Abstract

The researchers accessed the online Scopus database to gather data for the study. The researchers utilized Microsoft Excel for frequency analysis, VOSviewer for data visualization, and Harzing's Publish or Perish for citation metrics and analysis. According to a keywords search for "Flipped-Classroom” and “EFL," 26 articles were assessed. The research on this matter was started in 2014 with one article for the entire year. From the next year to 2020, the number of publications each year grew. As a result of analysis, the researcher discloses the data on the growth of the research, the most active journals on the topic, the distribution of author keywords and co-occurrences of author keywords, and the most active authors and authors’ collaboration. It was shown that throughout the last seven years, researchers have increased their focus on flipped classroom and EFL research, with the highest number of publications occurring in 2020 (11 papers). The most active journal on the subject is the International Journal of Emerging Technologies in Learning, which has published three pieces on the subject. Additionally, the investigation found that instruction, perception, and performance are the most commonly used keywords. However, involvement and motivation are mentioned infrequently in research reports.

Abstract

Interactive learning media can engage young learners to effectively absorb learning materials. Therefore, this developmental research was conducted to produce an interactive game that improves young learners' mastery of plural and singular nouns and enrich young learners' animal-related vocabulary. The researchers employed the ADDIE development model that began by analyzing problems related to the predetermined topic, analyzing the environment and work situation, designing the product, developing the product based on validation results from three expert validators, and conducting a product trial. The researchers investigated the product’s feasibility by performing a small-sccale trial and a large-scale trial. The research findings indicate that the developed interactive game was practical and useful. In short, the developed interactive game is feasible to assist young learners in learning plural and singular nouns and enrich their vocabulary.

Abstract

Despite the growing body of research documented the analysis of poem in EFL learning, relatively few of literature examines the representation of figurative language and textual meaning situated in the ELT context. To fill this gap, the objective of figurative language is to enhance a poem's beauty and unique effects by also creating it much more interesting and distinctive. This research goal is to examine the representation of figurative language and contextual meaning in Hardy poems. The poems scrutinized by the researcher were "Ah Are You Digging On My Grave," "The Man He Killed," and "Neutral Tones."  Grounded in qualitative research with the content analysis design, this study portraited the representation of figurative language and contextual meaning in the poem as the EFL learning material. Drawing on the findings revealed that there are ten figurative language types in those poems, they are personification (21.43%), hyperbole (14.29%), synecdoche (14.29%), simile (14.29%), irony (11.90%), metaphor (7.14%), symbol (7.14%), allusion (4.76%), paradox (2.38%), and apostrophe (2.38%). There are 42 expressions in those poems. This study contributes the benefits to the EFL teachers and students as a reference of literature and semantics material in EFL learning.

Abstract

Technology's rapid growth has significantly impacted how lecturers incorporate technology into classroom activities, especially when providing feedback. The students will receive feedback during the revision session. There are many techniques for giving feedback on students' writing. For instance, peer and self-feedback are two techniques for checking students' mistakes. Therefore, this research portrays technology as a medium for implementing peer and self-feedback in students' writing. This research aims to describe the integration of media in giving feedback. The media are blogs and Google Docs. This research also gathered students' perceptions of the use of online media. In this research, the researcher implemented qualitative research. This research was conducted by the fourth-semester students of the essay writing class, English Education Study Program, Uin Raden Intan Lampung. The researcher used documentation, an internet survey, and an observation sheet to gather data. The data from the research is analyzed interactively. The findings highlight the significant benefits of utilizing blogs and Google Docs for reflective writing practices. The implication of this research underscores the importance of integrating online media for peer and self-feedback to enhance students' writing skills effectively. This research contributes valuable insight into leveraging technology for academic improvement and fostering a conducive learning environment.

Abstract

Pronunciation in a second language (L2) is often influenced by the first language (L1), which can hinder intelligibility. Indonesian speakers struggle with certain English sounds, such as /θ/ and /ð/, due to their absence in the L1 phonetic system. To identify the influence of L1 on L2 pronunciation in the context of English language learning in Indonesia and propose strategies to reduce negative transfer effects. This qualitative study used a case study approach, involving 9 students from an English club at XYZ School. A pronunciation test was conducted to measure phonetic transfer between L1 and L2. Results show that L1 phonetic transfer causes errors in specific phonemes. Words with higher phonetic complexity are more challenging to pronounce correctly. Negative phonetic transfer and a lack of prosodic training were identified as major obstacles. Context-based and intensive phonetic training significantly improves pronunciation skills. L2 pronunciation errors are strongly influenced by L1, phonetic complexity, and individual experience. Contextual learning and individualized approaches positively impact pronunciation improvement.

Abstract

This research aims to explore students’ perceptions of the use of e-learning in English teaching activities. The study was conducted to understand how students respond to and engage with digital learning platforms during their English classes, especially in the context of increasing reliance on online education. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires from college students. The findings reveal that most students perceive e-learning as a helpful tool that offers flexibility, access to various resources, and opportunities for independent learning. However, challenges such as lack of motivation, technical issues, and limited interaction with teachers were also identified. Overall, while students acknowledged the benefits of e-learning in enhancing their English skills, they also emphasized the importance of combining it with traditional face-to-face instruction for more effective learning outcomes. This study highlights the importance of improving digital infrastructure and instructional design to ensure that e-learning is both effective and engaging in English education

Abstract

Waste management is a significant challenge in Tanjung Serayan Village, Mesuji Regency, due to the community's habit of littering and lack of awareness about waste sorting. Despite efforts from the village government, including forming a Working Group (POKJA) and collaborating with UIN Raden Intan Lampung students, waste sorting remains a key issue. This research examines the effectiveness of waste management in the village, focusing on POKJA's challenges and potential solutions, such as the Sipitung program. The study uses observations, interviews, and participation in waste management activities to assess program success and identify obstacles. The lack of public awareness increases POKJA's workload and costs. The Sipitung innovation offers a potential solution by simplifying sorting and involving community participation. To improve waste management, increased education and awareness campaigns are necessary to encourage sustainable behavior.)

Abstract

This study provides a descriptive qualitative analysis of the English speaking performance challenges encountered by eighth-grade students at MTs Riyadh El Ilmi. Utilizing a multi-method approach, data were gathered through observation, semi-structured interviews, and video documentation. Student speaking proficiency was evaluated across five key components: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension, using a standardized rubric. To ensure data credibility, a dual-rater approach and interrater validation were employed for assessing speaking performances and interview responses, respectively. Findings indicate prevalent issues such as limited vocabulary, mispronunciations, grammatical errors, and disfluency among students. Interview data further revealed significant contributing factors, including inhibition, lack of ideas, low participation, and reliance on the mother tongue. These insights align with existing literature on EFL learning challenges, highlighting the need for pedagogical strategies that address both linguistic deficiencies and affective barriers to enhance students' communicative competence
