Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many health workers working in hospitals experienced psychological problems and stress while serving patients because of their high risk of contracting COVID-19. This study explores the main findings from the literature examining the psychological impact of COVID-19 on healthcare workers. This study uses a systematic review method using the PRISMA statement. A systematic search was carried out to obtain relevant articles from three databases, namely Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar, published in the English version. The investigation of articles started from identifying, sorting, checking the feasibility and eligibility of the studies and including qualitative synthesis. This article's inclusion criteria were English-language articles and full text on studies assessing the psychological impact of COVID-19 on healthcare workers. There were 1429 articles found and eleven studies of which were analyzed, namely ten studies using a cross-sectional design, one study using a retrospective cohort design. The psychological impact experienced by health workers included fear of being infected with COVID-19; fear of contracting oneself, friends, and relatives; fear of being alienated by others; fear of being stigmatized by others; worrying about personal and family health; worrying about being quarantined or isolated; fear of close contact with patients at high risk of infection; fear of experiencing high insomnia; fear of experiencing acute stress disorders and psychological stress. The study concluded that health workers serving patients in hospitals face tasks full of pressure, worry, anxiety, and high fear of being infected with COVID-19. Health workers are in dire need of health protection as well as special recovery programs that aim to improve psychological well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Abstrak: Selama masa pandemi COVID-19, banyak tenaga kesehatan yang bekerja di rumah sakit mengalami gangguan psikologis dan stres saat melayani pasien karena besar risiko mereka terinfeksi COVID-19. Abstract

Background: Pesticides can poison users if they do not follow pesticide use standards. This is because the active substances in these pesticide products can cause acute pain. Objective: The study aimed to identify the factors of safe behavior in using pesticides in farmers. Methods: This study employed a scoping review method. The literature search was carried out on the indexed databases of Google Scholar, Science Direct, Scopus, PubMed, Free Medical Journals, and ProQuest in English. There were 450 research articles, and 15 met the inclusion criteria. From the 15 journals, information was collected from the publication year 2015-2021, article titles, design, population, interventions, and results. Relevant study articles related to the topics were qualitatively analyzed using NVIVO-12 Plus. Results: The analysis showed that knowledge, safe behavior of using pesticides, farmers' education, and personal protective equipment are the dominant factors influencing the safe behavior of using pesticides on farmers. Conclusion: Farmers who do not comply with safe behavior will have a higher health risk because of the toxicity of pesticides that can be directly inhaled and enter through the pores of the farmers’ skin.

Abstract

Background: Controlling hypertension through pharmacological treatment is effective but can potentially lead to long-term side effects. Thus, more patients with hypertension have turned to herbal plants for treatment. The objective of this study was to examine the effectiveness of soursop leaf tea in reducing blood pressure in patients with hypertension. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental approach with a non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design, involving 30 participants in the intervention group and 30 participants in the control group. Data was analyzed using the Wilcoxon test to assess the disparity in mean blood pressure levels before and after consumption of soursop leaf tea. The Mann-Whitney test was used to examine the distinction in mean blood pressure between the intervention group and the control group. Results: In the intervention and control groups, most respondents were aged 56–65 years (60% and 66.7%), male (70% and 56.7%) and had suffered from hypertension for more than 5 years (70% and 56.7%). There was a significant difference in systolic blood pressure (p<0.001) and diastolic blood pressure (p<0.001) before and after the administration of soursop leaf tea. The mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure in the intervention group decreased significantly compared to the control group (p<0.001).Conclusions: Consumption of soursop leaf tea can reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure, suggesting that this local herb has a potential effect on individuals diagnosed with hypertension.

Abstract

The city of Medan is the capital of the province of North Sumatra, Indonesia, and is the third largest city in the country after Jakarta and Surabaya, as well as the largest outside Java. Medan faces serious problems related to traffic accidents. This study used a questionnaire to explore the relationship between age and sleep quality and the incidence of accidents in online motorcycle taxi drivers. This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional design, involving a sample of active online motorcycle taxi drivers from Gojek and Grab partners. Sleep quality was measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Driver behavior is measured using the Motorcycle Rider Behavior Questionnaire (MBRQ). To increase the accuracy of the analysis of accident factors, researchers also checked the blood pressure of online motorcycle taxi drivers at 08.00 WIB. The results showed that 24 people (66.7%) aged ≥ 35 years were at risk of having an accident, while 24 people (66.7%) experienced problems with drowsiness when driving, 29 people (80.6%) with unsafe behavior when driving so they were at risk. had a traffic accident and 13 drivers showed abnormal blood pressure. To reduce this risk, it is recommended that drivers slow down vehicle speed, get enough sleep, reduce coffee consumption, and obey traffic signs.

Abstract

Consumption of foods with a high glycaemic index (GI) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) can negatively impact their glycaemic control. High-GI foods typically induce a rapid increase in blood glucose levels. This research aimed to identify the impact of high glycaemic index food consumption in individuals with T2DM. A narrative review methodology was employed. The inclusion criteria for this study were articles published in indexed journal databases (Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Scopus Journal, PubMed, ProQuest) written in English, with cross-sectional and experimental designs. Nine articles published between 2008 and 2025 met the inclusion criteria. The findings of this review underscore the importance of understanding glycaemic index food consumption in patients with T2DM. Integrating low-GI foods into the diet of individuals with T2DM may represent a practical strategy for improving metabolic control and reducing the risk of hyperglycaemia. Improved glycaemic control, such as that achieved by consuming a very-low-carbohydrate, high-fat breakfast, substantially reduces postprandial (after-meal) glucose excursions, particularly in the morning, a period when individuals with type 2 diabetes frequently experience the highest blood glucose spikes. In conclusion, improved glycaemic control, such as that achieved by consuming a very-low-carbohydrate, high-fat breakfast, substantially reduces postprandial (after-meal) glucose excursions, particularly in the morning, a period when individuals with type 2 diabetes frequently experience the highest blood glucose spikes.
