Abstract

Fire and explosion incidents at oil refineries in Indonesia pose serious threats to community safety, environmental sustainability, and economic stability. These risks highlight the need for a comprehensive evaluation of safe distance standards between fuel storage facilities and nearby residential areas. This study aims to assess the safe distance of thermal radiation exposure resulting from a tank fire (pool fire) scenario using the ALOHA (Areal Locations of Hazardous Atmospheres) simulation software, as well as to develop risk mitigation recommendations for surrounding communities. A quantitative, non-experimental approach was employed, utilizing secondary data from PT X and relevant literature. Simulation results indicate that areas within 32 meters of the ISO-6L T-2018 tank are exposed to thermal radiation levels of 6.31 kW/m², a level capable of causing skin burns, with residential settlements located within this zone. Thermal radiation exposure at 6.31 kW/m² may lead to first- to second-degree burns, property damage, long-term health issues, and psychological impacts on residents. Preventive measures and emergency response plans must therefore be developed and implemented to minimize risks and impacts, including community relocation, installation of thermal barriers, safety education, regular radiation monitoring, adoption of control technologies, and enhancement of emergency response infrastructure.

Abstract

Pulo Gebang Terminal, the largest bus terminal in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, continues to face challenges in attracting ridership. Despite its modern infrastructure, passenger levels remain relatively low due to concerns about safety, comfort, and competition from private vehicles. This study aims to identify and propose effective strategies to increase ridership through a mixed-use development approach. Using a quantitative descriptive design combined with qualitative insights, the research employed stakeholder interviews, user surveys, direct observations, and secondary data analysis. The SWOT analysis revealed both internal strengths, such as the integration of health and administrative services, and external opportunities, such as the use of multipurpose spaces, alongside critical weaknesses related to security and service quality. Findings indicate that developing multifunctional facilities, including retail, offices, hotels, entertainment venues, and essential public services, can enhance user comfort, improve service quality, and strengthen the terminal’s integration with its surrounding urban environment. The study contributes to the discourse on sustainable transit-oriented development by demonstrating how mixed-use terminal design can increase ridership while optimizing urban land use. The results provide practical recommendations for policymakers and terminal managers in enhancing Pulo Gebang’s role as a key transportation hub and multifunctional urban center.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (Pondok Pesantren), as religious-based educational institutions, have great potential to address environmental conservation issues. Temanggung is an area with a large santri community that has the potential to drive environmental conservation. However, challenges such as low awareness among santri and limited environmental development facilities are major obstacles. This community service activity aimed to empower students (santri) through essay writing based on the local wisdom of their pesantren. The main goal of the activity was to increase the awareness, writing skills, and active involvement of the students in sustainable environmental conservation. This research involved 20 students from 10 Islamic boarding schools in Temanggung Regency, as well as pesantren administrators, local government officials, community organisations, and a nature lovers' community. The Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) model was used in this study to analyze the potential of the students, develop strategies, and evaluate the results of the community service. The research findings showed that the students were a potential asset for the pesantren in formulating solutions for environmental problems that were based on local wisdom. This essay writing training program produced three main strategies for empowering santri: essay writing training, essay publication, and empowerment through contextual experiences based on environmental conservation. The implementation of these three strategies proved effective in increasing the students' understanding, awareness, and participation. Through the environmental awareness-based essay writing activities, the students were hoped to become the leading pioneers of environmental awareness, especially within the pesantren environment, in a sustainable way.

Abstract

Motor vehicle tax is a key source of regional revenue, yet taxpayer compliance often remains low due to limited knowledge, weak socialization, low awareness, and the varied impact of tax amnesty programs. This study aims to analyze the influence of taxpayer knowledge, motor vehicle tax socialization, taxpayer awareness, and the motor vehicle tax amnesty program on motor vehicle taxpayer compliance at the Samsat Office of Subang Regency in 2024. A quantitative approach and descriptive method were employed, using questionnaires distributed to 104 respondents selected through incidental sampling. The data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, multiple linear regression, t-test, and F-test. The results indicate that taxpayer knowledge, motor vehicle tax socialization, taxpayer awareness, and the motor vehicle tax amnesty program simultaneously have a significant effect on motor vehicle taxpayer compliance. Partially, taxpayer knowledge has a highly significant effect on taxpayer compliance, while motor vehicle tax socialization, taxpayer awareness, and the tax amnesty program do not have a significant effect on motor vehicle taxpayer compliance in the Subang Regency Samsat Office in 2024. This study implies that increasing knowledge about vehicle taxes should be prioritized as an effort to improve compliance and policy in Subang Regency, rather than simply using tax amnesty programs or socialization.

Abstract

Household waste mismanagement remains a pressing issue in many regions, including Darul Imarah, Aceh Besar, Indonesia, leading to environmental degradation, health risks, and inefficient land use. Despite the persistence of poor waste management practices, community-driven entrepreneurial initiatives have emerged as an alternative pathway to strengthen the local economy and foster environmental awareness. This study aims to explore economic empowerment strategies through entrepreneurship to reduce household waste and promote community welfare. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected via semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis involving 50 purposively selected participants, including entrepreneurs, community members, government officials, and environmental experts. Findings reveal that waste-based entrepreneurship has increased household income by 20–30%, generated over 100 jobs within two years, and reduced waste volume entering landfills by up to 35%. Compost production yielded the highest income growth (30%) and waste reduction (40%). Despite these benefits, challenges such as limited access to capital, inadequate infrastructure, and market barriers persist. This study contributes novelty by integrating the concepts of shared value and social business to show how local entrepreneurship can simultaneously drive economic and environmental outcomes. It also incorporates bibliometric mapping to visualize key thematic relationships in the field. In conclusion, a collaborative, policy-supported approach involving the government, private sector, and communities is crucial to sustaining waste-based entrepreneurship as a scalable model for green economic empowerment.

Abstract

Women's empowerment is an important strategy for improving the economic well-being of communities, particularly in rural areas such as Nagari Katapiang, Batang Anai District, Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra Province. One form of empowerment developing in this area is through the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) based on Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) production. This study aims to analyze the contribution of VCO entrepreneurship to women's empowerment and identify challenges and opportunities in developing these businesses. The method used is a qualitative approach with phenomenological techniques, supported by data analysis using NVIVO software. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and literature studies. The results show that women's involvement in VCO production and management contributes to increasing household income, economic independence, and their social role in the community. However, women still face various obstacles, such as limited access to markets, business capital, and production technology. The findings also indicate that synergy between the government, financial institutions, and educational institutions is essential to overcome these obstacles. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that VCO entrepreneurship has the potential to be a sustainable model for women's empowerment, particularly if supported by skills training, technological innovation, and access to markets and capital.

Abstract

In contemporary urban settings, mosques are increasingly expected to fulfill not only religious functions but also to serve as centers for community development and social integration. However, challenges in governance and inclusivity often hinder this potential. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Jumat Berkah (Blessed Friday) program at Darul Falah Mosque, Makassar, as a participatory model for revitalizing the social role of urban mosques. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis to investigate the program's implementation, management practices, and community engagement. The program successfully engaged diverse community groups, including marginalized residents and youth, while reinforcing the mosque’s role as a socially responsive institution. Transparent governance mechanisms, consistent volunteer involvement, and effective use of digital tools were found to be key to the program’s continuity and community trust. The study demonstrates that mosque-based participatory programs can address challenges of urban social fragmentation and disengagement. The novelty of this research lies in its integration of structural functionalism theory with empirical insights from mosque-led community practices, offering a replicable model for faith-based urban social development. This study contributes to both academic and practical domains. Theoretically, it enriches the discourse on mosque-based social institutions within the framework of structural functionalism. Practically, it provides a participatory model for faith-based urban social development that can be replicated by other mosques seeking to strengthen community engagement and resilience.

Abstract

In an increasingly competitive service industry, understanding the determinants of user satisfaction is essential for organizational growth and customer retention. This study aims to examine the effects of service quality and service loyalty on user satisfaction at PT. Adhigana Pratama Mulya Batam. Employing a quantitative ex-post facto design, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 200 respondents, consisting of ship crew members as direct users of the company’s services. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the SPSS application. The results reveal that both service quality (t(197) = 4.419 > 1.984, p < 0.001) and service loyalty (t(197) = 9.957 > 1.984, p < 0.001) have significant positive effects on user satisfaction, while their combined influence is also statistically significant (F(2, 197) = 96.379 > 3.00, p < 0.001). These findings indicate that higher levels of service quality and employee loyalty lead to greater user satisfaction. The study suggests that the company should strengthen employee training, enhance user engagement, and continuously improve global service standards. Future research should incorporate additional factors such as infrastructure, technological facilities, pricing competitiveness, and brand image to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of user satisfaction

Abstract

Village livestock waste presents both an environmental burden and an underutilized resource capable of strengthening rural livelihoods when transformed into marketable organic fertilizer. This study develops a community-based circular agribusiness model that integrates market validation, pricing analysis, and value-chain coordination to improve the commercial feasibility of waste-to-fertilizer initiatives in rural Indonesia. A convergent mixed-methods design was implemented, combining a Price Sensitivity Meter survey with Cost–Volume–Profit and Break-Even Point calculations, supported by a simplified Value Chain Analysis involving farmers, processors, kiosks, and local cooperative actors. Data were collected from 60 small-scale livestock households, 150 fertilizer users, and 12–15 key informants across Arjasa District. Findings indicate an acceptable price range of IDR 40,000–80,000 per 25-kg bag, with an optimal price point near IDR 60,000. At this level, contribution margins remain positive across direct, cooperative, and kiosk channels, with the break-even requirement estimated at 180–230 bags per month. The value-chain assessment reveals constraints related to moisture variability, inconsistent granulometry, and high last-mile distribution costs. Proposed coordination measures include minimum quality standards, scheduled collection and delivery routes, and simple offtake agreements with a 3–5% quality-based incentive. Together, these elements form a replicable empowerment-oriented model that enhances income stability, reduces waste, and supports community-driven resource governance. The study demonstrates that circular agribusiness, when anchored in market evidence and locally manageable coordination mechanisms, can contribute to socio-economic resilience and strengthen community participation in sustainable rural development

Abstract

Developing students’ numeracy literacy skills is essential in the 21st century, as these skills enable learners to interpret quantitative information, solve real-world problems, and make reasoned decisions. However, the mastery of numeracy literacy among elementary students in Indonesia remains uneven across regions. This study aimed to analyze the numeracy literacy skills of elementary school students in Region III Cirebon to identify their strengths and weaknesses across different competency indicators. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving five elementary schools representing the region. Data were collected through numeracy literacy tests and semi-structured interviews. The instrument was developed based on six indicators: communication, representation, reasoning and argumentation, mathematization, problem-solving strategy, and the use of symbolic, formal, and technical operations. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that students’ overall numeracy literacy skills ranged from medium to low levels. Communication skills were relatively strong, while reasoning, argumentation, and problem-solving strategies were moderate. In contrast, mathematization and symbolic operation skills were notably weak. These findings suggest that numeracy learning in elementary schools still emphasizes procedural understanding rather than conceptual and contextual reasoning. The study contributes to educational research by providing empirical evidence of the current state of numeracy literacy in elementary schools and offers implications for curriculum development and teacher training aimed at fostering deeper mathematical understanding and application.
