Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of boarding school education program management in improving Islamic morals at the Al-Qur'an Asy-Syafi'iyah Islamic Boarding School in Garut. This study uses a qualitative approach with field study methods, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of the boarding school leadership, administrators, ustadz/ustadzah, and students. The results of the study indicate that the management of the boarding school program at this Islamic boarding school runs in an integrated manner through careful planning, professional organization of human resources, consistent implementation of worship habits and moral values, as well as continuous monitoring and evaluation. The synergy between religious and general education, supported by the example of educators and by mandatory programs such as tahsin, tahfidz, and yellow book learning, can create an educational environment conducive to the development of Islamic morals in students. This study also identified several challenges, including the need to strengthen role models among senior students and the importance of collaborating with students' parents. The study concludes that the boarding school management model implemented at the Al-Qur'an Asy-Syafi'iyah Islamic Boarding School is effective in shaping students' Islamic morals and can serve as a reference for the development of Islamic boarding school education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a conceptual framework for the “Integrated Cooperative Learning Model in Islamic Religious Education (PAI)” that combines the advantages of Jigsaw, STAD, and Group Investigation with Islamic values to improve student learning outcomes. The method used is library research with a descriptive-analytical approach, including identification and selection of international and national literature Sinta 1–3 (2015–2025), content analysis, and meta-synthesis to synthesize model components, pedagogical principles, and implementation mechanisms. The results of the study indicate four core components, namely heterogeneous group organization, cooperative tasks based on the values of ukhūwah, ta’āwun, ikhlas, and amanah, individual and team responsibility, and joint evaluation, which are proven to predict an average increase in cognitive ≥ 15%, affective ≥ 12%, and psychomotor ≥ 10%. This model also maps three predictors of successful implementation in madrasas: facilitator quality, balance between structure and freedom of discussion, and curriculum support. In conclusion, this conceptual framework not only addresses theoretical needs but also provides practical guidance for Islamic Religious Education educators and proposes a foundation for future field research and curriculum policy development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in fostering students' morals in the digital era through a comparative case study at SMA Wanayasa (state) and SMK Ma'arif 4 Kebumen (private Islamic). Using a qualitative approach and case study design, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with 12 informants (teachers, students, and the principal), and analysis of school policy documents. The results of the study revealed three key findings: (1) PAI teachers play a dual role as educators and digital curators who filter negative content while developing platform-based materials such as educational TikTok and the "MoralTrack" application; (2) Technology integration increased student participation by 55%, but created a paradox between increased critical awareness (34% of students) and mental exhaustion due to content overdose (22%); (3) Significant differences were found in teachers' digital competence (62% in SMK vs. 35% in SMA) and achievement of Kohlberg's moral development stages (68% of SMK students reached the conventional stage vs. 52% in SMA), influenced by the intensity of digital case-based moral dilemma discussions. This study concludes that effective moral development in the digital era requires synergy between teachers' digital literacy, school-parent collaboration through a parental engagement dashboard, and the revitalization of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum based on algorithmic moral vulnerability. These findings revise the theory of role models (uswah hasanah) by incorporating virtual mentorship and data-driven moral assessment.

Abstract

This article examines the concept of al-nafs in classical exegesis through a comparative approach to two great exegetes, namely al-Ṭabarī and Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī. By focusing on three key verses, namely QS Yūsuf [12]:53, al-Qiyāmah [75]:2, and al-Fajr [89]:27–30, this study changes the epistemological shift in the construction of the meaning of the human soul from the traditional bayānī approach to a philosophical and psychological approach. Through the methods of text analysis and philosophical hermeneutics, it is found that al-Ṭabarī's exegesis emphasizes the authority of riwāyah and normative meaning, while al-Rāzī integrates rational, spiritual, and Sufi elements in his interpretation. These findings not only demonstrate the rich intellectual heritage of classical exegesis but also open up opportunities for actualizing the concept of al-nafs in the context of Islamic psychology, character education, and modern spirituality. Within a contemporary hermeneutical framework, this article proposes a rereading of exegesis as a space for historical and existential dialogue relevant to the challenges faced by today's Muslim community.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Islamic parenting as a strategy to strengthen the role of parents in children’s education through collaboration between Community Service Program (KKN) students and schools. Islamic parenting is defined as a value-based approach rooted in moral, spiritual, and educational principles, positioning parents as the child’s first school. The study adopts the SISDAMAS (Participatory Community Development System) approach, which emphasizes community involvement in all stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. The research site was TK Al-Kamilah, RW 08 Dusun 3, Kampung Bojong, Mekarsari Village, involving parents, teachers, KKN students, and local leaders. Findings indicate that the Islamic parenting seminar successfully enhanced parents’ awareness and skills in child-rearing, strengthened collaboration between families and schools, and produced Qur’an- and Hadith-based parenting modules that can be used continuously. The main challenges identified were parents’ limited understanding, the influence of digital media, and time constraints in conducting effective parenting practices. Practical implications suggest the need for regular parenting forums, mentoring programs for young families, and the integration of parenting initiatives into official village development agendas. This study contributes theoretically by integrating 21st-century parenting theories with Islamic parenting principles, and practically by offering a collaborative model that strengthens the role of families in children’s education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the management model applied in the habit of performing the Dhuha prayer as a means of developing religious character and discipline in students at the secondary school level, using a systemic approach based on POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling). The approach used is descriptive qualitative with a multiple case study strategy, utilizing participatory observation techniques and document analysis to obtain valid and contextual data. The results of the study indicate that the habit of performing the Dhuha prayer significantly influences the development of discipline, the automatic cultivation of religiosity, and the stability of students' character, especially when this practice is managed systematically through careful planning, consistent implementation, and continuous evaluation. These findings have high relevance for the field of Islamic education management, the development of character-based curriculum, the formulation of school policies that emphasize religious culture, and the integration of ritual practices into the structure of formal education habitus. The strength of this study lies in presenting a management model for the habit of institutionalized sunnah worship, not just a ritual routine, while also introducing the concept of "automatic religiosity" that can strengthen religious practices internally within the school environment. This model is expected to be a reference for the development of students' religious character in a structured and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This article examines the practice of child marriage in Indonesia from a gender equality perspective by exploring the causal factors, socio-cultural constructions, and implications for women's health, education, and position within the social structure. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and UNICEF show that the prevalence of child marriage remains high and its decline is very slow, indicating strong cultural roots, economic inequality, and unequal access to education. An international literature review confirms that low education, family economic pressure, and established social norms are the main determinants of this practice. From a health perspective, early pregnancy increases the risk of serious complications for both mother and baby and contributes to an intergenerational cycle of poverty. Gender analysis shows that child marriage reinforces unequal power relations between men and women, while limiting the space for identity development, social participation, and life opportunities for girls. From an Islamic perspective, the principles of gender equality and justice are guaranteed through the values of maqasid al-shari'ah, but their implementation is often hampered by biased social interpretations. This article emphasizes that the issue of child marriage cannot be separated from the structure of gender inequality and requires holistic interventions based on law, social, cultural, and theology to encourage sustainable change.

Abstract

Abstract

Darussalam Islamic Boarding School in Sumedang Regency empowers local surau (prayer houses) to cultivate noble morals in children, preparing them for religious, national, and civic roles. Inappropriate guidance risks impeding comprehension and character formation; thus, drawing on Muhammad Utsman Khusyah's framework, efforts target personality development, monotheism, worship, muamalah, and Islamic culture, with surau as hubs for activity and internalization. Employing Participatory Action Research (PAR), the author co-designed and evaluated surau empowerment programs. Primary data derive from empowered surau teachers and child mentors. Findings reveal: (1) extensive surau development led by boarding school alumni trained as local educators; (2) multifaceted strategies, including Islamic Character Classes (honesty, discipline, responsibility, cooperation, politeness via lectures, discussions, games, modeling, simulations), integrated worship, moral fostering, social initiatives, and administrator training; and (3) enhanced surau functions yielding stronger Islamic character in children, revitalizing surau as centers for worship, ethics, and community engagement.

Abstract

Indonesia's cultural and ethnic diversity holds great potential for social integration, but is also prone to conflict. In this context, religion plays a dual role: it can be both a trigger for tension and a bridge for peace. This study examines the role of religion as social capital in fostering harmony in a pluralistic society. The approach used was a qualitative literature study, analyzed thematically. The results indicate that religious social capital plays a crucial role in fostering peace in multicultural societies through three main elements: religious networks, social trust, and the integration of religious values with local culture, which fosters harmony. Concrete findings are demonstrated through studies of various communities such as peaceful Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), the Forum for Interfaith Harmony (FKUB), and the Gusdurian network, which implement inclusive education, open religious practices, and interfaith advocacy. These three elements form the foundation of social reconciliation based on spirituality and local wisdom, and demonstrate that religious organizations such as Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah can become agents of peace if they prioritize an inclusive and contextual approach. This study enriches social capital theory by integrating religious and local values, and offers a new direction in the development of inclusive Islamic education and interfaith dialogue relevant to societal realities.
