Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Thinking Aloud Pair Problem Solving (TAPPS) learning model on the mathematical problem solving abilities of eighth grade students of SMP. This research is a quasi-experimental research with Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP. In determining the sample, the saturated sample technique was used, where the samples in this study were class VIII-A as the control class and class VIII-B as the experimental class. The instrument used in this research is a test of mathematical problem solving ability on number pattern material. Quantitative data analysis was performed using a gain t-test. The results of data analysis obtained thitung = 2.14 and ttable = 2.064 so that thitung > ttable then H0 is rejected which indicates that there are differences in students' mathematical problem solving abilities between classes that receive TAPPS learning and direct learning. This shows that learning with the TAPPS model has an effect on the mathematical problem solving abilities of eighth grade students of SMP. The influence of the application of the Thinking Aloud Pair Problem Solving (TAPPS) learning model on the mathematical problem solving ability of class VIII students at SMP on the number pattern material using the effect size formula (d) is 1.907, which means that the effect given has a high category.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' thinking levels based on Van Hiele's theory on quadrilaterals and triangles material in terms of reflective and impulsive cognitive styles. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII H SMP Negeri 1 Wanasaba. The instruments used are cognitive style tests, geometry tests, and interviews. The results showed that the cognitive style of students in class VIII H of SMP Negeri 1 Wanasaba was generally dominated by students with reflective and impulsive cognitive styles, 71.9% greater than students with fast accurate and slow inaccurate cognitive styles, namely 28.1%. Students with reflective cognitive style are generally at the analysis level (level 1). Reflektive students are able to identify the shapes of quadrilaterals and triangles, are able to determine the names of a quadrilateral and triangular shapes, are able to determine the properties and similarities of the properties. Students with impulsive cognitive style are generally at the visualization level (level 0). Impulsive student at this level are able to identify rectangular and triangular and are able to determine the names of flat shapes correctly but not yet complete.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical representation ability based on the learning styles of students for 11th grade of senior high school 4 Praya Academic year 2020/2021. Type of research used descriptive research with a quantitative approach. In determining the sample used purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study was 60 students of class XII MIPA 4 and XII MIPA 6 SMAN 4 Praya. According results of the research, the conclusion was mathematical representation ability of students with visual learning style reach 51.59 in very low category. The mathematical representation ability of students with auditory learning style reach 64.29 in medium category. The mathematical representation ability of students with kinesthetic learning styles reach 49.89 in very low category. The mathematical representation ability of students with auditory learning style has highest category than students with visual and kinesthetic learning styles.

Abstract

Kemampuan literasi matematika dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah merupakan kemampuan yang sangat penting dalam pendidikan Matematika. Literasi matematika secara konseptual memiliki keterkaitan dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Tujuan penulisan artikel ini yaitu untuk mengkaji defenisi literasi matematika dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah berdasarkan literatur dan mengkaji keterkaitan dari kedua kemampuan matematis tersebut. Metode dalam penulisan artikel ini yaitu menggunakan metode studi literatur. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mengkaji artikel, makalah konferensi dan juga buku yang terkait. Dari 40 artikel awal, hanya ada 32 artikel yang sesuai kriteria yaitu terbitan 10 tahun terakhir dan juga terindeks Sinta atau Scopus. Dari hasil kajian, disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah merupakan komponen kompetensi dalam literasi matematika. Sehingga keberadaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dalam individu akan mempengaruhi kemampuan literasi matematika.

Abstract

This research is class action research aimed at enhancing the students understanding mathematical concepts using NHT cooperative learning model in class VIII-1 SMP Bhakti Nusantara Jakarta. The study was implemented in 3 cycles. The NHT cooperative learning model consists of five phases, they are: Numbering phase, questioning phase, heads together phase, call out phase and answering phase. The final test score for understanding the mathematical concepts of SP1 in cycle I was 78.6, in cycle II became to 82.1, in cycle III increased to 85.7. SP2 in cycle I was 71,4, in cycle II became to 75, in cycle III increased to 92,9. SP3 in cycle I was 57,1, in cycle II became to 67,9, in cycle III increased to 75. SP4 in cycle I was 67,9, in cycle II became to 78,6, in cycle III increased to 82,1. SP5 in cycle I was 46,4, in cycle II became to 71,4, in cycle III increased to 85,7. SP6 in cycle I was 57,1, in cycle II became to 60,8, in cycle III increased to 75. So, it can be concluded that the application of the NHT cooperative model can increase the student’s ability in understanding mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Students’ mathematical critical thinking skills are still low. Therefore, it takes effort to overcome, one of them is using other learning models. This study aims to determine learning models that can improve students' mathematical critical thinking skills. This study is quantitative research using library research methods (literature review). The data used are secondary data from 10 different articles of national and international mathematics education journals, the analysis technique is content analysis. The result obtains 8 learning models that can improve middle level students' mathematical critical thinking skills. These learning models are Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), Creative Problem Solving, Means-Ends Analysis, Problem Based Learning, Brain Based Learning, Contextual Teaching and Learning, Discovery Learning, and Open-Ended Learning. This research is expected to help teachers to consider learning models that can be applied in the class.

Abstract

The development of learning by involving technology is one of the impacts of the rapid development of technology. Currently educators are still determining the appropriate learning model for the teaching process, the lack of teaching time in schools is one of the problems that arise and understanding student concepts is also the reason student learning outcomes are not satisfactory. There are many challenges faced by teachers and students in learning mathematics today. Several alternative solutions to these challenges can be found in the literature, one of which is by implementing a flipped classroom. In the flipped classroom, learning activities that are usually carried out in the classroom are carried out outside the classroom. Thus, activities in the classroom can be focused on activities that can stimulate students to think at a higher level. Although it looks promising, this kind of learning does not always have a positive impact on student learning. Therefore, this flipped classroom needs to be designed in such a way that it has more value in terms of learning design. Providing flipped classroom learning design elements into this learning will have the potential to increase the quality of mathematics learning. Therefore, this article will review the literature related to the flipped classroom learning design in learning mathematics on vector material. Specifically, this article will examine the definition and design of the flipped classroom, along with the challenges of its implementation. Finally, this article will review studies that have designed and implemented flipped classrooms in mathematics learning, especially in vector material. From the results of the theoretical study, it can be concluded that the steps in the design of vector material flipped classrooms can support mathematics learning and have the opportunity to be developed in various units of education level.

Abstract

This article presents the development of instructional design in conditions of online learning following the Dick, Carey & Carey model on the topic of statistics for 7th grade of junior high school students in the 2nd semester. The material that will be discussed is presenting data. The instructional design was developed based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), using Project-based Learning aided Microsoft Excel and Edmodo as a Learning Management System (LMS). The development begins with identifying and analyzing learning and students’ characteristics. Performance objectives, instrument assessment, development of learning strategies, formative and summative evaluation plans are also discussed in detail and in harmony with each other. At the end, we discuss things that must be considered in the implementation process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil belajar akuntansi terhadap pelaksanaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) di SMK Negeri 1 Sumenep. Adapun yang menjadi subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XII Akuntansi 2 SMK Negeri 1 Sumenep yang berjumlah 35 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, pada siklus I terdapat 12 siswa (34,3%) dari 35 siswa masih belum mampu mencapai KKM, dan sebanyak 23 (65,7%) siswa kelas XII Akuntansi 2 telah mencapai KKM. Pada siklus II, hasil tes formatif siswa yang kompeten sejumlah 33 (94,3%) dan 2 siswa (5,7%) belum kompeten. Apabila dibandingkan, minat dan perhatian pada pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran STAD dari siklus I ke siklus II mengalami kenaikan sebesar 60%. Siswa memberikan respon positif terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to produce comic-based teaching materials in algebraic forms to improve students' literacy skills. This study aims to: 1) Describe the procedure for developing comic-based teaching materials on algebraic materials to improve students' literacy skills. 2) Improve students' literacy skills after using comic-based teaching materials. 3) Knowing the responses of students and teachers to the use of comic-based teaching materials in algebraic forms to improve students' literacy skills. The research method used is R&D. The research site is at SMAN I Sintang. The assessment of mathematical literacy abilities of students in class X IPS 1 SMAN 1 Sintang is high with an average score of 71.08% at the level of problem solving and mathematical reasoning abilities. Meanwhile, the teacher's response based on the teacher's response questionnaire analysis had an average value of 75% with interpretation criteria, and student responses based on the results of the student response questionnaire analysis had an average value of 79.75% with interpretation criteria.Soit can be concluded that the development of learning media carried out is declared feasible, interesting and effective to use in learning
