Abstract

This study explores the phenomenon of begging with a particular focus on Shariah Requirements Versus Contemporary Economics Realities: Influx of Muslim Beggars in Sabon-Zongo Accra. Overall, the study contributes towards filling the enormous gap in the literature on begging in Muslim communities in Ghana and adds other dimensions to the phenomenon of both child and adult begging in general demonstrating the complexity and different facades of the phenomenon. The methodology employed was qualitative, whilst structured interview as a method was used in gathering the necessary information needed for this article. In discussing the findings, the article analyses how this practice works and seeks to gain insight into the interrelationships of the children with their adult partners both at the family levels and at the street level as well as the implications of these interrelationships on the level of agency and vulnerability of the children involved. More importantly, the article highlights the experiences and voices of beggars by looking at the economic realities and the role Islam plays alleviating the plights of beggars. It also highlights the processes that lead to the manifestation of the phenomenon as we see it; that is, why are children used as partners and not adults, and how that is influenced and shaped by power relations and the society’s understanding of what is right and wrong for the child.

Abstract

This research originates from statutory regulation number 24 of 2004 regarding the Deposit Insurance Corporation. The existence of these statutory regulations provides a sense of certainty for every customer in carrying out financing and savings activities at Islamic financial institutions. However, not all Islamic financial institutions are registered as members of deposit insurance institutions. One of them is an Islamic financial institution, Baitul Maal Wal Tamwil (BMT). Whereas in the Baitul Maal Wal Tamwil (BMT) there is customers' money that must be ensured for their savings deposits. Baitul Maal Wal Tamwil (BMT) Assyafi'yah, for example, in his financial reports from 2019 to 2021 has a large amount, in 2019 with a total deposit of Rp. 14,790,416,786, in 2020 with a total deposit of Rp.15,494,878,688, and in 2021 with a total deposit of Rp. 15,900,496,978. From the data above, it can be seen that in Baitul Maal Wal Tamwil (BMT) Assyafi'yah itself, the number of customer deposits increases every year but are still not registered as a deposit insurance institution. This research is a type of library research with the nature of descriptive qualitative research with a normative juridical approach. Research with the type of research library research is research with primary data sources and secondary data using a book, journal, or other scientific works related to this research and Law No. 24 of 2004 concerning Deposit Insurance Corporation. In the concluding part, the researcher will describe in narrative form why Baitul Maal Wal Tamwil (BMT) has not been registered as a participant in a deposit insurance institution.

The tourism sector is one of the sectors that has an important role in the Indonesian economy. Abstract

This article analyzes the artist's religiosity on social media. The symbols of obedience to religion are often displayed by artists in various activities broadcasted on social media both when playing as an actor in a social media show or in their actual life that is covered on social media. The piety is shown by dressing sharia clothes, performing umrah, sponsorsing orphans program, follow Islamic sermon and others. The artist's religious expression holds the meaning, whether the motive is actually behind what is seen on social media, whether purely as part of religious obidience, or there is a religious commodification and media capitalism deliberately displayed to generate greater public viewer which subsequently increase revenue for media corporation. this study will use a phenomenological approach to understand the true meaning behind reality seen on social media. While the dramaturgy theory is used to analyze the religiousity of the artist on social media. Dramaturgy theory by Erving Goffman there is the concept of front stage and back stage. Front stage to explain the artist's visible visibility on social media, while back stage to explain the true artist's life (behind the scenes), so it can be mapped the artist's religiosity -as a religious obedience-, as part of the religious commodification or media capitalism.

Abstract

Exclusive, intolerant, and radical da'wah content on various social media platforms is a challenge for Islamic da'wah in today's digital era. This qualitative study through a normative-philosophical approach aims to identify and explore the dimensions of multicultural Islamic education values in the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council of East Java Province Number. 06 of 2022 concerning Da'wah Ethics in the Digital Era. The theory of multicultural Islamic education conceptualized by Azyumardi Azra becomes the theory of analysis of the subject matter of this study. Data analysis through reduction, presentation, and verification. This study shows the content of multicultural Islamic education values in legal provisions related to da'wah ethics in the dital room in the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council of East Java Province, including the value of humanism education in the prohibition of the delivery of da'wah content that spreads hatred and insults even for the reason of amar makruf nahi munkar. Then, the value of tasamuh education in the recommendation of delivering pluralist da'wah content, which is able to respect Islamic beliefs that are still being debated. Furthermore, the value of peace education in advocating the delivery of nationalist da'wah content. Next, the value of wasatiyah education in recommending the delivery of da'wah content that maintains public conduciveness and stability. The theoretical implications of this study affirm that the mainstreaming of multicultural Islamic educational values can be internalized through religious social fatwas in Indonesia, as well as fatwas related to da'wah ethics in the digital space.

Abstract

The education of Muslim youths in a Muslim community is facing significant challenges that hinder the academic and socio-economic progress of the youths despite the government's efforts to improve access to education. Muslim youths in various Muslim communities continue to experience low enrolment, high dropout rates, and poor academic performance. Lack of access to quality education is a major issue for Muslim youths which is serving as the basis for this article. The article used a mixed-methods approach and qualitative data collection methods to gather information from key stakeholders, including Muslim youths, parents, teachers, community leaders, and education experts. Findings from the research revealed that Muslim youths are capable of acquiring knowledge to the extent of becoming teachers and obtaining higher positions in society. Nevertheless, the community has done very little to ensure the effective participation of their children and Muslim youths in the acquisition of knowledge. Analysis revealed that the current situation of education is susceptible to breakdown, due to a plethora of challenges, and many inhabitants have renounced education as fruitless. Community-based interventions, Policymakers formulating policies and programs that prioritize education for marginalized groups, and innovative educational models, such as e-learning and mobile learning can help to improve access to quality education for Muslim youths. These recommendations can be used to curb the situation and put it on track, as well as create awareness of the need for the acquisition of secular education, especially among Muslim youths

Confirmatory factor analysis was employed to analyze data from a sample of 139 Muslims residing in the Penginyongan cultural area, which encompasses the regencies of Banjarnegara, Purbalingga, Banyumas, Cilacap, and Kebumen. The results show that spiritual, cognitive, and affective factors significantly influence trust in the halal logo on food and beverage products. Affective aspects have demonstrated the highest loading factor value, suggesting that affective approach must be prioritized in building trust in halal logo. This can be achieved by creating emotional branding and excellent service as the key to long-term consumer commitment to the halal logo. This study has broadened the understanding of trust in the halal logo in a particular culture and expanded the concept of trust by including the spiritual dimension as an important factor in enhancing trust.
