Abstract

Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are one of the government’s strategic policies to promote economic growth, attract investment, and accelerate regional development through various incentives, including fiscal facilities. This study aims to analyze the impact of fiscal incentives and investment activities on economic development in the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in North Sumatra. The research employs a closed input–output analysis model using the 2016 Domestic Transaction Table of North Sumatra Province at producer prices, which covers 52 economic sectors published by Statistics Indonesia (BPS). The analysis focuses on sectors closely related to the main activities in the Sei Mangkei SEZ, including the chemical industry, plantations, food and beverage manufacturing, electricity, business services, warehousing and transportation, and metal and electronics manufacturing industries. Multiplier analysis and economic impact analysis are applied to examine the intersectoral linkages and the broader economic effects of investment. The economic shock used in the model is based on the value of investment commitments in the Sei Mangkei SEZ obtained from the 2021 SEZ Development Report. The results indicate that investment activities in the Sei Mangkei SEZ generate significant multiplier effects, increasing output not only in directly related sectors but also in other sectors within the regional economy. These findings suggest that the development of the Sei Mangkei SEZ has the potential to strengthen regional economic growth and stimulate broader economic linkages in North Sumatra.

Abstract

The allocation of village funds is intended to accelerate the development of basic infrastructure at the local level. However, in practice, the effectiveness of fund utilization is often questioned, particularly regarding the alignment between planning, implementation, and the resulting outcomes. This study aims to analyze the extent to which the utilization of village funds in Kemenangan Tani Subdistrict, Medan Tuntungan District, can be considered effective in supporting infrastructure development. The primary issue addressed in this study is whether the realization of fund utilization has significantly contributed to the improvement of public facilities and infrastructure within the community. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using secondary data, including budget allocation and realization reports from 2022 to 2024, as well as documentation of existing infrastructure conditions. The findings indicate that although the rate of budget realization is relatively high, not all infrastructure projects have generated direct and tangible benefits for local residents. These results suggest the need to improve planning mechanisms and evaluation processes to ensure that the allocation of funds is more targeted and effective in achieving its intended development objectives.

Abstract

The performance of Indonesian civil servants (ASN) remains suboptimal, as reflected in the 2023 national BerAKHLAK index score of 61.1, indicating that the internalization of work culture has not been fully achieved. This condition suggests the need to examine factors influencing employee performance, particularly competence and work discipline, with work motivation as a mediating variable. This study aims to analyze the direct and indirect effects of competence and work discipline on ASN performance through work motivation. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected from 360 ASN in the Malinau Regency Government using purposive sampling. The analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0. The results indicate that competence does not have a significant direct effect on ASN performance. However, work discipline has a positive and significant effect on performance. Both competence and work discipline significantly influence work motivation, which in turn has a positive effect on performance. Furthermore, work motivation mediates the relationship between competence and performance, as well as between work discipline and performance. These findings highlight the important role of motivation in strengthening employee performance in the public sector.

Abstract

This study addresses the issue of varying levels of employee performance and job satisfaction in healthcare service settings, particularly in small-scale clinics. The main objective of this research is to examine the effect of tenure, work discipline, and work motivation on job satisfaction and their implications for employee performance at Klinik Pratama Garcia Medika, West Bandung Regency. A quantitative approach was applied using descriptive and verificative methods. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to clinic employees and analyzed using path analysis to identify both direct and indirect relationships among variables. The results show that tenure, work discipline, and work motivation each have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Simultaneously, these variables also significantly influence job satisfaction. Furthermore, job satisfaction has a strong positive effect on employee performance. The analysis also indicates that job satisfaction partially mediates the relationship between tenure, discipline, and motivation with employee performance, where indirect effects are greater than direct effects in several relationships. These findings highlight the importance of improving internal factors such as discipline and motivation, alongside managing employee experience, in order to enhance job satisfaction and ultimately improve performance.

Abstract

This study addresses the lack of integration in the business model of Halomam, a retail business specializing in baby and children’s products, which limits its marketing effectiveness and revenue diversification. The objective of this research is to analyze the existing business model and propose its development using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) approach. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation involving key informants, including the business owner and staff. The analysis followed a systematic process of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Halomam’s business model is not yet fully integrated, particularly in customer segmentation, which remains broad and insufficiently targeted. In addition, revenue streams rely primarily on product sales without significant diversification. However, the business demonstrates considerable potential in its key resources, activities, and partnerships. This study contributes by offering a structured evaluation of a small retail business model and proposing strategic directions, including more specific customer segmentation, strengthened digital marketing, and diversified revenue streams to enhance competitiveness and long-term sustainability.

Abstract

This study addresses the issue of teachers’ work motivation, which plays a crucial role in improving educational quality but is often influenced by leadership and organizational factors. The objective of this research is to examine the effect of transformational leadership and organizational culture on teachers’ work motivation at SMA Negeri 95 Jakarta. A quantitative causal approach was employed, involving 66 teachers selected as respondents. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression using SPSS. The results indicate that transformational leadership and organizational culture have a positive and significant effect on teachers’ work motivation, both partially and simultaneously. Transformational leadership contributes through vision clarity, inspiration, and individual consideration, while organizational culture supports motivation through shared values, collaboration, and a conducive work environment. The findings highlight that the alignment between leadership style and organizational culture strengthens teachers’ motivation to perform effectively. This study implies that school management should continuously develop transformational leadership practices and reinforce a positive organizational culture to enhance teachers’ professional commitment and performance.

Abstract

This study addresses issues related to ineffective vertical communication, perceived inequality in compensation, and low organizational commitment among employees in the Quality Control division of PT Sanipak Indonesia. The objective of this research is to examine the effect of work communication, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment on employee performance, both partially and simultaneously. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, involving 45 employees selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through validated and reliable questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings indicate that job satisfaction and organizational commitment have a positive and significant effect on employee performance, while work communication shows a positive but not statistically significant effect when analyzed simultaneously. Furthermore, the three variables collectively have a significant impact on performance, explaining 84.60% of its variance. Among them, organizational commitment emerges as the most influential factor. These results suggest that strengthening employee commitment and ensuring fair and supportive work conditions are essential strategies to improve performance, supported by effective organizational communication practices.

Abstract

The research is motivated by the growing importance of human resource management in MSMEs, particularly in competitive service sectors such as digital printing, where employee performance plays a critical role in business sustainability and service quality. This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership and employee loyalty on employee performance in digital printing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) located in Kebayoran Lama, Jakarta Selatan. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 97 employees and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that leadership does not have a significant effect on employee performance, while employee loyalty shows a positive direction of relationship but is not statistically significant. The coefficient of determination reveals that leadership and employee loyalty jointly provide a limited contribution in explaining variations in employee performance. These findings suggest that employee performance in digital printing MSMEs is influenced by various internal organizational factors beyond leadership and employee loyalty. Therefore, a more comprehensive and contextual human resource management approach is required to improve employee performance in digital printing MSMEs.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low level of financial literacy, financial behavior, and cash flow management among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which often hinders effective financial management and business sustainability. Chicken noodle MSMEs in the Klaten area represent a sector that requires improved financial management practices to support long-term development. This research aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, financial behavior, and cash flow management on the financial performance of these MSMEs. The study employs a quantitative method with a survey approach, collecting data through questionnaires distributed to 60 chicken noodle MSME actors using purposive sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using ordinal logistic regression, including stages of descriptive statistics, model fitting information, goodness of fit, pseudo R-square, test of parallel lines, and parameter estimation. The results indicate that financial literacy does not have a significant partial effect on financial performance. In contrast, financial behavior and cash flow management show significant partial effects. However, simultaneously, all three variables significantly influence financial performance. These findings suggest that improving financial literacy, alongside strengthening financial behavior and cash flow management, is essential to enhance the financial performance and sustainability of MSMEs.

Abstract

The cosmetics sector ranks among the foremost generators of plastic waste globally, encompassing Indonesia as well. In Bali, despite the enforcement of plastic reduction policies, inorganic waste continues to pose a formidable challenge. This research seeks to examine the impact of sustainable marketing and environmental consciousness on purchase intentions for The Body Shop products in Bali, positioning green brand perception as the mediating factor. Employing a quantitative approach, questionnaires were distributed to 170 participants selected via purposive sampling. The gathered data underwent analysis using Partial Least Squares-based Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS software. Findings reveal that decisions to acquire eco-friendly products are predominantly shaped by green brand image, surpassing the direct effects of sustainable marketing or environmental awareness. Furthermore, eco-brand perceptions effectively act as a bridging mechanism, connecting environmentally focused marketing strategies and green awareness to consumers' buying decisions. In conclusion, firms are urged to prioritize the cultivation of a robust, credible image of ecological responsibility, beyond mere promotional efforts, to drive authentic consumer purchasing actions.
