Abstract

This study aims to study the dynamics of philosophical interpretation within the Qur'anic exegesis, specifically during the classical period, by portraying the figures of Al-Farabi, Al-Ghazali, and Ibn Rushd. These three figures were chosen because they significantly influenced their respective eras. This was done as an effort to systematically observe the journey of philosophical interpretation by examining its dynamics in a more coherent manner, thus avoiding confusion. This research is a form of qualitative, descriptive library research. The approach used is a historical approach, depicting Al-Farabi, Al-Ghazali, and Ibn Rushd sequentially based on their respective lifetimes. The resulting data were analyzed using a historical analysis approach and found that philosophical interpretation, or interpretation with a philosophical character, experienced fluctuating responses. Sometimes it was accepted and sometimes it was rejected. In the hands of Al-Farobi, philosophical interpretation was studied and developed. However, during Al-Ghazali's time, philosophical interpretation was rejected. With the passage of time, under Ibn Rushd, philosophical interpretation again received attention and was developed.

Abstract

This study comparatively examines the siraman tradition in Javanese traditional weddings and mappasau botting and cemme passih ceremonies in Bugis traditional weddings. This research is qualitative research with a content analysis approach, where the source data is obtained from literature studies. Through literature study, it was found that the two traditions have similarities in the main purpose of cleansing and purifying the bride-to-be outwardly and mentally before entering a new life. Both are full of spiritual meaning and the hope of blessings. The process of acculturation of local cultural values with Islamic teachings is seen in the use of symbols in both traditions. The difference lies in the procession, time of implementation, equipment, and interpretation of the meaning of symbols according to their respective cultural contexts. The religious aspect in both traditions is associated with the concept of bathing for purity, repulsion, and asking for forgiveness of sins according to Islamic teachings. This study concluded that although different processions, the traditional Javanese and Bugis flushing traditions is an effort to cleanse the inner birth in the hope of happiness in marriage within the framework of culture and Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the process of Islamic acculturation with local culture in the Indonesian archipelago through a case study of the Begawi Adat Pepadun tradition in Lampung. The research is grounded in the understanding that local traditions in Indonesia are often perceived as contradictory to Islamic teachings, whereas, historically, both have coexisted and interacted dynamically. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, reviewing academic sources such as books, journal articles, and cultural documents. Data were analyzed using content analysis to identify Islamic values integrated within the Begawi customary system. The results reveal that Begawi Adat represents a harmonious form of acculturation between Islam and local culture. Islamic values such as monotheism (tawhid), brotherhood (ukhuwah), deliberation (syura), moderation (wasathiyyah), and noble character (akhlaq al-karimah) are embedded in various stages of the ceremony, encompassing spiritual, social, moral, and aesthetic dimensions. The tradition serves not merely as a cultural event but as a medium for the internalization of Islamic teachings within the community. In conclusion, Begawi Adat Pepadun embodies the essence of Islam Nusantara peaceful, adaptive, and contextual while standing as a religious and cultural heritage that strengthens Islamic identity and preserves local wisdom in the modern era.

Abstract

This study discusses the dowry in the perspective of the Qur'an and its relevance to the tradition of mahar mayam in Aceh. The phenomenon of declining marriage rates in Aceh, one of the causes of which is the high price of gold dowries (mayam), forms the background to this study. The purpose of this study is to analyze the compatibility between the practice of dowries in Acehnese tradition and the principles of the Qur'an. The method used is qualitative with a library research approach. The primary data sources included the Qur'an, the book Jeunamee: Konsep dan Makna Mahar dalam Masyarakat Aceh (Jeunamee: The Concept and Meaning of Dowry in Acehnese Society) by Essi Hermaliza Soraya Devy, and Bid?yah f? al-Tafs?r al-Maw???? by al-Farmawi, which were used as theories. Secondary data were obtained from tafsir books and relevant literature related to dowry and Acehnese culture. The results of the study show that the Qur'an does not specify the amount of dowry, so giving a large dowry is permissible as long as it does not burden the prospective husband. In Acehnese tradition, 3.3 grams of gold is called one mayam, and the amount of dowry generally ranges from 10 to 30 mayam, depending on the social background and education of the prospective bride and groom. The dowry tradition in Aceh is in line with the principles of the Qur'an, but the Qur'an emphasizes the ease of marriage so that the dowry does not become an obstacle for the couple.

Abstract

Generation Z is a group that grows along with the development of digital technology, so social media has become an important part of their lives. Social media is not only used as a means of communication and entertainment, but also as a space to build and display self-identity, including in the aspect of religiosity. However, the intensity of social media use often causes various psychological problems. The urge to conform to evolving trends, the desire to gain social recognition, and the habit of comparing oneself to other users have the potential to trigger stress, anxiety, and a decrease in confidence. On the other hand, the existence of religious content on social media can function as a source of inner peace, spiritual reflection, and strengthening religious values. This study uses a qualitative approach to examine in depth the influence of social media on lifestyle, mental health conditions, and the process of forming spiritual identity in Generation Z. The results of the study show that social media has an ambivalent role, namely as a factor that can cause psychological pressure as well as a medium that supports spiritual growth. An individual's ability to filter and interpret digital content is a key factor in maintaining a balance between psychological well-being and spirituality in the digital era.

Abstract

The phenomenon of increasing stress and mental health disorders in the modern era has become a global challenge that requires a new approach that is not only psychological but also philosophical. In this context, the thinking of Ibn Bajjah through the concept of al-mutawwa??id or solitary man offers an interesting reflective framework. This problem formulation includes: (1) How is the concept of al-tawahhud (productive solitude) understood in the philosophical framework of Ibn Bajjah, particularly in relation to the refinement of reason and inner happiness of humans? (2) In what aspects is Ibn Bajjah's concept of the solitary human being relevant to models of stress management and mental health in the perspective of modern psychology? (3) How can the limitations, therapeutic value, and potential application of the concept of al-mutawwa??id be adapted as a reflective strategy in dealing with the pressures of modern society? This study uses a qualitative method with a philosophical and comparative analysis approach. Primary sources are obtained from the work Tadb?r al-Mutawa??id, while secondary sources come from relevant academic literature in Islamic philosophy and modern psychology. The results of the study show that productive solitude according to Ibn Bajjah has therapeutic value that can strengthen emotional regulation, intellectual clarity, and moral integrity. This concept is not a form of social escape, but rather a reflective strategy that is in line with the mindfulness and self-regulation approaches in modern psychology. Thus, al-tawahhud can be a philosophical alternative to current mental health models.

Abstract

This study aims to trace the genealogy of the taradhin concept within the discourse of the Five Pillars of Tepuk Sakinah promoted by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) and to analyze its implications for Islamic family psychology. Taradhin (mutual consent) represents the fifth pillar in Kemenag’s Bimbingan Perkawinan (Pre-Marital Guidance) program, symbolizing balance and acceptance in marital relations. However, the transformation of this concept from classical spirituality to an institutional norm raises critical questions about its function, meaning, and psychological impact on couples’ well-being. This research employs a qualitative approach based on library research and uses Michel Foucault’s genealogical analysis. Data sources include official Kemenag documents, the Bimwin module, Tepuk Sakinah lyrics, and classical as well as modern literature on Fiqh and Positive Psychology. The analysis proceeded in three stages: archaeological mapping, genealogical deconstruction, and substantive interpretation. The findings reveal a shift in the meaning of ridha from a vertical spiritual dimension toward taradhin as a horizontal, institutionalized norm. Kemenag, as an apparatus of power-knowledge, normalizes taradhin through Tepuk Sakinah as a disciplinary technique designed to produce obedient sakinah family subjects. Functionally, mutual taradhin supports marital satisfaction and psychological well-being, yet when imposed repressively, it risks generating “false sakinah” that suppresses autonomy and emotional expression. Taradhin holds positive psychological potential for Islamic families if internalized consciously and equitably rather than as a disciplinary norm. Reformulating the taradhin discourse is essential to emphasize self-ethics, equality, and genuine psychological well-being within marital life.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relevance of the Prophet's hadith from the narration of Ahmad (164H-241H) number 14830 regarding the aspects of a person's happiness, which consist of righteous neighbors, comfortable transportation, and a spacious house in the context of housing development in the modern era. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach based on hadith literature analysis and sustainable development theory. The results of the study show that this hadith has a value that is very relevant to contemporary human needs. First, the concept of spacious house is understood as a decent, healthy dwelling that supports family welfare. Second, a righteous neighbor emphasizes the importance of social harmony in the housing environment, which is a major factor in creating peace of mind. Third, comfortable vehicle can be interpreted as a means of transportation that is safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly, which supports the daily activities of housing residents. This study concludes that the hadith provides an ethical and philosophical framework that is in line with the concept of modern development, particularly in creating a holistic residential environment: paying attention to physical aspects, social aspects, and mobility. Theoretically, this study enriches the study of the integration of hadith with sustainable development. Practically, the results of this study can be used as a reference for the government, developers, and the community in designing and building residential environments that are not only economically oriented but also focused on physical and spiritual well-being.

Abstract

This article examines the characteristics and transformations of Islamic law in the Islamic sultanates of Indonesia through a historical-normative approach combined with comparative analysis. The study aims to identify patterns of Islamic law implementation and to analyze its dynamic relationship with customary law (adat) and political authority during the pre-colonial period. Data were collected through library-based research, including legal manuscripts, royal chronicles, customary texts, and relevant scholarly literature. The findings demonstrate that Islamic law in the Islamic sultanates of Indonesia did not develop as a uniform or rigid system, but rather evolved in diverse, contextual, and adaptive forms. Four main models of Islamic law implementation are identified: normative-social, normative-formal, integrative adat–sharia, and legal codification models. These variations were shaped by local social structures, political authority, and indigenous legal traditions within each sultanate. The study further reveals that from its early development, Islamic law in Indonesia operated within a framework of legal pluralism through continuous processes of negotiation and accommodation. This research contributes to a deeper historical understanding of the foundations of contemporary Islamic law in Indonesia.

Abstract

Islam as an object of study and religious practice has broad dimensions, covering theological, social, and cultural aspects. The study of Islam in scientific discourse requires an interdisciplinary approach that combines various disciplines, such as religious studies, sociology, anthropology, and history, in order to understand the dynamics of Islam in the context of modern society. This study aims to explore how Islam is studied scientifically through various methodological approaches and to identify challenges and opportunities in interdisciplinary studies in the case study of the tradition of buka luwur kanjeng sunan kudus. By using qualitative methods in the form of literature reviews and critical analysis, this study found that an interdisciplinary approach allows for a more comprehensive understanding of Islam, both as a doctrine and as a socio-cultural phenomenon. The results of this study indicate that the integration of various disciplines in Islamic studies can enrich academic perspectives and provide deeper insights into the role of Islam in shaping the social and cultural life of society. Interdisciplinarity between culture and society in the case study of buka luwur kanjeng sunan kudus can improve cooperation and teach people to give alms. Meanwhile, interdisciplinary studies help us understand how religious practices can coexist with local traditions without losing their spiritual essence. Therefore, an interdisciplinary approach is a must in understanding Islam holistically and objectively in the academic realm.
