Abstract

Smartphone is a communication tool that has the potential to be contaminated with microorganisms that can be transmitted through direct contact, especially on the skin. Microbes can survive on the surface of mobile phones and serve as potential transporters of microorganisms. The use of hand sanitizer is useful for inhibiting and even killing microorganisms. Thus, the study focused on isolating bacteria from smartphone screens, especially Stappylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp bacteria and looking at the effectiveness of hand sanitizers in inhibiting bacterial growth. This study aims to isolate Staphylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp bacteria on smartphone screens and test the ability to use hand sanitizers against bacteria attached to smartphone screens. This type of research uses the bacterial isolation method. The target population is the academic community of the Polytechnic of St Paul Surakarta totaling 30 cell phones. The object of the research was the smartphone screen swab of the academic community for the presence of Staphylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp bacteria and hand sanitizer as an inhibitor of bacterial growth. In 30 smartphone samples, Stapylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp were found. This study uses the chard chart method. Hypothesis H0 did not find Staphylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp bacteria while Ha was found Staphylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp bacteria on the smartphone screen. Abstract

Thrombocyte concentrate transfusion was one of the important medical treatments in increasing the number of thrombocytes in patients with medical indications of thrombocytopenia. The monitoring of blood product quality from upstream to downstream must be considered in order to obtain a good quality thrombocyte concentrate. Thrombocyte concentrate was prone to change during storage due to significant changes between in vitro and in vivo conditions. The changes in thrombocyte concentrate quality that commonly occur during storage were the decreased platelet levels, increased of acidity (pH) and turbidity, and loss of thrombocyte swirling in the plasma. Therefore, it was necessary to conduct research to determine the quality of thrombocyte concentrates during the 5-day shelf life to find out whether at the end of the shelf life, these blood products were still suitable for transfusion to the patients. Several tools used in this study were Hematology Analyzer, blood scales, and pH meter. The results of successive studies showed that the thrombocyte concentrate product did not meet the basic quality standards because the number of thrombocytes per unit was below the standard that was set by Regulation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 91 Years 2015.

Abstract

Data on the prevalence of causes of maternal death in Indonesia are mostly caused by bleeding. The average prevalence of maternal deaths due to bleeding in Indonesia in 2020 is (28.8%). One of the risk factors for postpartum hemorrhage is anemia. Anemia in pregnant women can cause postpartum hemorrhage because low Hb levels can affect the workings of the uterine muscles and result in impaired contractions during labour. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between anemia and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage at the Delima Asri Karawang maternity hospital in 2020. This study used an analytical study with a case control approach. The population in this study was 287 mothers giving birth during 2020. The number of case and control samples was made in a 1:1 ratio by following the number of case samples that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, namely there were 68 case samples and 68 control samples. Bivariate data analysis using the chi square test assisted with SPSS 26 for window. The results of the study showed that mothers with postpartum hemorrhage experienced anemia (85%), mothers without postpartum hemorrhage were not anemic (88.2%). The Chi square statistical test showed that there was a relationship between anemia and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage with a value (p = 0.000). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between anemia and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage at the Delima Asri Karawang Maternity Hospital in 2020.

Abstract

Hemoglobin is the oxygen-carrying compound in red blood cells. A low hemoglobin content indicates severe anemia this is due to pregnancy and the presence of heavy metals such as Lead (Pb). Lead Pb that enters through the respiratory tract and digestive tract will absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and distributed to other tissues via blood. This study aims to determine Hb levels in the blood of mice (Mus Musculus) exposed to lead. This research method is experimental using 25 male mice which divided into 5 groups, namely the control group and the treatment group with the administration of Pb acetate by oral route for 1 week, 2 week, 3 weeks, and 4 weeks. The sample taken is the blood of mice obtained from heart to be checked for hemoglobin levels according to the time of exposure. The results of this study obtained hemoglobin levels in the P1 group of 11,2 g/dL and the P2 group of 10,078 g/dL, the Hb value includes into the category of very mild anemia. While the P3 group was 8,16 g/dL and the P4 group of 7,54 g/dL including the category of mild anemia. On the control group of 12,82 g/dL was included in the Normal Hemoglobin. Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that giving exposure to Lead Pb to mice (Mus Musculus) has an effect on decreasing levels of Hb.

Abstract

Quail egg yolk contains high cholesterol which can trigger dyslipidemia. If Cholesterol is consumed in excess, will increase lipid profile, which can increase LDL cholesterol levels. Bay leaf extract contains several active compounds, like quercetin, a class of flavonoids with antioxidants that can prevent LDL oxidation. The aim of this study is to ensure the effectiveness of bay leaf extract on LDL cholesterol levels in white rats induced by quail egg yolk. The animal tested in this study were male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) with the Sprague Dawley strain. Samples were randomly selected and divided into five groups: three groups given quail egg yolk and bay leaf extract in various doses of 0.18 g/day, 0.36 g/day and 0.72 g/day, positive control given quail egg yolk, and negative control without treatment. The ANOVA test showed that there were significant results between the treatment groups, positive control and negative control (p<0.05). Next, the BNJ test showed that giving bay leaf extract (0.18 g/day, 0.36 g/day) had a significant effect on LDL cholesterol levels (p<0.05), while a dose of 0.72 g/day showed that not significant (p>0.05), so we can conclude that the dose of 0.72 g/day was the most effective in preventing an increase in LDL cholesterol levels.
