Abstract

This study examines the challenge of ad-dakhil (foreign elements) in Qur’anic interpretation, particularly through the Baṭhiniyah interpretive approach, which prioritizes inner meanings while neglecting the apparent (ẓāhir) meaning and established exegetical methodologies. Such interpretations are considered to have the potential to distort Qur’anic meanings and undermine the normative foundations of Islamic law. The study aims to critically analyze the concept of ad-dakhil within Baṭhiniyah exegesis and identify its methodological deviations, as well as scholarly perspectives on its legitimacy in Qur’anic studies. Employing library research with a qualitative-descriptive and analytical-critical approach, data were collected from classical and contemporary tafsir works, Islamic legal scholarship, and relevant books and journal articles. The analysis focuses on epistemological foundations, interpretive methods, and theological and normative implications. The findings reveal that Baṭhiniyah exegesis constitutes a major channel for the infiltration of ad-dakhil due to its disregard for linguistic rules, contextual considerations of revelation, and reliance on exclusive, unverifiable inner authority claims. Consequently, most exegetical scholars regard this approach as a methodological deviation that threatens a comprehensive understanding of Islamic teachings. The study recommends strengthening literacy in valid exegetical methodologies and encourages further research on other channels of ad-dakhil, including ideological, political, and philosophical influences, to preserve the integrity of Qur’anic interpretation.

Abstract

This study examines Imam Asy-Sya‘rawi’s concept of tadabbur in his Tafsîr Khawâtir, addressing the widespread belief that understanding the Qur’an requires advanced scholarly authority and the societal tendency to judge others rather than engage in self-reflection.. By focusing on four key verses where the command for tadabbur appears (An-Nisa’ 82, Al-Mu’minun 68, Muhammad 24, and Shad 29), this paper outlines Asy-Sya‘rawi’s distinctive interpretive method that links rational inquiry, spiritual receptivity, and social awareness. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach with a thematic tafsir method, this library research draws upon Tafsîr Khawâtir Asy-Sya‘rawî as the primary source, alongside secondary literature to contextualize his views within broader Qur’anic exegesis. The study reveals that tadabbur is not only a Qur’anic imperative but also as demonstrated in Asy-Sya‘rawi’s emphasis on spiritual sincerity, daily reflection, and ethical behavior. This study contributes to Qur’anic hermeneutics by highlighting a synthesis of spirituality, rationality, and thematic reflection in modern tafsir tradition.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the position of the Qur'an as the primary source of Islamic teachings and examine its normative and functional dimensions within the Islamic legal system. This study uses a library research approach with qualitative analysis methods on relevant classical and contemporary literature. This study discusses the etymological and terminological meaning of the Qur'an, the gradual process of revelation, and the classification of teachings that include the aspects of i'tiqadiyah, amaliyah, and khuluqiyah. The results show that the Qur'an holds a central position as a normative source that serves as the basis for the formation of theological, legal, and moral systems in Islam. In addition, the various nomenclatures of the Qur'an such as Al-Huda, Al-Kitab, and Al-Furqan reflect its multidimensional function in the lives of Muslims. This study emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive understanding of the Qur'an as the foundation of Islamic teachings in the context of science and life practice

Abstract

This article examines the process of Qur’anic codification and preservation from the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to the era of the Khulafā’ al-Rāsyidīn, addressing the limited systematic studies that view codification as a unified historical and scientific process. The study aims to identify the stages of Qur’anic codification, the verification mechanisms employed by early Muslim communities, and their epistemological significance in shaping Islamic scholarly tradition. Using a qualitative library research method with historical and epistemological approaches, data were collected from classical works on ʿUlūm al-Qur’ān, historical sources related to Qur’anic compilation, and recent academic publications. Data were analyzed through content analysis. The findings show that Qur’anic preservation was carried out through a layered verification system combining collective memorization and authenticated written records. The codification under Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq and the standardization of the muṣḥaf during the caliphate of ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān represent early scientific practices aimed at safeguarding the authority of the Qur’anic text. This study positions Qur’anic codification as an epistemological foundation for the development of Islamic sciences and as an early model of knowledge preservation in the Islamic tradition

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of dark jokes among adolescents reflects a shift in their understanding of humor, particularly humor involving sensitive topics that may provoke diverse reactions. This study aims to examine the practice and reception of dark jokes among adolescents by reviewing the ethics of joking in hadith and analyzing it through a cognitive psychology perspective to understand the mental processes underlying adolescents’ evaluation of humor. This research employed a qualitative approach using a literature review of sources related to hadith on the etiquette of joking, humor theories, and fundamental concepts of cognitive psychology concerning adolescent perception and emotional responses. The findings indicate that dark jokes are commonly used by adolescents to lighten the atmosphere, strengthen peer relationships, or express psychological pressure, although they may also potentially offend or harm others. These practices are not fully aligned with the ethical principles of joking in the hadith, which emphasize mindfulness in speech and the avoidance of causing emotional harm. From a cognitive psychology perspective, this discrepancy can be attributed to adolescents’ still-developing cognitive abilities, particularly in considering the social impact of their statements. This study highlights the importance of humor literacy that integrates ethical awareness and an understanding of adolescent cognitive development, enabling humor to be used more wisely and responsibly within social interactions.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly machine learning and deep learning, has brought significant changes to contemporary scientific practices. AI no longer functions solely as a computational tool, but plays an active role in the production, validation, and evaluation of scientific knowledge through data modelling and probabilistic inference. This development raises fundamental questions in the philosophy of science, particularly regarding the shift in the concept of scientific truth from the paradigm of empirical verification and causal explanation towards an approach based on prediction, mathematical approximation, and the management of uncertainty. This research aims to re-evaluate the status of scientific truth in the age of AI by philosophically analysing the relationship between uncertainty, computational knowledge, and scientific truth claims generated by AI models. The research method used is a qualitative study based on literature review and conceptual analysis of contemporary science and technology philosophy literature. The study results indicate that the integration of AI into scientific practice is driving a shift in the epistemology of science from a verifiative orientation towards a predictive epistemology that emphasises model reliability and instrumental validity. This research concludes that scientific truth in the AI era is more contextual and pragmatic, thus demanding an adaptive, reflective, and interdisciplinary framework for the epistemology of science. Theoretically, scientific truth in the age of artificial intelligence is more contextual, thus requiring an adaptive, reflective, and interdisciplinary framework for the epistemology of science as its main theoretical contribution.

Abstract

The substance of Islamic da'wah is a fundamental activity that must be continually actualized to meet the need for information and religious education in the digital era, which is highly susceptible to a paradigm of spiritual drought, moral and value decadence, and behavioral and cultural changes that can deviate from Islamic doctrinal values. This study aims to describe da'wah communication in the digital era as a philosophical foundation for the philosophy of science for contemporary society. Digital communication in da'wah can serve as a role model and pattern for instilling values, fostering character, and promoting exemplary behavior on social media. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection techniques including literature reviews and content analysis. Data analysis is systematically conducted using academic, scientific, and qualitative methods. The novelty and urgency of this research lie in its attempt to build an integrative da'wah philosophical paradigm as a new conceptual synthesis in da'wah scientific studies. The research gap that emerged is the absence of a comprehensive, integrated framework for da'wah philosophical science that explains its position, methods, and objectives as an independent science. Therefore, this research offers a new conceptual paradigm, namely the philosophy of integrative da'wah science, which places monotheism as the unifying principle between the essence, method, and value of da'wah. This paradigm not only strengthens the existence of da'wah as a complete and independent Islamic scientific discipline but also provides a new direction for the development of da'wah theory and practice that is scientific, contextual, and oriented towards social and spiritual transformation in the modern era.

Abstract

Silent treatment has emerged as a prevalent form of emotional abuse in marital relationships, yet its recognition within Islamic jurisprudence remains understudied. This study analyzes the phenomenon of silent treatment through the lens of Maqāṣid an-Nafs (preservation of the soul/self), Maqāṣid Al-Aql (preservation of the logical person) and both of this are one of the five fundamental objectives of Islamic law (Maqāṣid al-Sharī'ah). Using qualitative methodology and library research, this study examines how silent treatment violates the principle of psychological well-being protection in marriage. In this case, the researcher found several cases where silent treatment caused psychological damage, emotional suffering, disrupted marital harmony and if continued could cause mental impairment. The findings reveal that silent treatment contradicts the maqāṣid principle of preserving mental health (ḥifẓu al-nafs) by causing psychological harm, emotional distress, and disrupting marital harmony and if continuing this action will destroy the positive thinking (al-aql). Thus the researcher concludes that the silent treatment that causes this, is contrary to syari’ah law based on Maqāṣid syari’ah method (specially protecting the mind/health), so that family mediation (tahkim) is necessary. This study contributes to the discourse on Islamic family law by providing a maqashid based framework for understanding emotional abuse and offering practical implications for Islamic counselling and family dispute resolution.

Abstract

The establishment of ukhuwah is not only a normative text but must be applied in life, seeing the fact now that Muslims are stagnant due to the fading sense of brotherhood, it arises because of the frequent differences among Muslims that trigger divisions, the Qur'an has underlined that difference is the law that applies in this life, In addition to the difference is a divine will also for the sake of survival , at the same time in order to achieve the goal of life of beings on the stage of the earth. To establish ukhuwah Islamiah needed is not just an explanation of aspects of equality in religious views or just tolerance concerning differences of views. More important, however, are the joint measures implemented by different leaders and muballighs in their view. Abstract

This article is an attempt to analyze the position and authority of the Sunnah in the Ahmadiyya istinbāṭ al-aḥkām. This departs from the epistemological claim of the Ahmadiyya who explicitly identify themselves as Aḥnāf (followers of the Ḥanafi school), who are essentially ahl ar-ra’y, on the one hand, and at the same time claim to be ahl al-ḥadīs, on the other. This position is methodologically unique and interesting, because it has the potential to create tension between rational reasoning and the authority of hadith texts. This paper is a literature review (library research) by analyzing primary sources of the Ahmadiyya. The results of the study indicate that the sunnah/hadith for the Ahmadiyya is a secondary source of law, by distinguishing between binding sunnah (mulzim li al-hukmi) and non-binding sunnah (gairu mulzim li al-hukmi). However, the authority of the Sunnah is limited to its confirmatory (ta’kid) and explanatory (mubayyin) functions regarding the Qur’an, while its formative (making new laws), takhṣīṣ, and naskh functions are explicitly rejected. This limitation has the effect of narrowing the normative space of the Sunnah. Although theoretically it does not recognize the formative function of the hadith (making new laws), in practice, the Ahmadiyya uses the hadith to create new laws, namely when legitimizing the mahdīth and mujaddiqīyah of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, even though this is not mentioned in the Qur’an. This “narrow” authority of the Sunnah has consequences for the high authority of the caliph in the practice of istinbāṭ al-ahkām of the Ahmadiyya. Of course, this is a characteristic feature of istinbāṭ al-ahkām, where the caliph has the highest authority as the highest interpreter. This finding also emphasizes the importance of studying Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and Islamic jurisprudence (ushul fiqh) in understanding the dynamics of Ahmadiyya thought more comprehensively.
