Abstract

HIV/AIDS remains a significant global health issue, particularly affecting adolescents who are vulnerable to risky behaviours due to limited accurate knowledge. This study aimed to analyse the differences in adolescents’ knowledge about HIV/AIDS before and after a health education intervention at SMAN xx West Jakarta in 2025. A quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test–post-test approach was employed. The study was conducted from February to March 2025, involving 100 students selected through non-random sampling. Data were collected using a digital questionnaire via Google Forms, covering topics on diagnosis, symptoms, transmission, and prevention of HIV/AIDS. Data analysis was performed using univariate (frequency and percentage) and bivariate analysis with a paired t-test. The results showed that prior to the intervention, most respondents had a moderate level of knowledge, but misconceptions persisted, particularly regarding modes of transmission and prevention. After the health education session, the mean knowledge score increased significantly (p < 0.05), indicating the effectiveness of the intervention in enhancing students’ understanding. Age, gender, and parental education were found to influence the level of knowledge. These findings highlight the importance of regular HIV/AIDS education programs in schools to strengthen adolescents’ health literacy, reduce stigma toward people living with HIV/AIDS, and prevent risky behaviours.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between biomechanical and physiological variables on sprint performance in short-distance runners. A total of 20 male athletes aged 18–21 years were the subjects. Biomechanical data were obtained through video analysis of sprint movements, including stride length, stride frequency, joint angles, and foot contact time. While physiological aspects were measured through vertical jump tests and Running-Based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST). Sprint times at distances of 30 and 60 meters were used as performance indicators. The results showed a significant correlation between stride length, foot contact time, cold muscle strength, and anaerobic capacity with sprint time (p <0.05). A negative correlation was found in stride length and muscle strength, while foot contact time showed a positive correlation. These findings confirm that sprint efficiency is greatly influenced by a combination of good biomechanical techniques and optimal physiological capacity. The conclusion of this study is that the development of an effective sprint training program must include an integrated approach between movement technique training and physical condition, to optimize running performance to the maximum.

Abstract

Health Operational Assistance (HOA) is a program aimed at funding promotive and preventive activities of national priority health programs. The absorption of the HOA budget for the 2021-2024 fiscal years was 24.21%, 69.43%, 80.81%, and 85.7%, respectively. This absorption isn’t yet considered good, with a percentage of <90% and impacting the reduction in the proposed allocation for the following fiscal year. This study used descriptive research. The respondents were the Head of the Public Health Division, the Head of the Planning and Finance Subdivision, and Public Health staff. Primary data for this study were obtained through interviews, while secondary data included the HOA Realization Report, the Decree of the Head of the Health Office concerning the HOA Management Team, and the Technical Guidelines for the Use of HOA Funds for 2021-2024. Data analysis used descriptive analysis. The results showed that the planning process used a bottom-up proposal method. The Health Office used the Decree of the Head of the Health Office concerning the Health Office's HOA Management Team in 2023. Implementation obstacles included the late determination of the Budget Implementation Document (BID) in March, which delayed activity implementation. Supervision was carried out by the Health Office, the Supreme Audit Agency (SAA), and the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (RFAM), as well as reviews by the Ministry of Health's Inspectorate General. This research suggests that the Health Office can further optimize program implementation, particularly for activities with low budget absorption, by improving cross-sectoral coordination and building harmonization with the legislature.

Abstract

NS1 gene of Dengue Virus Serotype 2 (DENV-2) plays a significant role in the pathogenesis and clinical severity of dengue infections, including Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. Mutations in the NS1 gene of DENV-2 are closely associated with the clinical severity of dengue. Methods: This review article employs a systematic review methodology, utilizing Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science from 2015 to 2025. Results: The T164S mutation was consistently associated with increased severity through elevated secreted NS1 (sNS1) production, complement activation, and inflammation. Conversely, the S103T mutation appeared in milder cases. NS1 mutations also correlated with immune hyperactivation, vascular leakage, and, in some cases, neurological symptoms such as encephalitis. Despite these findings, direct causality between specific mutations and clinical outcomes requires further investigation. Conclusion: Mutations in the NS1 gene of DENV-2 affect the stability, secretion, and immunogenic properties of the NS1 protein, leading to increased vascular leakage and severe disease outcomes
