Abstract

Criticism of the Quran has been a part of Quranic studies for some time. One of the figures who criticized the Quran is Richard Bell, an orientalist, who, in his book titled "The Quran Translated, with a critical re-arrangement of the Surah," cast doubts on the authenticity of the Quran. Bell mentions the presence of added verses that are considered not in line with the original text, including in Surah al-Qalam, specifically in verses 10-16. Additionally, he also notes that verses 51-52 appear to lack relevance to the verses before or after them. The purpose of this research is to examine whether the structure of Surah al-Qalam exhibits symmetry in accordance with patterns of parallel, concentric, or mirror-symmetrical arrangements at various levels of the text. The research methodology employs analysis, which is used to process data and address the research questions. This research approach adopts the concept of "Coherence" to find coherence in the structure of surah al-Qalam using the Semitic Rhetorical Analysis methodology. This research is a type of library research, which involves collecting data from various sources such as books, scientific documents, journals, etc. The results of this research show that the application of Semitic Rhetorical Analysis in Surah al-Qalam produces a series consisting of 3 parts and 8 sections of text structure, which form a mirror concentric construction (AB/x/B’A’). The results of the analysis also show that there is a connection between parts, which shows good coherence and verse structure. This finding refutes Richard Bell's view because each verse in Surah al-Qalam is able to be symmetrical with other verses from the lowest to the highest text level

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explain tolerance from Hamka's perspective which the author found in Tafsir Al-Azhar. This paper finds the principles of tolerance in Hamka's Tafsir Al-Azhar. Tafsir Al-Azhar is a commentary on Hamka's work which focuses more on the adâbi ijtimâ'i interpretation style. This can be seen in the explanation in Tafsir Al-Azhar regarding the principles of tolerance, such as: Compassion and good behavior between religious communities (Q.S. al-Fâtihah/1: 1), freedom of religion (Q.S. al-Baqarah/2: 256; al-Kahfi/18: 29), Enable tolerance amidst diversity, (Q.S. al-Hujurât/49: 13, Mutual respect between religious communities, (Q.S. al-Baqarah/2: 62). This research uses an approach literature (library research). The research method used in this scientific work is qualitative research methods. As for the review of the study of the interpretation of the al-Quran, this research is classified as a variety of thematic interpretations or maudhû'î. The conclusion in this research is that tolerance Hamka in Tafsir Al-Azhar promotes the paradigm of tolerance between religious communities, that in social life there are various kinds of differences such as ethnicity, race, language, culture, customs and also religion. In facing these differences, a person must have an attitude of tolerance so that social life remains united and not divided. With an attitude of tolerance, a person can invite peace towards other religions and give freedom to followers of certain religions in choosing a religion according to their respective beliefs without any coercion

Abstract

Among the characteristics of ideal da'wah is da'wah that prioritizes the values ​​of tolerance. The Quran as a guide for Muslims, especially for preachers, explains several values ​​of tolerance. Based on the results of research that the author has conducted, there are several values ​​of tolerance in preaching that originate from the Quran. First, dakwah with wisdom and good advice (QS. an-Nahl/16: 125). Second, dakwah with polite/gentle words. (QS. Taha/ 20: 43-44 and some fragments of verses in QS. an-Nahl/16: 125. Third, dakwah by respecting the beliefs of other believers (QS. al-An’am/6: 108 and QS. al-Kafirun/109: 1-6. Fourth, dakwah with humility (QS. as-Shu'ara '/26: 215). This research is a type of library research, namely research that object of study is library data form books and books of interpretation, as well as several other supporting references. It is hoped that this research will become one of the scientific treasures in the study of the interpretation of the Qur’an, especially the verses about the values ​​of tolerance in da’wah. Apart from that, it is hoped that the results of this research can become a reference source in preaching towards a pluralistic society, especially in the Indonesian context. Da'wah that prioritizes the values ​​of tolerance can eliminate divisions and disputes in social life

Abstract

This paper aims to describe linguistic interpretation (tafsir lughawi) as a tool in understanding the language of the Koran and sources that can be used as references in the interpretation of the Koran. The types of linguistic interpretations obtained are interpretations with the i'rab Al-Quran approach, nahwu, morphology, sharaf, allegory (amtsal), munasabah, qira'ah. Linguistic interpretation can affect the theological, Sufistic, philosophical, and scientific sides. Linguistic interpretation is also not just understanding the verses of the Koran literally, and of course it can touch social and other aspects, so that the meaning of the verses of the Koran can be fully understood. The interpreter's linguistic ability has an important role in interpreting the Qur'an. The consequence of the inclusion of Arabic as the language of the Koran causes variations in understanding in linguistic interpretation. Methods and linguistic analysis cannot be separated from the tendency of the interpreter, and this is a separate place for the reader

Abstract

Humans are faced with various life choices. Choosing, wanting and living these choices is a common thing to do. However, whether human choices, wills and actions are sourced from themselves or are they all determined by the destiny of God, the creator of everything. This phrase will get different answers from some theological groups. Each has strong arguments and refutation of arguments that contradict each other. Of these groups, one of the most phenomenal is the rationalist Mu'tazilah group. Al-Zamakhsyari was one of the great figures of the Mu'tazilah. Tafsir Al-Kasysyaf is the work of al-Zamakhsyari who has contributed greatly to the understandings of the Mu'tazilah, including their understanding of the concept of human action. This area will be discussed in this article. The author takes several crucial verses about the concept of human action, then analyzes al-Zamakhsyari's interpretation of these verses followed by comments or opinions of the interpreters after al-Zamakhsyari's life. Al-Zamakhsyari's efforts in defending his ideology through the interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an become an interesting study that will be discussed in this paper. Al-Zamakhsyari does this by making additions or interpretations that can attract the editor of the verse to agree with his ideology. The response of the commentators on the interpretation of al-Zamakhyari has also become an interesting discussion to study. Some of them refused, some of them allowed it, and some even tended to agree with al-Zamakhsyari's explanation

Abstract

This article describes about hell in various suras in the Qur'an, one of which is Surah Maryam verses 71 and 72. Unlike other verses, this verse states that everyone will come to hell whether he is a disobedient person or a believer. Regarding this verse, there are differences of opinion on the meaning of the word وَارِدُهاَ which means to come to him. Some interpret it with the meaning of entering. While some others interpret it with the meaning of passing. Imam al-Tabari is one of the commentators who provides a fairly detailed interpretation of the verse. The author uses a qualitative method of literature (library research) with the theory of tahlili. The author conducts a search and collects various data related to the variables studied, then analyzes interpretively and descriptively on the data that has been collected. The meaning of the word وَارِدُهاَ in this verse according to al-Tabari is al-Mururu or passing, that is, all believers or unbelievers will pass through hell, namely through sirat that lies above hell. But among them there are those who survived through it and some who fell into hell. Regarding the criteria for those who are saved on the journey through the sirat, Imam al-Tabari stated that they are pious people. As for the criteria for those who are allowed to fall into hell according to al-Tabari, they are those who wrong themselves

Abstract

This study discusses the paradigm of maqashidi interpretation of Friday prayers in the pandemic era. This research is a qualitative type that is taken through a literature study. The implementation of online Friday prayers is invalid. At least, this can be viewed from two aspects; First, aspects of the basic principles and objectives revealed by Islamic law (maqāṣid al-syarī'ah), in which maintaining the din al-Islam related to the subject of worship is manifested in worship models such as faith, shahada, prayer, zakat fasting and hajj, while maintaining sustainability soul and mind are the essence of 'adat (adat) which is manifested by activities such as eating, drinking, clothing and shelter, to maintain the continuity of the human soul and mind. Keeping the prayers in accordance with the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad. become part of hifzu al-din (maintaining religion, so it is not appropriate if anyone tries to change the pattern of Friday prayers whose original law is one whole building. Islamic law has provided rukhsah for every Muslim who is obliged to pray Friday to replace it with the Zuhur prayer as many as four rakaat and there is no need to gather with the crowd when there are things that hinder it; Second, the aspect of Islamic jurisprudence. Friday prayers require congregational prayers and are not valid to be performed individually, where the imam and the makmum must be in one place essentially.

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the meaning of a verse in the Al-Qur'an which is actually a message, bringing memories to reality, namely that although it is integrated into the Arabic linguistic system, the text of the Al-Qur'an has its own characteristics. The Qur'an, a unique text, makes use of a certain lively and dynamic 'linguistic code' to transfer its distinctive 'treatise'. This peculiarity was later recognized by the Arabs, and even made the people who attacked the treatise admire. Starting from the various uniqueness possessed by the Al-Qur'an, and moreover, there arose a challenge from the Qur'an itself to the Arabs to replicate, duplicate, and create something new on a number of texts such as the Qur'an, for example the letter -a letter in short, gave birth to the idea of ​​the absolute 'incommensurability (i'jaz)' of the Qur'an. A study of solving social complexity that can create harmony amidst the variability of society.

Abstract

Maqasidi interpretation discourse as a form of response methodology of interpretation to the current situation faced. Abstract

This paper aims to describe the derivative of the explanation of Surat al-Nur in the form of social ethics in establishing interactions in the community. The method used is descriptive analysis of the pattern of asking for permission in Surat al-Nur. The finding in this paper is that the ethics of asking for permission is a form of respect and protection of one's privacy rights as a servant of Allah, which must be guarded. This social ethic is personal and communal in the midst of advances in knowledge and habits that are distorted by outside civilizations.
