Abstract

This study is an evaluation of the implementation of the Dalkarhutla Program to be an input in planning, strategy innovation, policy making and implementation of future activities in the UPT KPHP Kotawaringin Barat management area. This study was conducted using quantitative methods using descriptive analysis by collecting secondary data on the achievements of the UPT KPHP Kotawaringin Barat Dalkarhutla Program in 2023, namely Dalkarhutla Patrol and Fire Extinguishing. The results of the study showed that the intensity of Dalkarhutla Patrols was carried out in six sub-districts in the UPT KPHP Kotawaringin Barat management area and the highest intensity of Dalkarhutla Patrols was in Arut Selatan District (32%), Kumai District (29%) and Kotawaringin Lama District (18%). There are four findings of the Dalkarhutla Patrol, namely locations prone to burning, not found locations prone to burning, locations of burn marks and water sources. Meanwhile, Fire and Fire Extinguishing focused on Kumai District with 18 blackouts and Arut Selatan District with 6 blackouts. West Kotawaringin District hotspot data is dominated by Arut Selatan District (772 hotspots) and Kumai District (6,714 hotspots). These results show that Dalkarhutla Patrols in the UPT KPHP Kotawaringin Barat Management Area need to continue, preparedness in carrying out forest and land fire suppression, especially in Kumai District and  Arut Selatan District, and strategy innovation is needed in an effort to prevent forest and land fire incidents in the West Kotawaringin KPHP UPT management area.

Abstract

The failure of forest and land rehabilitation activities has often been attributed to fires; however, this is not always the case. It may also be due to the recommended plant species being unsuitable for the habitat or lacking a scientific basis. To ensure the success of forest and land rehabilitation activities and achieve their goals, the paradigm must shift. Specifically, the selection or recommendation of plant species should align with the characteristics of the land and involve local communities, as such initiatives often fail without their participation. For this reason, an agroforestry system—rehabilitating forest areas by planting forestry and agricultural crops with local farmers—needs to be implemented. This study aims to analyze the land suitability classes for Candlenut (Aleurites moluccana WILLD) and Corn (Zea mays) as agroforestry crops in the Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) of Lambung Mangkurat University. The significance of this research lies in providing solutions to prevent forest and land fires while addressing critical land issues in KHDTK ULM. In principle, land suitability classification is conducted by integrating the plant's growth requirements with the land's characteristics. Hence, this classification is often referred to as the "matching method." The research results indicate that, for candlenut plants, all observed land units fall into the "moderately suitable" actual land suitability class, limited by base saturation factors (S2nr), except for UL3, which falls under the "marginally suitable" class, also limited by base saturation (S3nr). In contrast, UL4 is classified as "highly suitable" (S1). If improvements are made, all observed land units could potentially be classified as "highly suitable" (S1), except for UL3, which would remain "moderately suitable" due to base saturation limitations (S2nr). For corn plants, land units UL1, UL2, and UL6 are classified as "moderately suitable," limited by temperature and base saturation factors (S2tc,nr). UL3 falls under the "marginally suitable" class, limited by temperature and base saturation (S3tc,nr), while UL5 is classified as "marginally suitable," limited by texture (S3rc). UL4, meanwhile, is "moderately suitable" with a temperature limitation (S2tc). With improvements, the potential land suitability for UL1, UL2, and UL4 would be "moderately suitable," limited by temperature (S2tc), while UL3 and UL5 would remain in the "marginally suitable" category, limited by texture (S3rc).

Abstract

Centralized forest management in Indonesia has ultimately resulted in failure in maintaining the sustainability of forest functions (experiencing deforestation) and the balance of the ecosystem within it. It is necessary to formulate policies regarding forest governance and forest management plans and appropriate forest utilization. The research was carried out at the Sengayam Protected Forest Management Unit (KPHL). Based on the determination of the work areas for Community Forests and Village Forests in the Sengayam Protected Forest Management Unit, namely KTH Tampuk Cipta Sejahtera and KTH Batuah in Batuah Village, West Pamukan District, Kotabaru Regency. This research was conducted from March 31 2023 to June 31 2023. The method used in this research was purposive sampling, calculated using questionnaire results, recommended from field interviews, spatial analysis and SWOT analysis. The results of the research are that utilizing the availability of large enough land as a strategic location for the management of the Social Forestry Program in KPHL Sengayam, land use and protection efforts for sengon, areca nut and cocoa plants as well as vegetable and fruit plants will improve the local regional economy as well as NTFPs for kelulut honey, opening access to information for marketing the production of each KTH by utilizing community and government support to disseminate information and access, there needs to be more empowerment for communities around the forest and more involvement in their role so that instant thinking patterns can be changed from looking for land for settlement to more on forest conservation, increasing farmers' interest in managing Hkm and HD by explaining the benefits they can gain from managing Hkm and Village Forests through the Social Forestry Program at KPHL Sengayam.

Abstract

This research uses qualitative analysis methods, research procedures which produce descriptive data in the form of written and spoken words from people and observed behavior. The method used is a survey method where data is obtained by interviewing or filling in a list of questions, direct observation (observation) and literature study. The research results show that community participation can be seen in the form of incentive, interactive and initiative participation at OWA Lintui Beach.

Abstract

Shrimp aquaculture has rapidly expanded along Indonesia’s northern Java coast, raising concerns about its ecological implications, particularly in traditional shrimp farming. This rapid assessment evaluates the environmental and biodiversity impacts of traditional shrimp farming in Brebes, Central Java, focusing on current ecosystem conditions and future implications through scenario-based analysis. This study conducted a rapid ecological assessment to evaluate the environmental and biodiversity impacts of long-established traditional shrimp ponds. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, combining ecological field surveys, spatial analysis, interviews, and scenario-based comparisons of “with farm” and “no farm” conditions. The assessment recorded 54 plant species and 50 fauna species, including 10 nationally protected fauna and the Vulnerable smooth-coated otter (Lutrogale perspicillata), which faces increasing conflict with farmers. Spatial analysis confirmed that shrimp ponds are located outside protected areas and critical habitats and were not constructed on converted mangrove or natural wetlands ecosystem. Scenario modelling comparing "with farm" and "no farm" conditions highlights trade-offs between aquaculture expansion and biodiversity maintenance. Although ponds can create new niches for certain bird species, they may limit habitat connectivity for mammals. Community-based mangrove planting and ecological buffers offer promising mitigation pathways. As a rapid ecological assessment, this study provides baseline insights that can inform more detailed, long-term ecological monitoring and management of aquaculture landscapes in Northern Coast of Java.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis struktur, komposisi, dan keanekaragaman makrofauna tanah di tegakan Pericopsis mooniana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa makrofauna tanah terdiri dari 14 spesies yang termasuk dalam enam famili, dengan Insecta sebagai kelompok dominan. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman Shannon–Wiener (H′) sebesar 1,675 menunjukkan tingkat keanekaragaman yang moderat, yang mengindikasikan ekosistem yang relatif stabil dengan kompleksitas komunitas yang terbatas. Struktur komunitas ditandai dengan dominasi kuat semut hitam (Lasius fuliginosus), yang menunjukkan kepadatan relatif tertinggi (56,32%) dan indeks kepentingan (67,86%), yang mengindikasikan signifikansi ekologis Formicidae dalam proses tanah. Kehadiran organisme pengurai utama seperti cacing tanah (Lumbricus rubellus) menunjukkan bahwa fungsi biologis tanah yang penting, termasuk dekomposisi dan agregasi tanah, masih berfungsi dengan baik. Variasi komposisi makrofauna dipengaruhi oleh faktor lingkungan seperti ketersediaan serasah, kondisi tanah, kelembaban, dan gangguan antropogenik minimal. Secara keseluruhan, komunitas makrofauna tanah di tegakan P. mooniana mencerminkan ekosistem tanah yang berfungsi dan mendukung penggunaan makrofauna tanah sebagai indikator biologis untuk pengelolaan hutan berkelanjutan dan konservasi tegakan P. mooniana.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis diversitas dan distribusi spasial tutupan lahan di Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Limboto, khususnya Sub DAS Biyonga, pada rentang waktu 2009–2024. Analisis dilakukan untuk mengetahui tingkat keragaman spasial serta dinamika perubahan tutupan lahan selama periode tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) untuk memetakan, mengklasifikasikan, dan membandingkan perubahan tutupan lahan antar tahun pengamatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada tahun 2019, terjadi pergeseran struktur tutupan lahan di Desa Biyonga: hutan sekunder meningkat menjadi 32%, semak belukar menurun menjadi 21%, dan pertanian campur semak bertambah menjadi 25%. Perubahan ini membuat nilai SHDI naik menjadi 1,647, namun nilai tersebut menunjukan hasil sedang tetapi  masih tergolong rendah, yang berarti tingkat heterogenitas lanskap belum mencapai kondisi yang benar-benar beragam. Kenaikan SHDI ini hanya menunjukkan adanya sedikit peningkatan variasi spasial, bukan transformasi besar yang menciptakan lanskap kompleks. Sedangkan, pada tahun 2024, komposisi tutupan lahan di Desa Biyonga relatif stabil dibandingkan kondisi tahun 2019: hutan sekunder tetap berada pada 32%, pertanian campur semak pada 25%, dan semak belukar pada 21%. Nilai SHDI masih berada pada angka 1,647, yang meskipun menunjukkan konsistensi pola dari tahun 2019, tetap tergolong rendah berdasarkan standar ekologi lanskap. Kategori SHDI ini mengindikasikan bahwa tingkat heterogenitas lanskap belum mencapai keragaman yang tinggi, karena distribusi tutupan lahan masih terfokus pada beberapa kelas dominan dan persebarannya belum merata.

Abstract

Macaca hecki merupakan spesies primata endemik Pulau Sulawesi, yaitu monyet hitam Sulawesi yang populasinya kini terancam akibat deforestasi, fragmentasi habitat, dan konflik dengan manusia karena perambahan serta persaingan terhadap sumber pakan, terutama tanaman budidaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis vegetasi tumbuhan pakan Macaca hecki di kawasan penyangga Suaka Margasatwa Nantu Gorontalo, Indonesia. Metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif, dengan analisis vegetasi berbasis purposive random sampling serta pembagian petak contoh untuk strata semai, pancang, dan pohon. Data dikumpulkan melalui survei vegetasi lapangan, identifikasi jenis tumbuhan, dan perhitungan Indeks Nilai Penting (INP). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buah merupakan organ tumbuhan yang paling dominan dikonsumsi oleh Macaca hecki, dengan sumber pakan budidaya memiliki proporsi lebih besar (65%) dibandingkan sumber alami (35%). Pada tingkat pohon, Leucaena leucocephala memiliki nilai INP tertinggi (111,31%), diikuti oleh Arenga pinnata (69,11%), sedangkan Carica papaya (145,54%) mendominasi tingkat pancang dan Physalis angulata (149,04%) mendominasi tingkat semai. Jenis-jenis tumbuhan berbuah cepat tumbuh ini menyediakan sumber energi penting serta dukungan struktural bagi habitat. Namun, ketergantungan yang tinggi terhadap tumbuhan budidaya dapat mengubah perilaku mencari makan alami Macaca hecki, yang berpotensi mengurangi keragaman pakan dan kemampuan adaptasi ekologisnya. Hasil penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya pengelolaan vegetasi terpadu di kawasan penyangga untuk menyeimbangkan antara spesies asli dan budidaya, guna menjamin stabilitas ketersediaan pakan dan mengurangi konflik antara manusia dan satwa liar.

Abstract

Harimau Sumatera (Panthera tigris sumatrae) satwa dilindungi menurut UU No 5 tahun 1990 tentang Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam Hayati dan Ekosistemnya dan dalam Peraturan Pemerintah yaitu PP No 7 tahun 1999 tentang Pengawetan Tumbuhan dan Satwa. Ancaman kepunahan harimau sumatera pada kategori kritis, namun informasi mengenai dinamika populasinya di ekosistem spesifik lahan basah. Taman Nasional Berbak dan Sembilang yang menjadi salah satu Kawasan konservasi yang melakukan pemantauan satwa ini secara intensif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan sebaran populasi melalui analisis kelimpahan relatif dan tingkat hunian (occupancy) di kawasan tiger core area, Taman Nasional Berbak dan Sembilang. Menggunakan data dari 50 titik kamera pengintai (camera trap), penelitian ini mengevaluasi keberadaan harimau sumatera berdasarkan intensitas pergerakan dan preferensi habitat yang dipilih sebagai hunian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai indeks kelimpahan relatif sebesar 6,4 foto per 100 hari, dengan tingkat hunian mencapai 33%. Analisis data mengidentifikasi bahwa jarak dari sungai merupakan faktor lingkungan paling dominan (97%) yang mempengaruhi keberadaan harimau sumatera di wilayah penelitian. Temuan ini memberikan implikasi penting bagi pengelola kawasan untuk memprioritaskan perlindungan ekosistem sempadan sungai sebagai jalur pergerakan utama dan habitat kunci dalam upaya konservasi harimau sumatera.
