Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of using number mussels as an educational medium to develop counting skills in children aged 5–6 years. Numeracy represents a fundamental cognitive ability that supports problem-solving and daily life activities. However, children’s mathematical understanding often varies depending on genetic, environmental, and experiential factors. To address these differences, this research implements a qualitative classroom action approach conducted at PAUD Hidayatul Mustafid, Tangerang-Banten. Ten students participated in learning activities using the number mussel tool, which integrates numbers, colors, and sizes to stimulate children’s cognitive and fine motor development. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and evaluation, and analyzed using the Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy as an assessment framework. The results demonstrate that the number mussel medium effectively enhances children’s critical, creative, collaborative, and communicative abilities. Participants actively engaged in identifying numbers, performing simple arithmetic operations, and recognizing color and size variations. Overall, the use of number mussels proved to be an effective and engaging learning tool for developing early numeracy skills while simultaneously fostering social interaction and physical coordination among preschool learners.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the gross motor skills of early childhood through the traditional Tarek Pukat dance at TKIT Diana Assaffa Islamic Kindergarten, Lhokseumawe. The research employs a qualitative approach with the Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kurt Lewin model, consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques. The subjects were sixteen children aged 5–6 years in Group B. The findings reveal a significant improvement in children’s gross motor abilities after participating in Tarek Pukat dance activities. In Cycle I, only 31.25% of children reached the expected developmental level, while 12.5% had not yet developed. However, in Cycle II, 81.25% of the children achieved developmental success, with 43.75% categorized as “developed very well.” The improvement demonstrates that Tarek Pukat dance effectively enhances balance, coordination, and rhythmic movement in early learners. The study concludes that integrating local cultural elements, such as traditional dance, into early childhood education provides both developmental and cultural benefits, enriching children’s physical growth while fostering appreciation for local heritage.

Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelago with abundant and beautiful marine resources. This is due to the underwater ecosystem that is still maintained. In order to maintain the underwater ecosystem, it is important to instil awareness to protect the environment from an early age from things that can damage the underwater ecosystem. Therefore, it is important for children to understand the underwater situation so that children know how beautiful and rich in benefits to be enjoyed by the Indonesian people. This makes learning about underwater life necessary for early childhood to enrich their knowledge and understanding. Children cannot yet be invited to think abstractly, so the use of concrete media in order to be able to channel children's imagination into more real things. The learning media used to study underwater ecosystems mostly only use two-dimensional visual media, so children do not feel the real sensation of being under the sea. Therefore, this research aims to develop two-dimensional visual media into virtual reality media. The existence of Virtual Reality learning media is able to provide real information and can interact directly with the marine environment. This research uses design research methods with qualitative analysis that discusses how to design Virtual Reality applications suitable for children aged 5-6 years that can simulate underwater ecosystems. Virtual Reality which is used as an alternative media in learning about marine biota for children is an effort to preserve marine biota in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether APE "Di Rumah" is effective in increasing the independence and development of children aged 5-6 years. Independence is very important because it can influence their development towards elementary school level. At this stage, children begin to show developmental maturity in social, emotional, and cognitive skills that are important for school. They begin to be able to handle themselves better, such as wearing clothes, helping with housework, and following simple instructions. Homework is often seen as a way to teach children to be more responsible. However, there are more benefits to this habit, especially in terms of training independence for children aged 5-6 years. Getting children aged 5-6 years old used to doing homework is an important step in preparing them for elementary school. Involving children in homework helps them build good habits, increasing children's independence skills. The method used in this research is through descriptive qualitative methods by collecting research results from APE "Di Rumah". Data collection was carried out through observation activities on early childhood children in Class B aged 5-6 years at the Kindergarten Lab School UPI Serang Campus. The data analysis technique was carried out using the Revised Bloom Operational Verb which was used as a research instrument. The research results show that APE "Di Rumah" is effective in supporting the independent development of children aged 5-6 years.

Abstract

This research seeks to dig deeper into the relationships built in the learning process at Darul Hanifah Kindergarten, especially related to religious tolerance because the religions adhered to by students attending Darul Hanifah Kindergarten are heterogeneous (Islam and religious beliefs). This research uses a qualitative case study approach. The case study method was chosen because there were cases of religious diversity/beliefs held by Darul Hanifah Kindergarten students. Observation, interviews, and documentation are data collection techniques. These three techniques were chosen to strengthen the data obtained. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique chosen in this research is data triangulation, so that the validity of the existing data can be recognized. The subjects of this research were the principal, teachers, and students of Darul Hanifah Kindergarten. Religious tolerance between students, teachers, school principals, and parents is well established. Children understand that around them there is diversity in terms of religion but this does not make them different and separate themselves in the learning process. However, it cannot be denied that teachers' involvement in instilling tolerance among children is quite dominant.

Abstract

Children with special needs often face various challenges in developing independence, such as maintaining personal hygiene, dressing themselves, and performing other daily activities. This study aims to examine the role of parents in supporting the development of independence in children with special needs at Zamzam Kindergarten. The method employed is qualitative, with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and document studies, as well as triangulation to ensure the validity of the findings. The results of the study highlight the role of guidance, familiarization with simple activities, and motivation provided by parents in enhancing children's independence. However, time constraints and a lack of parental knowledge base remain the pivotal challenges. Collaboration between parents and the school, such as through parenting classes, has proven effective in supporting children's independence development. These findings emphasize that synergy between parents and the school is key to optimally fostering independence in children with special needs.
