Abstract

Leadership entails crafting out ideologies and formulating plans that would foster development and alleviate the problems of the society. President Xi Jinping has proffered a methodology on how to study historical phenomena and its inherent problems. His ideology was built on existing thoughts of two prominent Chinese leaders, Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping. This study examines the thoughts and ideas of President Xi with the aim of exposing his blueprints for the economic planning and development of China. Data obtained through typical case sampling and content analysis was used for this study. Certain factors such as economic, political, cultural, social and ecological development were selected for this study. It adopts the theory of historical materialism to comprehend this study. It ascertains that a society’s mode of production will determine its social, political and intellectual development. It argues that the political leadership of a country should engineer the socio-economic development of the citizenry by making full use of the productive forces of the economy. Thus, President Xi has highlighted 14 basic areas in which government should focus to expedite socio-economic development and progress of the nation. This work concludes that the interplay of the productive forces of the economy through the vision of the political leadership of the state can actually champion the required socio-economic development and advancement.

Abstract

This study is based on the rise of the gig economy in Indonesia, particularly in the online transportation sector, which offers work flexibility but often comes with economic vulnerability for its workers. Online drivers face income uncertainty and a lack of social security, threatening the welfare of their households. This study uses qualitative methods with a literature review and in-depth interviews to examine these issues. The theoretical framework combines the concepts of the precariat, digital political-economic analysis, and human security perspectives to understand the vulnerabilities experienced by workers. The results show that the flexible work system based on digital platforms creates economic uncertainty for online driver workers. This situation is characterized by fluctuating and unguaranteed income, a partnership status that is vulnerable to termination at any time, and very limited social protection. In conclusion, the pseudo-flexibility in this gig economy model creates precarious conditions that undermine the economic security of online drivers and negatively impact their families' welfare. Therefore, structural efforts are needed to improve protection and certainty for workers in Indonesia's gig economy ecosystem.

Abstract

This study examines the practice of multi-stakeholder collaboration in the implementation of policies by the Kendari City Government in Southeast Sulawesi Province, which established the Regional Poverty Reduction Coordination Team (TKPKD). This collaborative practice is then formulated as a framework for the characteristics or key elements of sustainable collaboration. A case study methodology was used to explore various types of data for this case study of multi-stakeholder collaboration practices in Kendari City.Data were collected from sources that are more qualitative in character through documentary analysis, in- depth interviews, direct observations and field visits. The in-depth interview framework was developed through detailed documentary analysis. Open-ended and semi- structured duplication with stakeholders to achieve the goal of understanding TKPKD collaboration practices in the implementation of poverty alleviation policies. The results  of  the  study  indicate  that  multi-party collaboration practices in a series of interacting TKPKD institutional conditions can lead to sustainable transformation by implementing the main characteristics or elements of collaboration, namely stakeholder involvement, government roles, social learning, institutional capacity and collaborative leadership which when conceptualized will ultimately lead to transformation in the implementation of sustainable poverty alleviation policies.

Abstract

This study examines the evolution of open government in Tunisia by mapping scholarly literature published between 2011 and 2025, following the country’s accession to the Open Government Partnership. Using bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer, the study analyzes review articles retrieved through Publish or Perish and indexed in Google Scholar, focusing on transparency, public participation, and accountability as core dimensions of open government. The findings identify three dominant thematic clusters—fiscal transparency and access to information, public participation and democratic innovation, and institutional accountability and digital governance—reflecting both global discourse and Tunisia’s post-revolution governance trajectory. The results reveal a shift from exploratory research toward more consolidated analyses of implementation and institutionalization. However, the study highlights a persistent gap between normative commitments and practical outcomes, as transparency and participation have not consistently produced accountability. To address this, the study proposes the Integrated Open Government Nexus, which conceptualizes these dimensions as sequentially and causally linked within an integrated governance system. The study contributes to advancing theoretical understanding and offers policy insights for strengthening open government in transitional contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the normative legitimacy of political parties from a Qur’anic perspective by analyzing Qur’anic political-ethical principles and their relevance to Indonesia’s party system. Employing a qualitative approach based on library research with a descriptive–analytical design, this study draws primarily on Qur’anic verses related to amānah (trust), justice (‘adl), deliberation (shūrā), amr ma‘rūf nahy munkar (enjoining good and preventing wrongdoing), and social unity (al-waḥdah). These verses are analyzed through classical and contemporary tafsīr aḥkām, particularly the works of al-Ṭabarī, al-Qurṭubī, and ‘Alī aṣ-Ṣābūnī. Data are examined using qualitative content analysis to identify dominant normative themes, trace interpretive patterns, and inductively relate them to the functional roles and institutional practices of political parties within Indonesia’s democratic system. The findings indicate that the Qur’an neither legitimizes nor delegitimizes political parties on the basis of their formal institutional structure, but rather on the extent to which they operationalize Qur’anic ethical principles in the exercise of political power. Accordingly, the normative legitimacy of political parties in the Qur’anic perspective is functional and conditional, contingent upon their commitment to substantive justice, public accountability, deliberative participation, and collective public welfare in governance.

Abstract

This study examines the social conflict resolution model in the fishing community of Lhok Simpang Mamplam, Bireuen Regency. The focus of the study is on conflicts that occur between fishermen, particularly during the peak fishing season when competition for territorial fishing grounds escalates. This study aims to identify local wisdom in dispute resolution and analyze the settlement model applied in the local fishing community. The study used qualitative methods with a descriptive approach.  Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, non-participatory observation, and documentation studies. The research informants consisted of the Panglima Laot (the Commanders of the Sea), fishermen, and community leaders who were selected purposively. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that dispute resolution in Lhok Simpang Mamplam is carried out through customary law mechanisms led by the Panglima Laot. Forms of local wisdom identified include suloh, customary deliberation, peusijuk, and peumat jaroe, all of which are part of the peacemaking and social restoration process. Dispute resolution models are implemented in stages, depending on the level of the problem, from direct agreement between the parties to customary deliberation. Research findings show that the dispute resolution played by Panglima Laot based on local wisdom is still effective in maintaining order, strengthening social cohesion, and preventing the spread of conflict among fishing communities.

Abstract

Islamic legal principles in the contemporary era. It aims to describe the practice of mappenre' dui' in Tanete Riattang District, Bone, and to analyze its conformity with Islamic teachings. Employing a qualitative methodology, data were collected through in-depth interviews with customary leaders, heads of religious affairs offices, and community members, as well as through documentary review. The analysis was conducted thematically using a sociological-legal approach. The findings reveal that mappenre' dui' carries positive value as a cultural heritage that reinforces kinship ties, respect, and familial responsibility. Nevertheless, its contemporary practice frequently gives rise to Shari'a-related concerns, including the presence of the prospective groom, the exchange of rings, pre-marital physical interaction, and a tendency toward extravagance in ceremonial proceedings. This situates the tradition in a dilemma: on one hand, it remains broadly compatible with Islamic law through its social values; on the other, it risks deviation if left unregulated. Drawing on the sociology of Islamic law, the study argues that mappenre' dui', amid ongoing cultural change, may be preserved as authentic 'urf (customary practice) provided it is implemented in accordance with the principles of simplicity, protection of honor, strengthening of social solidarity, and avoidance of practices that contravene Islamic law.

Abstract

Indonesian Muslims divide their inheritance based on two legal systems: Islamic law and customary law (adat). This study examines the distribution of inheritance in the Mandar community, West Sulawesi, in the context of the harmonization of Islamic law and customary law in Banggae District, Majene Regency, from the perspective of legal sociology. The purpose of this research is to determine the distribution of inheritance based on customs. This research is a qualitative case study and a field study. The population consists of all residents of Banggae District. Data collection was carried out using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The data were then analyzed using the sociological theory of Islamic law, editing, recording, and organizing techniques, and conclusions were drawn using inductive, deductive, and comparative analysis. This study concludes that the distribution of inheritance in the Mandar community, especially in Banggae, Majene, is carried out through Islamic law and customary law mechanisms, based on a peaceful agreement between the parties. In the sociology of law, the agreement with the deliberation mechanism to divide inheritance is a custom that has become a living law in society, so that there is harmonization between Islamic law and custom.

The results of the study show that the democratic parenting style adopted by Christian families is the most effective approach in fostering values of tolerance because it encourages open communication. children's participation, and empathy for differences.
