Abstract

Universities play an important role in advancing the nation. This role is described in the Tridharma of Higher Education, including: teaching, research, and community service. Each dharma has its own form and goal but is interrelated. Lecturers and students can collaborate in implementing the Tridharma of higher education. The aim of the paper is to examine the implementation of the Tridharma in higher education through collaborative projects. The method uses the design method with data collection, surveys, interviews, and measurements of existing buildings. The next stage is analysis and synthesis to drafting the design concept. The Efrata Baptist Church in Bandung acts as the target community. Design projects are interesting learning tools for students. Students are able to develop their potential and explore lecture material through real cases. Design is also related to research activities. Research provides knowledge for design while design provides insight for future problem solving. The results of collaborative projects between lecturers and students are concrete evidence of community service activities. The output result is a redesign preliminary drawing that will be used in carrying out the renovation of the church building.

Abstract

Child adoption is a practice that has long been known in Indonesian culture, including in the city of Medan. This tradition is carried out for various purposes, such as providing protection for children, meeting the needs of couples who do not have children, or other social and economic reasons. Even though Indonesia has regulated adoption procedures through Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection and other implementing regulations, many adoption practices in the field are not officially recorded. This can have a negative impact on adopted children, such as unclear status. This community service program aims to increase the role of social workers in the child adoption process in Medan City. Using a participatory and collaborative approach, this activity involves seven stages: approach, assessment, plan preparation, plan formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and termination. Assistance is provided to help prospective adoptive parents (COTA) understand and undergo legal procedures. The program results show that social worker assistance increases COTA's understanding and confidence in undergoing the adoption process according to regulations. Even though there are obstacles, such as limited access to information, this program proves the important role of social workers in supporting the success of child adoption. It is estimated that collaboration between social workers, Social Services and related parties can strengthen the implementation of legal adoption and provide optimal benefits for children who need protection.

Abstract

This community service activity is conducted through a religious seminar to strengthen the understanding and implementation of diversity values among young generations. The seminar is designed to respond to the increasing challenges of societal polarisation and intolerance, especially among millennials. Through a series of interactive sessions, participants are invited to explore the concept of multicultural harmony from a religious perspective, emphasizing universal values such as compassion, empathy, and mutual respect. The seminar material covers discussions on the role of religion in promoting peace, strategies to overcome inter-group prejudices and stereotypes, and best practices in building interfaith dialogue. The seminar also addresses the role of technology and social media in facilitating positive interactions between cultures and religions. It is hoped that through this activity, millennials can become active agents of change in building a harmonious and inclusive society while respecting the uniqueness of each cultural identity. Post-seminar evaluations show increased participants' understanding of the importance of togetherness in diversity and a commitment to apply the values of multicultural harmony in daily life.

Abstract

This article discusses the application of a learning style-based learning approach and differentiated learning in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects using the service learning method. This approach is designed as a form of service to increase students' understanding of the subject matter in depth and at the same time as being applicable in everyday life. The main material focus includes the concept of Faith, the principle of a useful life which stresses the importance of avoiding negative behavior such as extravagance, riya', sum'ah, takabur, and hasad, as well as deepening understanding of the role of Insurance, Banks, and Sharia Cooperatives in supporting the economy of the people based on Islamic values. Through this service, students not only understand the material theoretically, but are also invited to integrate spiritual, moral and social values ​​into real practice. The results of the service are proven by the increasing depth of students' understanding of the material, as seen from their ability to explain, apply and instill Islamic values ​​in everyday life. Thus, this method is an innovative solution to optimize learning while instilling useful values ​​in students' daily lives.

Abstract

The main role of education for the younger generation abroad is to promote and preserve the nation's cultural heritage in the context of Malaysian society. The Performance Management Training Activity for Indonesian School Kuala Lumpur (SIKL) Students aims to improve students' ability to create performing arts performances, as a solution to the less than optimal management of performing arts at the school. This PKM activity is expected to be able to bridge the needs of traditional arts in Malaysia as a means of introducing traditional arts to be promoted in Malaysia. The main objectives of this activity include training in performance management, designing performances with participants as a production team, and implementing art performances with students as a production team. The training was conducted through workshop, mentoring, project, and empowerment methods with a micro approach, which emphasized structured tasks and grouping of students for performance preparation. As a result, students were able to form a production team, work together according to their respective tasks and functions, and successfully organize the performance. However, similar activities with more interesting and effective packaging are still needed to improve the ability of SIKL students in the future.

Abstract

Legal counselling is one of the effective methods to increase public legal awareness. Legal counselling through mass media, especially radio, is one of the strategic means to reach a wide audience. The legal education activity on corruption crimes held through Radio Maria Indonesia is part of a community service programme conducted by lecturers of the Law Study Programmes of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) Medan Campus. This activity aims to provide a deep understanding to the public about the definition, form, and impact of corruption, as well as the steps to prevent it. Through a communicative approach and easy-to-understand language, this programme is expected to build collective awareness and encourage active participation of the community in supporting corruption eradication efforts. This study analyses the effectiveness of legal education through radio in shaping critical attitudes and more proactive public behaviour towards corruption issues. The results show that radio can be an efficient legal education tool, especially in areas with limited access to formal education or digital technology.

Abstract

Income Tax 21 (PPh 21) is a tax obligation that must be well understood by teachers and administrative staff at schools. However, many teachers at SMPN 15 in Central Bengkulu Regency have not fully understood the procedures for calculating and reporting PPh 21, which could lead to administrative tax errors. Therefore, this community service activity aims to enhance the understanding and awareness of tax obligations among teachers and school staff through socialization and technical assistance regarding PPh 21. The methods used in this activity include observation, distribution of questionnaires, and technical assistance to ensure participants' understanding of how to calculate and report taxes. Evaluation was carried out using pre-tests and post-tests to measure the improvement in participants' knowledge of PPh 21. The results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding after attending this activity. This activity is expected to serve as a model for other schools in educating their teaching staff and administrative personnel about tax obligations.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to provide online game-based learning training to improve English vocabulary mastery for grade IX students of SMP Muhammadiyah in Jambi City. This online game training uses the Learning by Doing approach initiated by John Dewey. In the training attended by 19 students, they participated in learning provided by the PKM team which is a collaboration between lecturers from the University of Jambi (UNJA) and Muhammadiyah University (UM) in Jambi City. The training began with a presentation of material by the PKM team, namely by introducing various online games to students such as mobile legends, among us and so on and ended with a quiz with prizes. During the training process, the students looked active and enthusiastic using the gadgets provided by the PKM team. The game played was the mobile legend game considering that there were many words that they could learn and could be directly practiced in everyday English use, both spoken and written. Thus, through this PKM training activity, it is hoped that students will not only use online games as a game medium but more than that, namely as a medium for learning English, especially vocabulary.
