training sessions and the provision of relevant instructional aids and learning media. The mentoring and training activities were conducted periodically, emphasizing the use of visual and audio methods, adequate time intervals, and simple language. Periodic evaluations indicated improvements in teachers’ instructional skills, elderly learners’ understanding of Al-Qur’an materials, and the effectiveness of instructional aids and learning media. Overall, the program produced a significant positive impact and is expected to serve as a model for similar programs in other settings. Recommendations for program sustainability include continuous development, advanced training, community involvement, facility enhancement, and further research.

Abstract

The issue of food waste, particularly rice waste, has become a global concern due to its impact on the environment, food security and the economy. In Bumiwangi Village, this phenomenon also occurs, but at the same time opens up opportunities to utilize food waste into value-added products. This community service activity aims to develop innovations in processed anchovy pempek by utilizing rice as the main carbohydrate source, so as to reduce waste while increasing residents' income. The research uses a literature-based approach combined with the concept of community-based development, especially the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) model, which emphasizes the utilization of local potential. The manufacturing process includes selection and preparation of ingredients, mixing rice with anchovies and spices, dough formation, cooking, and serving. The results show that leftover rice can be processed into pempek products with a taste that is acceptable to consumers, has good nutritional value, and has market potential. This innovation not only provides a solution to the problem of food waste, but also contributes to the economic empowerment of rural households.

Abstract

This community service program addresses quality improvement challenges identified during the accreditation visitation at SMKN 1 Petasia Barat, Central Sulawesi, particularly related to school management, curriculum relevance, teacher professional development, and student engagement. The program aims to strengthen educational quality and governance through systematic follow-up of visitation results. Grounded in quality assurance theory, continuous improvement, and school-based management, the program employed a data-driven mentoring and participatory facilitation method. The activities included analysis of visitation findings, formulation of a structured follow-up action plan, capacity-building sessions for teachers and educational staff, and stakeholder coordination to support implementation. The findings indicate improved understanding among school stakeholders regarding quality indicators, the availability of a clear and measurable follow-up plan, and increased commitment to continuous quality improvement. The program demonstrates that structured follow-up of accreditation visitation results can function not only as an administrative response, but also as an effective strategy to foster a sustainable quality culture and enhance the relevance of vocational education.

Abstract

Repeated flooding on the island of Sumatra over the last decade has shown that hydrometeorological disasters cannot be understood merely as weather-related problems, but rather as a nexus of ecological crisis, Natural Resource (NR) governance, and exploitative patterns of human–nature relations. This community service activity was conducted in the environment of Istiqlal Mosque PKUMI through panel discussions, public dialogues, and the formulation of policy recommendations. The ecotheology framework was employed to connect spiritual dimensions, public ethics, and environmental policy; meanwhile, “ecological repentance” was used as a transformative concept: changes in awareness, behavioral transformation, and policy correction. The results of the activity indicate four main findings: (1) ecotheology is effective as a “moral language” to broaden acceptance of pro-environmental policies; (2) criticism of the technocratic-extractive paradigm needs to be integrated with the principles of precaution and ecological justice; (3) ecotheological education through a love-based/eco-empathy curriculum has the potential to build intergenerational ecological ethics; and (4) policy recommendations emphasize a moratorium on problematic permits, meaningful public participation (FPIC), enforcement of the polluter pays principle, and the reallocation of extractive subsidies for basic services and ecological restoration. The main outputs of this community service activity are policy recommendations and the strengthening of collaborative networks across faith communities, universities, Islamic boarding schools, mass organizations, and policymakers as the foundation of an ecological repentance movement.

Abstract

The problems faced by rural communities include limitations in access to information, training, and assistance that can support the development of the creative economy. These limitations have caused some rural communities to be unable to optimize their potential to improve family economic welfare independently. Therefore, this Community Service (PKM) activity aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the productive-age housewife group who are members of the PKK organization in Suka Jaya Village and to open opportunities for the growth of sustainable creative economic businesses. The method used was through training and mentoring, which included the stages of counseling, demonstration, direct practice, and evaluation of participants' work. The activity was carried out using a participatory approach, in which participants were actively involved in every stage of the training. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation of the process and results of the activity. The results of the activity showed that the tie-dye tote bag making training was able to improve the participants' knowledge and skills in producing attractive tie-dye tote bag handicraft products and foster entrepreneurial interest in the creative economy sector. The training participants were able to produce tie-dye tote bags that were suitable for use and possessed aesthetic value as well as market potential.
