Abstract

This study investigates the destination image of Eka Karya Botanical Garden Bali by analyzing tourists’ perceptions through cognitive, affective, and conative dimensions. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected from domestic and international visitors using in-depth interviews, participant observations, and documentation of both official sources and online reviews. The findings reveal that, in the cognitive dimension, tourists highly value the uniqueness of the tropical plant collections, the cool mountain climate, and the educational facilities, although shortcomings in infrastructure and supporting facilities such as shuttle buses, signage, and toilets were noted. In the affective dimension, the majority of tourists associated the garden with positive feelings of peace, refreshment, and relaxation, while external factors such as overcrowding and unfavorable weather occasionally disrupted the experience. In the conative dimension, domestic tourists expressed a high intention to revisit, particularly for family recreation and educational purposes, whereas international tourists tended to regard one visit as sufficient. However, their strong willingness to recommend the destination through word-of-mouth and online platforms indicates significant indirect promotional value. Overall, this research highlights that the destination image of Eka Karya Botanical Garden Bali is shaped not only by its cognitive attributes but also by its emotional appeal and its ability to stimulate behavioral responses. These findings provide both theoretical contributions to destination image studies and practical insights for destination managers in enhancing the competitiveness of nature-based and educational tourism destinations in Indonesia.

Abstract

Glamping (glamorous camping) has emerged as a contemporary form of accommodation that combines the essence of outdoor camping with the comfort of modern facilities, offering tourists a distinctive experience of being close to nature without sacrificing luxury. In Indonesia, particularly in Kintamani, Bali, glamping has grown rapidly in line with increasing interest in nature-based tourism and unique travel experiences. Despite its popularity, studies that specifically address tourist motivation in the glamping context remain limited. This research aims to explore the motivations that drive tourists to choose the glamping experience in Kintamani through a qualitative approach. Data were collected using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation with tourists who had experienced glamping in Kintamani. Thematic analysis revealed two main categories of motivation: intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic motivations include the desire to gain positive feelings, escape from daily routines, seek novelty, strengthen social relationships, and enhance social status. Extrinsic motivations are shaped by external factors such as natural beauty, promotional offers, invitations from friends or family, social media needs, and lifestyle trends. The findings highlight that glamping in Kintamani is not only perceived as an alternative form of accommodation but also as a lifestyle-driven tourism experience that blends personal well-being, social expression, and natural immersion. These insights contribute to a deeper understanding of tourist behavior in experiential tourism and provide implications for glamping providers and destination managers to design more relevant and sustainable tourism strategies.

Abstract

The Tourism Information Center plays a very important role and serves as a supporting facility in promoting the tourist attractions and destinations of a particular region. With the existence of a Tourism Information Center in an area, tourists will not have difficulty and can easily obtain information related to tourism in that region. It has a very significant role in introducing tourist attractions to visitors; therefore, it requires excellent and professional service to ensure that tourists are not disappointed when seeking tourism information. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of the Tourism Information Center in providing tourism information services in Ternate City. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach, which involves key efforts such as posing questions and procedures, collecting specific data from participants, analyzing the data inductively from specific themes to general themes, and interpreting the data. The results of the study show that the role of the Tourism Information Center in Ternate City has not been carried out optimally due to limited budgets and a lack of human resources with competence in the field, which has caused the Tourism Information Center in Ternate City to often not operate during working hours.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technology has transformed the way people conduct economic transactions, including in the tourism sector. The convenience of using digital wallets such as GoPay has influenced tourists’ consumption patterns, making transactions faster and more practical. This study aims to analyze the effect of GoPay usage on the consumptive behavior of tourists in Cirebon. The research applied a quantitative approach using a survey method on tourists who used GoPay during their visits. The research instruments were tested for validity and reliability, and data were analyzed through simple linear regression. The results revealed that GoPay usage has a positive and significant influence on tourists’ consumptive behavior. Higher usage intensity of GoPay tends to increase impulsive buying and excessive spending among tourists. These findings indicate that the ease of use and promotional offers provided by GoPay play an important role in shaping tourists’ consumption behavior in the digital era. The study concludes that improving digital financial literacy among tourists is crucial to ensure responsible and balanced use of e-wallets. It is also recommended that digital payment providers and tourism stakeholders collaborate to develop a payment ecosystem that promotes both efficiency and sustainable consumer behavior.

Abstract

paragraph Cultural tourism is increasingly in demand by tourists looking for authentic and transformative experiences. One of the traditions that has great potential is the Seba Baduy ritual, which is an annual procession of the Baduy people that contains spiritual, social, and ecological values. This research aims to interpret the symbolism in the Seba Baduy ritual and analyze how the culture is translated and perceived by tourists. This study uses a qualitative descriptive design, data collection is carried out by means of observation, interviews, documentation and observational literature studies, in-depth interviews, and literature analysis. The results of the study show that attributes in rituals, such as traditional clothing, travel procedures, and offering processions, are seen as representations of harmony between humans, nature, and ancestors. Tourists interpret this ritual as an authentic cultural experience, which not only offers tourist attractions but also provides a new understanding of local wisdom. In conclusion, Seba Baduy can play a role as a model for the development of cultural tourism that not only provides economic benefits, but also maintains the preservation of customary values. The implication of this research is the importance of collaboration between local communities, governments, and tourism actors to create sustainable promotion and management strategies.

Abstract

Ranamese Lake in East Manggarai Regency has a high potential as a birdwatching destination due to its rich endemic avifauna and scenic natural landscape. However, this potential has not been optimally managed, particularly in terms of interpretation, facilities, and institutional management. This study aims to analyze the potential of Ranamese Lake as a special interest tourism destination using the 4A approach (Attraction, Accessibility, Amenities, Ancillary). The research employed a combination of primary and secondary data, including non-participatory field observations, in-depth interviews with managers, local government, and community members, as well as documentation from the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA). The results indicate that the site’s attraction is very high, with the presence of endemic bird species such as Otus alfredi, Corvus florensis, and Pachycephala nudigula, although interpretation and tourism packaging remain suboptimal. Accessibility is relatively good, but trekking paths require improvements to ensure visitor safety and comfort. Existing facilities (amenities) are limited to basic and recreational infrastructure, making the development of low-impact bird hides, interpretive boards, and educational trails essential. Regarding institutional support (ancillary), strengthening the capacity of specialist guides and establishing clear collaboration between BKSDA, local government, and the community are key to sustainable destination management. Overall, Ranamese Lake has significant potential to be developed into a conservation-based special interest tourism destination by integrating ecosystem preservation, education, and high-quality visitor experiences.

Abstract

The Semarapura Festival is an annual cultural event organized by the Klungkung Regency Government through the Department of Tourism. The 7th Semarapura Festival in 2025 is held with the aim of strengthening local cultural identity while developing the community’s creative economy sector. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the 2025 Semarapura Festival as a cultural and creative economy event. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the Semarapura Festival plays an important role as a medium for cultural preservation through traditional art performances and activities based on local wisdom, as well as serving as a platform for creative economic development for MSME actors in the culinary and craft sectors. In addition, the festival also applies environmentally friendly innovations and digital promotion strategies through social media to expand audience reach. However, challenges such as parking areas, lack of shaded spaces, and waste management still need attention to optimize the festival in the future. Overall, Semarapura Festival in 2025 succeeds in becoming a model cultural event that integrates tradition preservation, creative economy empowerment, and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to design a digital information medium in the form of an e-magazine that serves to document and promote the potential of Saporkren Village in Raja Ampat Regency more broadly and attractively. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The analysis stage was conducted to identify information needs, target audiences, content to be presented, and analysis of similar media. The results indicated that Saporkren Village requires a digital medium capable of systematically showcasing its marine tourism, cultural, culinary, and village profile potentials. The design stage produced an e-magazine structure consisting of a cover, introduction, table of contents, main content, and closing section. During the development stage, the product was evaluated by practitioners experienced in tourism and digital media design, resulting in feasibility percentages of 87.5% (very good category) and 71.4% (good category), respectively. Subsequently, a trial was conducted involving 35 respondents who met the criteria of never having visited Saporkren Village, aged 17–35 years, with a minimum education level of senior high school (or equivalent), and familiar with internet and digital media use. The trial results showed an average percentage score of 95.71%, categorized as very good. Based on the assessments from practitioners and trial participants, the e-magazine was declared feasible to be used as a digital information medium for Saporkren Village. This medium is expected to serve as a reference for local managers in developing digital information content and for the Raja Ampat Tourism Office in creating similar media as part of the digitalization efforts for other tourism villages.

Abstract

The branding “Badung The Soul of Bali” was introduced as a unified tourism identity; however, its implementation reveals contradictory patterns and uneven representation across regions. This study aims to analyze how government-led tourism communication operates through visual, marketing, and managerial dimensions, while identifying perceptual gaps between the ideal image promoted and the actual experiences of tourists. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through in-depth interviews with government actors, tourism industry operators, and domestic and international tourists, supported by digital content observation and source triangulation to strengthen data validity. The findings highlight several striking contradictions. International tourists perceived the official logo as a “general Bali branding” rather than a representation of Badung, indicating weak destination differentiation. Premium hotels also refrained from using the logo, arguing that it does not align with their luxury-oriented visual identity. In marketing communication, official government content performed significantly worse than traveler-generated videos; despite showcasing the same attractions, traveler content achieved much higher engagement due to its authenticity, emotional appeal, and personal storytelling. At the managerial level, the stark disparity between South Badung and North Badung created a destination image gap, where the harmonious identity promoted through branding does not match on-site realities, generating the risk of over-promising. This study recommends developing a dedicated sub-branding for North Badung to authentically represent its distinct landscape and cultural characteristics. Furthermore, the government is advised to provide collaborative incentives for hotels and tourism businesses that adopt the “The Soul of Bali” logo, thereby strengthening stakeholder coordination and ensuring greater alignment between the communicated image and the destination reality.

Abstract

This study aims to integrate the principles of Maqasid al-Shari’ah with the concept of smart agrotourism as a strategic approach to supporting sustainable rural development in the digital era. Through a literature review examining Maqasid theory, smart tourism, digital transformation, and rural development, the study identifies that Maqasid al-Shari’ah serves as an ethical foundation for guiding rural digitalization toward justice and public welfare. Integrating Maqasid al-Shari’ah values into smart agrotourism encourages the creation of efficient, environmentally conscious, and Sharia-compliant agricultural tourism that maintains a balance between economic benefits, cultural preservation, and the spiritual needs of rural communities. The study also highlights major challenges in rural digitalization, including infrastructure gaps, low digital literacy, and socio-cultural risks, indicating that development strategies must be context-based and participatory. This research recommends the development of an Islamic Smart Village Framework as a policy direction that integrates technology, community empowerment, and Islamic values in tourism village governance. For future research, empirical validation of the proposed conceptual model and the formulation of maqasid-based indicators for measuring rural well-being are needed. This study concludes by emphasizing the importance of advancing the paradigm of “Islamic Smart Village for a Sustainable Future” as the foundation for inclusive, ethical, and sustainable rural digital transformation.
