Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), as the oldest Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, face complex challenges in developing effective leadership among their administrators, including at Hidayatul Mubtadiin Dayamurni Islamic Boarding School. This study aims to identify the role of mirroring behavior in enhancing the effectiveness of leadership among pesantren administrators and to analyze the relationship between interpersonal mirroring and administrative performance, including its impact on discipline and character formation among students (santri). The research problem focuses on the uncertainty surrounding the relationship between two-way mirroring behavior and leadership effectiveness, as well as the risk of inconsistency that may threaten the sustainability of the administrative system. This study employs a qualitative approach using a field research model with a descriptive-analytical design. The research was conducted within the environment of Hidayatul Mubtadiin Dayamurni Islamic Boarding School, with administrators and students as the research subjects. The findings reveal that mirroring behavior manifests in three main forms: verbal mirroring (imitation of the kyai/nyai’s language style and intonation), non-verbal mirroring (imitation of body language, dress style, and gestures), and emotional synchronization (alignment of emotional states with role models). These findings confirm that administrators act as a “mirror” of authority figures, creating a cascading or tiered leadership effect that enhances students’ compliance based on respect and exemplary conduct.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept, implementation, and challenges of applying Multiple Intelligences within the perspective of Islamic education using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The research method employed is a systematic literature review by collecting, selecting, and analyzing various scientific articles relevant to the research topic. Data sources were obtained from national journals published between 2022 and 2026. The analysis process was carried out through several stages, including article identification, selection based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and synthesis of research findings relevant to the study theme. The results indicate that the concept of Multiple Intelligences aligns with the principles of Islamic education, which emphasize the holistic development of human potential, including intellectual, spiritual, social, and moral aspects. The implementation of this concept in Islamic education can be carried out through various learning strategies such as discussions, project-based learning, religious practices, and the use of diverse instructional media. This approach has been proven to enhance student engagement, learning creativity, and understanding of Islamic values. However, the implementation of Multiple Intelligences also faces several challenges, including limited teacher understanding of the concept, inadequate learning facilities and infrastructure, and evaluation systems that still focus primarily on cognitive aspects. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve teacher competence and institutional support in developing learning strategies based on Multiple Intelligences. In conclusion, this approach is expected to contribute to improving the quality of Islamic education in a more holistic and student-centered manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation, and evaluation of interactive technology-based media in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SMP Ma’arif 1 Metro and to examine its implications for students’ internalization of religious values. This research employs a qualitative descriptive field approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with PAI teachers and seventh-grade students, and documentation. The findings indicate that interactive media such as animated videos, multimedia presentations, and digital quizzes (Quizizz and Kahoot) enhance students’ engagement, motivation, and conceptual understanding. More importantly, the use of interactive media supports the internalization of religious values through three stages: moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action, as proposed by Thomas Lickona. Students demonstrate improved understanding of values such as honesty, responsibility, and tolerance, accompanied by reflective attitudes and practical application in classroom activities. However, the implementation still faces challenges, including limited technological infrastructure and varying levels of teachers’ digital competence. This study concludes that interactive technology-based media can serve as an effective pedagogical tool in strengthening both learning quality and religious character formation when supported by proper pedagogical guidance

Abstract

This study examines the internalization of religious moderation values through Gus Dur's cultural da'wah in Gerakan Pemuda Ansor (GP Ansor) of Toto Katon Village, Punggur District, Central Lampung. The phenomena of radicalism and intolerance pose serious threats to the pluralistic nation, making religious moderation an imperative that must be upheld. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. This research addresses three main issues: (1) how Gus Dur's cultural da'wah is understood and practiced by GP Ansor members; (2) how the internalization of religious moderation values takes place within the community; and (3) what factors support or hinder this process. The findings reveal that GP Ansor has successfully internalized religious moderation values through structured cadre education, participation in local cultural traditions, and exemplary personal conduct. The implementation of Gus Dur's cultural da'wah through local traditions, personal modeling, and accessible humorous language proved effective and aligned with the community's existing cultural practices. The internalization process follows three stages: moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action. Supporting factors include NU leader support, structured cadre programs, strong local religious traditions, and coordination with higher-level GP Ansor. Inhibiting factors encompass radical social media influence, limited understanding among some members, and resource constraints. This study affirms that Gus Dur's da'wah approach remains highly relevant and effective in shaping moderate character among grassroots youth

Abstract

This research is motivated by low student learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) lessons, caused by the use of conventional learning methods and the lack of use of interactive learning media. This condition results in low student activity, attention, and participation in the learning process. This study aims to determine the application of the Duck Race interactive learning media on the Online Stopwatch website, analyze changes in student learning motivation, and identify supporting factors and obstacles in its use. This study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, implemented in two cycles: Cycle I and Cycle II, with seventh-grade students of SMP Islam Plus Hidayatut Thullab, Central Lampung as the subjects. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis employed an interactive analysis model that encompasses data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the application of the Duck Race interactive learning media increased student learning motivation from Cycle I to Cycle II. In Cycle I, student learning motivation began to increase but was not evenly distributed. However, in Cycle II, significant improvements were seen, indicated by increased student activity, attention, enthusiasm, and participation in learning. Furthermore, the use of this media can create a more active, engaging, and enjoyable learning environment. The successful implementation of this learning media is supported by the availability of technological facilities, teacher creativity, and student enthusiasm. However, there are challenges in its implementation, such as limited learning time and internet connection stability. Therefore, the interactive learning media Duck Race can be an effective, innovative alternative to increase student motivation in Islamic Religious Education (ISE)..

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Thoriqoh Naqsyabandiyah Kholidiyah in improving the religious spirituality of students at the Baitul Mustaqim Punggur Islamic Boarding School, Central Lampung. This study was motivated by the decline in morals and weak spiritual values among students, so that more focused and sustainable religious guidance is needed. The validity of the data is maintained through source triangulation techniques, using qualitative research methods with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The subjects of the study were female students who actively participated in the amaliah Thoriqoh Naqsyabandiyah. The results showed that the concept of religious spirituality was built through the practice of heart awareness (dzikrullah), self-control (muraqabah), suluk, tawajjuh, rabithah, as well as the habit of living simply and disciplined. This process contributes to the formation of strong religious characters in students, such as sincerity, patience, humility, and responsibility. The practices of the Naqsyabandiyah Thoriqoh (Islamic teachings) play a role in fostering inner peace, enhancing religious discipline, and training students' self-control. These practices also encourage more religious behavioral changes and instill important values in daily life. This study concludes that the Naqsyabandiyah Thoriqoh is an effective form of spiritual development in shaping character and strengthening the religious spirituality of students in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of smartphone usage intensity on students’ learning discipline at MTs Miftahul Ulum, East Lampung. The research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design. The population consisted of 164 students, with a sample of 122 respondents selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring smartphone usage intensity and learning discipline. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, linearity tests, simple linear regression, hypothesis testing (t-test), and the coefficient of determination with the assistance of SPSS.The results indicate that smartphone usage intensity does not have a significant effect on students’ learning discipline, as shown by a significance value of 0.236 (> 0.05) and a coefficient of determination of 1.2%. These findings suggest that learning discipline is not directly influenced by smartphone usage intensity, but rather by other factors such as self-control, learning motivation, and the educational environment. This study contributes novel insights by examining this relationship within the context of a madrasah, which has distinct religious characteristics. The implication of this study highlights the importance of managing smartphone use in a wise and educational manner to support the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Islamic religious instruction in promoting tolerance within the multicultural community of Desa Bumi Mas. The research is grounded in the social reality that, although interreligious relations in the village are generally peaceful, the internalization of tolerance through Islamic religious instruction has not yet been fully developed. Several issues were identified, including residents’ difficulty in accepting differing opinions, the presence of relatively exclusive religious perspectives, and the tendency for tolerance to be shaped more by long-standing social and cultural habits rather than by a deep understanding of Islamic teachings. This study employs a qualitative method using a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews with religious leaders and community figures, observation of religious and social activities, and documentation. The findings show that Islamic Religious Education in Desa Bumi Mas functions as a medium for the transformation, transaction, and internalization of tolerance values within the community. Through various religious activities such as study gatherings, sermons, and community social activities, religious leaders convey values of tolerance including good moral character, mutual respect, maintaining harmony, and not forcing beliefs on others. These values are not only communicated through one-way teaching but also through two-way interactions between religious leaders and community members in activities such as mutual cooperation and village deliberations. Through this process, tolerance values are gradually internalized in community life, as reflected in the peaceful coexistence of residents despite differences in religious backgrounds. However, some community members still perceive tolerance mainly as a social habit, indicating the need for continuous Islamic religious guidance to strengthen tolerance as an integral part of religious values.
