Abstract

To prevent the spread of highly contagious coronavirus, the government regulates the health protocol, such as limitation of gathering, close the school and changing the education system from conventional to virtual started level elementary to even college level. As one of the solutions to learn media learning, the use of smartphones is increasingly significant. The longer duration of using a smartphone will cause a condition named Forward Head Posture.Forward head posture is one of the most common types of postural abnormalities. It is caused by the repetitive position while using a smartphone. The mechanism can be explained by the motion of looking down such as when using a smartphone. As a result, it encourages repetitive use of the head and neck muscles. Anatomically, it can be explained that the upper cervical vertebrae are hyperextended and shifted forward. Exposure to constant loads on craniovertebral extension muscle and non-contractile structure cause changes in biomedical motion, with every one inch the increase in distance from the head and neck, it will increase the gravitation tenfold. Increase stress eventually caused musculoskeletal damage or pain.

Abstract

Indonesia, especially in South Sumatra, is a tropical country where people are exposed to sunlight all the time. The sunlight exposure is both chronic and intermittent, which can cause both beneficial and detrimental effects. One of the examples of the detrimental effects are the increased incidence of skin cancer. Meanwhile, the beneficial effect is the formation of vitamin D in the body that stimulates bone formation, increases body resistance, and prevents skin cancer. At this time, there is an increase in the incidence of skin cancer, and many Indonesian people are deficient in Vitamin D. Currently, the people need to get an explanation through health workers at the TkI Health Facilities and Rivai Abdulah Hospital. It is necessary to increase knowledge about sunlight, the benefits of Vitamin D for health, and its effects on the incidence of skin cancer in health workers.

Abstract

Indonesia is currently experiencing the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Coronavirus is currently spreading faster with a higher severity, causing an increase in Covid-19 cases in the UNSRI Medical Faculty. There were 73 students and 13 lecturers and/or educators who were confirmed to have Covid-19 as of July 14, 2021, who had been recorded since early July. The increase in the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in students and lecturers causes the teaching and learning process to be suboptimal. . In addition, the increasing number of Covid-19 in the community while access to hospitalization is reduced, causing many people to need to self-isolate at home, who need a consultation about their health. The need for online health services is currently increasing as well where the Covid-19 number is currently at its peak. Many people need self-isolation at home because hospitals lack treatment facilities. Online health services are needed by people who find it difficult to consult directly with health facilities. The Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University (FK Unsri), especially the lecturers who are also health workers, initiated the formation of the Online Doctor Chat (CDO), as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic situation

Abstract

Medical practitioners sometimes perform inappropriate decisions and procedures. In making decisions, doctors may take a poor thinking called cognitive and representative bias. One matrix approach that can be developed to build learners' clinical reasoning is the domino game method. Domino card games (DCC) are a form of visual learning that can increase student learning motivation. DCC media is carried out in the form of competitive games. However, DCC is part of collaborative and peer learning methods. Collaborative learning is a method in which learners collaborate with each other. This method is considered to increase learning motivation. Collaboration makes them understand their learning process. The process of collaboration makes them internalize knowledge with critical thinking skills. Peer learning is the learning activity of a group of students from a similar social group. Peer learning activities can be in peer tutoring, peer assessment, or game and simulation forms. Peer learning tutoring can improve the quality of learning efficiently.DCC is an alternative instrument that can be developed to improve clinical reasoning skills. Through this training, some lecturers have been able to compile and develop DCC prototypes. Furthermore, they can apply according to their respective fields of knowledge.

Abstract

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for newborns. Breast milk content is composed of water, protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, antibodies, and enzymes. Breast milk also contains white blood cells and substances that make up the baby`s immune system such as immunoglobulins and lysozyme. The composition of breast milk can change depending on the needs and ages of the baby. Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended by many doctors and other healthcare professionals. One of the factors that influence exclusive breastfeeding is the mother`s knowledge about the content of breast milk. Most breastfeeding mothers do not know the nutritional content of breast milk, both macronutrients, and micronutrients. Breast milk is also rich in immune cells, antibodies, and other bioactive ingredients that help protect the baby from infection until the baby has an effective antibody response in the first few months of life. Breast milk is an ideal nutrient for babies. The mixture of vitamins, proteins, and fats in breast milk can provide the nutrients and calories the baby needs to grow. Babies who have been breastfed for 6 months are more likely to reach their ideal weight. Therefore, the government recommends exclusive breastfeeding for infants up to the age of 6 months.

Abstract

Cancer is one of the most common non-communicable and chronic diseases in the world, one of them is breast cancer. Breast cancer is a disorder in the growth of normal breast cells which is characterized by abnormal cells arising from normal cells that can infiltrate lymph tissue and blood vessels. This will have a major impact on patients undergoing chemotherapy and their families, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only physically but also psychologically, economically and in other aspects of life, which certainly affect the coping mechanisms of patients and families. One of the support efforts that can be provided by nurses as educators is the intensification of health education activities through community service activities in the form of counseling and coaching to improve the coping mechanisms of breast cancer patients.

Abstract

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are still being a problem in Indonesia, especially in adolescent. Psychologically, adolescents have a high curiosity but are not accompanied by adequate knowledge of reproductive health, making them at risk for STIs. Educationis one way to overcome this problem. This community empowerment is carried out in the form of online seminars for high school students in Palembang. This activity aims to increase the knowledge of adolescents regarding STIs. The online seminar was preceded by a pre-test. This activity was attended by 341 participants, namely 335 class XII students and 6 teachers. At the end, an evaluation was carried out with a post-test. Statistical analysis found a significant increase in post-education knowledge for both female and male. This community empowerment shows that by providing online seminars on STIs and HIV significantly increased the knowledge of high school adolescents in Palembang.

Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical country that has biodiversity. One of the biodiversity in Indonesia is the availability of many medicinal plants. The Indonesian Ministry of Health has released a formulary of Indonesian medicinal plants in 2017. One of the plants that has medicinal properties is the sungkai plant. Sungkai plants grow in most parts of Indonesia, including South Sumatra. This plant is also often planted in the yard as a shade. Empirically, sungkai leaves have been used as medicine by various tribes in Indonesia. People use boiled water from sungkai leaves or crushed sungkai leaves as herbal medicine. The phytochemical content of sungkai leaves includes alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, steroids, phenols and saponins. The results of various studies show that sungkai leaves have benefits as anti-fever, antimalarial, antibacterial and antioxidant. Sungkai leaves also have the ability to increase endurance, so they can be used to fight infectious diseases including Covid19. Sungkai leaves can be used for herbal medicine either as a preventive or therapeutic agents. Further development for the use of Sungkai plants as medicine needs to be done to assess side effects and therapeutic effects more efficiently.

Abstract

Almost all Anatomic Pathology laboratories have experienced that tissue patient who comes to these laboratories without adequate fixation and causes complicated patient diagnosis. In addition, adequate fixation also makes advanced procedures such as immunohistochemical staining or DNA and RNA extraction difficult because protein, DNA, and RNA become damaged due to inadequate fixation. The fixation procedure should be the responsibility of the clinicians, specifically surgeons and team. If this procedure is not carried out appropriately resulting in damage to the tissue due to the natural process, namely autolysis, which the fixation procedure can prevent. This autolysis will damage the tissue. The laboratory process results are not optimal, complicating the evaluation of patient tissues, resulting in difficulty and delay of diagnosis. If further examination is needed, such as immunohistochemistry and other molecular examinations related to the extraction of DNA or RNA, the examination results will also be not optimal. Moreover, patient therapy becomes delayed or difficult. For this reason, we conducted extension activities for health workers, some of whom may be involved in a team of surgeons. Knowledge of pre-analytic procedures can improve the quality of pre-analytical handling, which will improve the quality of tissue andcytology specimens; hence, a precise and optimal diagnosis can be obtained. This will help the clinicians in determining the patient's therapy. Therefore, morbidity and mortality rates of patients can be reduced.
