Abstract

Thyroid disorders are a problematic condition in individuals due to dysfunction of the thyroid gland, such as changes in its form and function. The most common thyroid disorders include hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. This study aims to identify and analyze TSH, FT3, and FT4 levels in individuals diagnosed with thyroid disorders. This research uses a cross-sectional method by collecting secondary data. Secondary data for this research was obtained from records of TSH, FT3 and FT4 hormone examinations in the laboratory at Anutaloko Parigi Regional Hospital. This data covers the period January to December 2024, then processed and analyzed using descriptive statistical tests in SPSS, then presented in table format. Based on age characteristics, the majority of respondents with thyroid disorders were aged 25-59 years with a percentage of 25 people with hyperthyroidism and 11 people with hypothyroidism. Respondents with the most thyroid disorders were diagnosed with hyperthyroidism rather than hypothyroidism. The total number of patients who had TSH, FT3 and FT4 checked at Anutaloko Parigi Regional Hospital found that patients with hyperthyroidism were predominantly female and aged 25-59 years.

Abstract

PT Cahaya Bintang Olympic is one of the furniture processing industries with a high risk of accidents and occupational illnesses, particularly in the cutting area.  One safeguard for workplace safety and health is the company's requirement to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  The aim of this study is to determine and examine how workers' compliance with PPE use in the cutting area is impacted by their comfort level and length of service.  36 workers made up the sample for this cross-sectional study, which employed an analytical descriptive method. Compliance with PPE use is the dependent variable, whereas duration of service and comfort level with PPE use are the independent variables.  Questionnaires and observation sheets were used to gather data, and the chi-square test was used for analysis.  According to the findings, the majority of employees fell into the long tenure category (52.8%), felt at ease using personal protective equipment (72.2%), and cooperated with PPE use (83.3%).  PPE comfort with compliance with PPE use (p = 0.000) and length of service are significantly correlated with compliance with PPE use (p = 0.005).  To maintain the comfort level of PPE use, it is advised that businesses enhance PPE comfort through suitable testing and changes.

Abstract

Air pollution is one of the major public health challenges in Indonesia. Coal mining areas are air polluted and vulnerable to air pollution, especially PM2.5 dust particles. Air pollution in coal mining areas if not managed can cause degradation of the atmospheric environment. The impact of unmanaged PM2.5 can cause harm to humans, especially respiratory health problems and even death. This article aimed to summarize several relevant scientific articles on the description of the impact of PM2.5 exposure on public health that occurs due to coal mining. This article used the systematic review method. The literature search used two scientific databases, namely Google Scholar and Science Direct published in the range of 2016-2024. There were 1133 articles retrieved in the initial selection, and at the end there were 10 articles included in the systematic review. Based on the review conducted on the selected articles, the results show that coal mining can have several negative impacts on the health of the surrounding community, which can cause various acute respiratory infections, asthma, coughing, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), digestive disorders, cardiovascular disorders, and accumulation of PM2.5 that exceeds the threshold and in a long time can cause death.

Abstract

Diabetic ulcers are a condition that occurs in individuals suffering from diabetes mellitus due to damage to the nerves and peripheral arteries, leading to wound infections and damage to the skin tissue. The focus of this research is to determine the prevalence by gender, the types of bacteria that infect diabetic ulcers, and the patterns of antibiotic sensitivity at a hospital in Yogyakarta in 2024. This research employs a descriptive analytic design using a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique uses total sampling, selecting all members of the population who meet inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data for this study were obtained from medical records during the period from January 1st to December 31st, 2024, with a total sample size of 86 diabetic ulcer patients. Of these patients, 53 are male and 33 are female who suffer from Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with complications of diabetic ulcers. In addition, this research found 26 types of bacteria, where gram-negative bacteria are more dominant with 51 samples, while gram-positive bacteria amount to 35 samples. The most dominant type of gram-negative bacteria detected is Escherichia coli, while the most commonly identified gram-positive bacteria is Staphylococcus aureus. The antibiotics that are sensitive to gram-negative bacteria are meropenem, cefepime, and chloramphenicol. Meanwhile, the effective antibiotics against gram-positive bacteria are linezolid, gentamicin, and ciprofloxacin.

Abstract

Anemia is still a public health problem in Indonesia, especially in vulnerable groups such as children and women. Knowledge and attitudes of parents and teachers play an important role in efforts to prevent anemia from an early age. Health education is a potential strategy in increasing knowledge and forming attitudes that support anemia prevention behavior. This study aims to determine the effect of health education on the level of knowledge and attitudes of parents and teachers related to anemia in Putra I Lambheu Kindergarten and Putra IV Ajun Kindergarten, Aceh Besar District. The study used a quantitative approach with a kuasi-eksperimental design. The sample amounted to 40 respondents consisting of student guardians and teachers, taken using quota sampling technique. The educational intervention was given in one session, and data were collected through pre-test and post-test questionnaires, then analyzed using the t-test. The results showed that there was a difference between knowledge before and after being given health education related to anemia (p value 0.031), while attitudes had no difference (p value 0.563). It can be concluded that health education is effective in increasing the knowledge of student guardians and teachers about anemia, but has not had a significant impact on attitude change.

Abstract

Chronic disease is a major health problem that causes death worldwide, one of which is hypertension. Based on data from the Oesapa Health Center, the number of hypertension cases in 2024 was recorded at 58.96%, so it has not yet reached the set target. This study aims to determine the review of the implementation of the chronic disease management program (Prolanis) in the working area of Puskesmas Oesapa. The type of research used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection was done through in-depth interviews with 4 informants. The results of this study indicate that 1) input, the quantity of health workers is sufficient. In quality, health workers have competencies equipped with STRs, funds budgeted for prolanis activities are purely from BPJS, medical devices are still lacking, have SOPs on prolanis program services. 2) Process, before carrying out activities, a meeting is held first for planning the prolanis program, the implementation of activities runs according to the SOP, monitoring of recording and reporting is not optimal so that program coverage has not reached the set target. 3) Output, the Prolanis Program is right on target but the program coverage has not yet reached the predetermined indicators. The results of this study suggest that health workers must make home visits and monitor prolanis participants to routinely consume the drugs given and provide an understanding of the importance of maintaining a good and healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

Introduction: Anemia in pregnant women remains a major maternal and child health problem, especially in rural areas. Providing Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) containing iron, folic acid, vitamin C, and zinc is an important intervention, but its implementation is often hampered by uneven distribution and a lack of understanding among pregnant women. Objective: This community service activity aimed to increase pregnant women's understanding of the importance of MMS consumption and ensure its optimal distribution in the Banyudono II Community Health Center area, Boyolali. In addition, data analysis assistance was provided to strengthen health workers' capacity in monitoring supplement distribution. Methods: The activity was carried out using descriptive methods and an observational approach. Data was obtained through documentation of counseling sessions, field observations, and MMS distribution records. Data analysis assistance was provided directly by the service team to community health center staff using a simple quantitative approach (frequency distribution). Results and Discussion: A total of 35.7% of pregnant women had received education and MMS, with the highest distribution found in the first trimester group (70%). The remaining women had not received it due to various reasons such as unsuitable gestational age, self-consumption of iron tablets, and absence from pregnant women's classes. Data assistance helped to identify these obstacles more precisely. Conclusion: This activity contributed to increasing pregnant women's nutritional literacy, strengthening data-driven MMS distribution systems, and bridging collaboration between educational institutions and primary healthcare services.

Abstract

Conflict is an unavoidable aspect of group dynamics, including among Generation Z, who are known for their familiarity with digital technology and their inclination towards communication and dialogue. Conflict has the potential to either strengthen or fracture a group. This article explores how effective conflict management can enhance group cohesion within Gen Z. We identify common causes of conflict, such as differences in opinion, misunderstandings, and heightened sensitivity. Various conflict management strategies are analyzed in depth. These include identification, assessment, and problem-solving (Fisher et al.), or avoidance, escalation, and maintenance strategies (Frost and Wilmot). Other approaches like deciding conflict (through domination, compromise, or integral problem-solving), stimulating conflict, reducing conflict, avoiding conflict, and accommodation are also presented as flexible frameworks. Given Gen Z's comfort with multi-personal interactions and discussions, strategies promoting consensus-building, constructive confrontation, and the achievement of shared goals will be highly effective. With proper management, conflict can be transformed into positive energy, fostering sustainable shared experiences, nurturing group bonds and pride, and ultimately significantly strengthening the unity and identity of Generation Z.

Abstract

The Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) data shows an increase in the prevalence of smokers aged 13 to 15 years from 18.3% (2014) to 19.2% (2019). In Demak Regency, according to data from the Demak Regency Health Office, the number of smokers over the past three years has decreased, with a decrease from 45% (2021) to 43% (2022) and then to 42% (2023). Among smokers aged 15-18 years, the rate dropped from 8.77% (2022) to 4.06% (2023). This study aims to explore the influence of cigarette advertising, peer influence, and parental influence on adolescents who experiment with smoking at SMP Negeri 1 Demak. This study used a cross-sectional method with a sample of male adolescents at SMP Negeri 1 Demak. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate tests to examine the relationships between variables. The results showed that cigarette advertising played a role in adolescent smoking behavior with a p value of 0.001. Peers have no role in adolescent smoking behavior with a p value of 0.103, and the role of parents has a role in adolescent smoking behavior (p value 0.001). This study reveals that the role of cigarette advertising and parents play a role in adolescent smoking behavior while the role of peers has no effect on adolescent smoking behavior.
