Abstract

ABSTRACT Inguinal hernia is a problem that is commonly found in surgical cases and can be suffered by all ages. Inguinal hernias are commonly found in men than women, risk factors that can be the etiology of inguinal hernias are increased intra-abdominal and abdominal wall muscle weakness. Overweight and obesity are risk factors that can influence or increase the occurrence of inguinal hernia. However, several studies have a different opinion, that the case of inguinal hernia is fewer in obesity and overweight compared to normal weight. The body mass index factor relation with inguinal hernia is the main focus on this study. This study aims to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index and Inguinal Hernia at the Surgical Clinic of the Sanjiwani Hospital. This study used an observational analytic research method with a cross sectional study design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling method. The samples obtained were then analyzed and statistically tested with Chi-Square. The samples obtained were 135 patients, consisting of 64 (47.4%) diagnosed inguinal hernia and 71 (52.6%) undiagnosed inguinal hernia. To see the significance of the effect of BMI on the incidence of inguinal hernia, a Chi Square test was carried out with a significance value of 0.05. The p value of the chi square test carried out is 0.220. This value is more than 0.05 so it can be concluded that BMI has no impactful effect on the incidence of inguinal hernia.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is the top ten causes of hospitalization in pediatrics. Indonesia is a country with the highest dengue cases in Southeast Asia and Bali is among the top five highest dengue cases in Indonesia. Tabanan Regency is the district with the highest Case Fatality Rate (CFR) in Bali, which is 0.6%. Early and accurate diagnosis can determine the patient's prognosis, but the WHO classification of DHF has not been able to provide a definite value for the degree of DHF based on the results of an examination of platelets, hematocrit, and hemoglobin. The existence of a definite value from the examination of platelets, hematocrit, and hemoglobin for each degree of DHF is expected to determine the prognosis of DHF. This type of research is an analytical research method with cross-sectional study design. The data collection method used secondary data from medical records. The research sample was all DHF pediatric patients aged 0-18 years at BRSU Tabanan who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria obtained using a consecutive sampling technique with a total sample of 84 children. Data analyses are univariate and bivariate. The results of this study showed that there was a significant relationship between platelet levels and the degree of DHF (p = 0.023 and r = 0.248), there was a significant relationship between hematocrit levels and the degree of DHF (p = 0.045 and r = 0.219), and there was no significant relationship between hemoglobin values. with the degree of DHF (p=0.073 and r=0.196).

Abstract

Dermatophytosis is a disease that affects tissues containing horny substances, such as the stratum corneum of the epidermis, hair and nails caused by dermatophyte fungi. Theoretically, it is stated that one of the predisposing factors for dermatophytosis is Diabetes Mellitus (DM). High blood glucose levels in diabetics causes an increase in skin glucose which can interfere with the immune process and supply energy for the fungus to develop, so that it is easy for manifestations of skin disorders to appear, one of which is dermatophytosis. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between dermatophytosis and Type 2 DM at the Sanjiwani Hospital, Gianyar. The method used in this study is analytical observation using a case control approach in the Medical Record section of the Sanjiwani Hospital, Gianyar. The minimum sample of this study amounted to 150 people who were divided into two groups. The case group consisted of 75 people and the control group consisted of 75 people who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Odd Ratio value of this study was 3.63 (95% CI 1.35 - 9.76). The results showed that there was a relationship between dermatophytosis and Type 2 DM. Patients with Type 2 DM had a 3.63 times higher risk of suffering from dematophytosis than people without Type 2 DM (p = 0.008 (p<0.05)).

The data collection method used primary data from interviews with people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Data was analised univariately and using Spearman rank test. The Kolmogorov test using SPSS showed a significance value of <0.05, so the data was abnormally distributed. Bivariate analysis shows that a p-value < 0.05 was obtained, which suggest that a significant relationship is present between depression and the duration suffered from type 2 diabetes mellitus. The correlation coefficient (r) is -0.664 which means that a strong negative relationship is present. Medical personnels are expected to make efforts to treat patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus without forgetting psychological impact of the patient. Treatment must be obtained by patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus holistically.
