Abstract

Introduction: Mental health is an essential component of achieving overall well-being and optimal health. However, in many developing countries, mental health issues continue to receive relatively limited attention and are often not prioritized compared to the management of infectious diseases. In this context, many adolescent girls in Indonesia still do not fully understand the essence of self-love, which refers to the ability to appreciate, accept, and value oneself. Objective: This community service program aimed to enhance adolescents' knowledge and understanding of mental health and self-love through health education delivered using interactive learning media. Method: The educational intervention was conducted through lectures, group discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. The community service activity was carried out on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Kendal and involved 17 students, consisting of 10 male students and 7 female students. All participants who attended the program were included as the study sample. Result: The results showed an increase in knowledge among all participants after receiving health education on mental health and self-love. The pre-test scores reflected the participants' level of knowledge before the educational intervention, while the post-test scores indicated their level of knowledge after the intervention. Overall, the pre-test scores ranged from 40 to 75, with a mean score of 59.1, whereas the post-test scores increased to a range of 80 to 100, with a mean score of 91.4. Conclusion: The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge of mental health and self-love following the educational intervention. The “Self-Love in the Digital Era” program was designed as a preventive and educational effort to address mental health challenges by promoting self-acceptance and the wise use of social media, thereby fostering resilience and self-confidence among adolescents.

Abstract

Introduction: Postoperative pain is common after Caesarean section and may delay recovery. Strawberry aromatherapy patches offer a complementary non-pharmacological approach by promoting relaxation, improving patient comfort, and reducing pain perception. Objective: this communityservice activity aimed to evaluate the implementation of strawberry aromatherapy patches in reducing pain intensity in patients following a cesarean section. In addition, this study also examines the influence of respondent characteristics—including age, parity, and delivery history—on the reduction in pain levels experienced by patients. Method: This community service activity involved 30 post-Caesarean section patients in the Bougenville Ward. Strawberry aromatherapy patches were applied for 6–8 hours, and pain intensity was assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: The findings demonstrated that strawberry aromatherapy patches effectively reduced pain intensity among the 30 participating patients. Normality testing showed that pre-intervention pain scores were not normally distributed (p = 0.037), whereas post-intervention scores were normally distributed (p = 0.192), indicating different distribution patterns before and after the intervention. Conclusion: The application of strawberry aromatherapy patches reduced postoperative pain intensity in patients following Caesarean section, with mean pain scores decreasing from 5.35 before the intervention to 3.17 afterward. These findings suggest that strawberry aromatherapy patches may serve as a practical complementary non-pharmacological approach to postoperative pain management.

Abstract

Introduction: Reproductive health is an essential component of adolescent development, particularly for adolescent girls who experience significant physical, psychological, and social changes. Limited knowledge and inadequate access to accurate reproductive health information increase the risk of reproductive health problems. Therefore, community-based reproductive health education is needed to empower adolescent girls to adopt healthy reproductive behaviors. Objective: This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of adolescent girls regarding reproductive health through a community-based health education program. Methods: This community service employed a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 30 adolescent girls aged 14–19 years in Baurung Village, Majene Regency. The intervention consisted of interactive health education sessions, group discussions, educational games, demonstrations using reproductive organ models, and the distribution of educational booklets and posters. Participants' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors were assessed before and after the intervention using a structured questionnaire. Results: The program demonstrated positive outcomes across all evaluated domains. The mean knowledge score increased from 52% before the intervention to 87% after the intervention. Attitude scores improved from 45% to 84%, while behavior scores increased from 44% to 83%. Participants also showed greater awareness of reproductive hygiene, adolescent developmental changes, and appropriate reproductive health practices. Conclusion: Community-based reproductive health education effectively improved the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of adolescent girls regarding reproductive health. The findings suggest that a peer-group empowerment approach can be adopted as a sustainable community-based strategy to strengthen adolescent reproductive health promotion and prevention programs.

Abstract

Introduction: Low participation in the Chronic Disease Management Program (Program Pengelolaan Penyakit Kronis/Prolanis) remains a challenge in primary healthcare services, particularly among patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Preliminary assessment conducted during the residency program at UPTD BLUD Batunyala Public Health Center identified limited knowledge regarding Prolanis, inadequate dissemination of information, and suboptimal community engagement as the main factors contributing to low attendance in Prolanis activities. These findings became the basis for implementing a community-based health education program to improve participants' understanding and encourage active participation. Objective: The purpose of this service was to optimize community participation in the Prolanis program through community-based health education among patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus in the working area of UPTD BLUD Batunyala Public Health Center. Method: This public service was conducted by implementing community-based health education using an educational and participatory approach. Activities included interactive lectures, group discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and the distribution of educational leaflets and posters. The program targeted patients diagnosed with hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus and was carried out collaboratively with healthcare professionals and community health volunteers. Result: A total of 21 participants completed the community service program. Before the educational intervention, 17 participants (81.0%) demonstrated inadequate knowledge of the Prolanis program, while only 4 participants (19.0%) had adequate knowledge. Following the community-based health education intervention, all participants (21 participants, 100%) demonstrated adequate understanding of the Prolanis program, hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and the importance of regular participation in Prolanis activities. Participants also showed greater enthusiasm during the educational sessions, actively engaged in discussions, and expressed increased motivation to participate in future Prolanis activities. The use of visual educational media (leaflets and posters) facilitated participants' comprehension and supported more effective health promotion. Conclusion: Community-based health education is an effective strategy to improve knowledge and promote community participation in the Prolanis program. Strengthening health education using participatory methods and visual educational media may enhance community engagement and support the sustainability of chronic disease management programs in primary healthcare settings
