Abstract

Qur’an Memorization Is Generally Perceived As An Individual Spiritual Practice. Nevertheless, In The Context Of Tahfiz Communities, This Activity Is Conducted Within A Social Environment Where Interaction, Assessment, And Everyday Communication Continuously Take Place. Among These Interactions, Gossip Emerges As An Informal Mode Of Communication That Contributes To The Shaping Of Social Experiences Among Qur’an Memorizers. This Study Was Undertaken To Analyze The Dynamics Of Gossip By Examining Its Forms, The Social Circumstances That Enable Its Occurrence, And Its Implications For Social Relations And The Memorization Process. A Qualitative Research Design Grounded In A Sociological Perspective Was Applied. Data Were Gathered Through In-Depth Interviews, Non-Participant Observation, And The Examination Of Relevant Documents. The Data Were Then Processed Through Thematic Analysis. The Findings Reveal That Gossip Is Expressed In Various Forms, Including Discussions Related To Moral Conduct, Memorization Performance, And Interpersonal Relations. These Practices Operate As Informal Social Mechanisms Through Which Community Norms, Social Relationships, And Symbolic Positions Are Formed And Maintained Among Gawagis, Nawaning, And Local Santri. Furthermore, Gossip Is Shown To Affect Individual Motivation, Patterns Of Social Interaction, And The Distribution Of Symbolic Recognition Within The Tahfiz Community. This Study Offers A Sociological Contribution To Studies On Qur’an Memorization By Highlighting Gossip As A Social Practice That Influences Learning Experiences, Relational Dynamics, And Symbolic Structures Within Religious Communities.

Abstract

Insecurity is a common psychological disorder resulting from the imbalance between reason and desires. HAMKA, a prominent Sufi scholar, offers the concept of Tazkiyatun Nafs  (soul purification) as a solution to address this phenomenon. This study analyzes HAMKA's concept of Tazkiyatun Nafs in Modern Sufism as a spiritual solution to the phenomenon of insecurity in the modern era, which is exacerbated by social media pressure and self-comparison. Researchers in this literature review used textual analysis of HAMKA's works and comparisons with al-Ghazali's thoughts and Western psychological approaches such as CBT, with source triangulation for validity. The results show that Tazkiyatun Nafs—through the stages of takhalli, tahalli, and tajalli—eradicates insecurity in the form of body image, social, professional, relationship, financial, emotional, and intellectual, with the principles of ikhlas, tawakkal, muraqabah, and qana'ah that are more holistic than secular therapy. The researchers' conclusions emphasize the relevance of HAMKA's modern Sufism for faith-based mental health, contributing to the study of contemporary Sufism and the practice of Islamic psychology.

Abstract

The development of modern civilization demands that religion address complex issues, but text-centered understanding often creates a distance between sacred teachings and social reality. Responding to the stagnation and apologetic nature of the Islamization of knowledge movement, Kuntowijoyo offers a paradigm for Islamic scholarship. This article aims to examine the operationalization of the epistemological shift from text to context through methods of integration and objectification toward humanistic science. This qualitative research uses a library research approach with the primary data source from Kuntowijoyo’s literature, specifically Paradigma Islam: Interpretasi untuk Aksi. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis techniques and descriptive-analytical methods. The results of the study indicate that Islamic scholarship places the Qur’an as a construction of knowledge (mode of thought) to transform the people’s perspective from myth and ideology to empirical science. This transformation was achieved through integration, namely combining revelation and reason within a theoanthropocentric framework, and objectification, which translates the internal normative values of Islam into rational scientific formulations that are universally accepted by the public. This methodological synergy gave birth to Prophetic Social Science that is firmly based on the pillars of humanization, liberation, and transcendence. It is concluded that Kuntowijoyo’s methodology of integration and objectification has proven capable of transcending the limitations of previous movements and has succeeded in building a strong operational foundation for humanist Islamic science that actively solves the problems of modern humanity without losing its divine roots.

Abstract

Digital transformation has significantly reshaped the evidentiary system within the Indonesian judiciary, particularly through the recognition of electronic evidence such as emails, chats, and digital documents. This shift raises critical issues regarding the legitimacy and limitations of such evidence from the perspective of Islamic law, which traditionally relies on the concept of bayyinah. This study aims to analyze the validity and boundaries of electronic evidence by employing the legal maxim L? yunkaru taghayyur al-a?k?m bi taghayyur al-zam?n as an analytical framework. The research adopts a normative qualitative method with approaches rooted in usul al fiqh, statutory analysis, and conceptual examination. Data sources include classical and contemporary Islamic legal texts, legal maxims, statutory regulations, and relevant academic literature. The findings indicate that electronic evidence can be accepted as valid within Islamic law by positioning it as a form of modern qarinah, provided it meets criteria of authenticity, integrity, and relevance. However, such acceptance is not absolute, as it must remain within the boundaries of justice and public interest. Therefore, a structured evaluative framework is essential to ensure that the use of electronic evidence aligns with the fundamental objective of achieving truth and justice.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes in the social interaction patterns of the digital-native generation, but it has also given rise to an empathy crisis characterized by a decline in social awareness, increased individualism, and shallow interpersonal relationships. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of an empathy crisis among digital natives and examine the relevance of KH. Ahmad Dahlan's thoughts from the perspective of Al-Ma'un's theology as a solution in contemporary Islamic education. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research, through data collection from scientific journals, books, and relevant literature, analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that the empathy crisis is not only influenced by the intensity of digital technology use, but also by the weak internalization of moral values ??and character in the education system. In this context, KH. Ahmad Dahlan's thoughts through Al-Ma'un's theology emphasize the importance of integrating faith, knowledge, and charity as a foundation for building social awareness. The implementation of these values ??in Islamic education can be done through strengthening moral education, developing individual rationality, and involvement in real social action. Thus, Islamic education in the digital era needs to be reoriented not only towards cognitive aspects, but also towards the formation of empathy and social responsibility in students, so that it can produce a humanistic and civilized generation.

Abstract

The transformation of contemporary higher education demonstrates the increasing dominance of neoliberal rationality in the governance of modern universities. Higher education is no longer primarily understood as a space for the development of human consciousness and intellectual reflection, but rather as a mechanism for producing economic competencies oriented toward the labor market. This study aims to analyze how neoliberalism shapes the orientation of modern universities, its implications for the meaning of knowledge and student subjectivity, and how Islamic Education can function as an epistemological critique of such rationality. This research employs a qualitative library research approach with a philosophical-critical orientation. Data were analyzed through a critical reading of literature on the neoliberalization of higher education and the intellectual tradition of Islamic education. The findings reveal that the neoliberalization of higher education has reduced knowledge into an instrument of economic utility and shaped students as human capital living within a culture of performativity and self-optimization. In such conditions, Islamic Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI) tends to experience the marginalization of its transformational function and risks being reduced to an administrative moral mechanism within the neoliberal university. This study argues that Islamic Education should be repositioned not merely as an ethical complement, but as an epistemological critique of the dehumanization of modern education through the strengthening of adab, ethical reflection, and the humanization of knowledge.
