Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of using TikTok’s "Duet" feature on improving the speaking skills of eleventh-grade students. The research problem addressed the challenge of enhancing students’ English-speaking abilities through innovative digital media. A quasi-experimental research method with a pre-test and post-test design was applied to a sample of 44 students (n = 44) from the eleventh grade at SMA Labschool Untad Palu. The treatment involved using TikTok’s Duet feature as a learning medium during the speaking activities. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ speaking abilities (t = 6.21, p < 0.05) after the treatment, indicating the positive impact of the intervention. This significant improvement was observed in the accuracy, fluency, and comprehensibility aspects of speaking. The findings suggest that TikTok’s Duet feature can be an effective tool to support English-speaking skill development in high school students. However, the study has limitations, including the short duration of the treatment and the limited sample size. Further research is needed to assess the long-term effects of this intervention and to explore its applicability in diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance digital tolerance in Indonesia by developing an integrated framework for religious literacy. It responds to fragmented and ineffective approaches that fail to create a constructive digital environment for interfaith dialogue and unity. Employing a systematic literature review verified through the CRAAP method, this research synthesizes insights from multidisciplinary studies to construct a model based on three pillars: gamification to enhance youth engagement with moderation values; digital literacy to develop critical and reflective online behavior; and local wisdom as a cultural filter for strengthening social resilience. Findings indicate that the integration of these three elements fosters an interactive, inclusive, and culturally grounded digital ecosystem that supports interfaith understanding and mitigates radicalism. The study concludes that cross-sector collaboration between government, educational institutions, and religious organizations is essential for effective implementation. This conceptual model provides a strategic foundation for building a tolerant and harmonious digital society aligned with Pancasila’s principles.

Abstract

This study investigates the correlation between family environment and the cognitive learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in Pancasila Education at public elementary schools in the Joglo Administrative Village, West Jakarta. The study adopts a quantitative correlational design with a sample of 87 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a family environment questionnaire and a cognitive test on the topic of Norms, both of which were validated and found reliable (Cronbach’s α = 0.836). The data were analyzed using the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test, preceded by normality and linearity checks. Results revealed a strong positive correlation (r = 0.663, p < 0.05) between family environment and students’ cognitive learning outcomes. The determinant coefficient (R² = 0.44) indicates that the family environment accounts for 44% of the variance in learning outcomes, with the remaining 56% attributed to other factors, such as school context, peers, and motivation. These findings affirm the significant role of family support, attention, and parenting patterns in shaping students’ academic performance, particularly in subjects related to moral and civic education, such as Pancasila Education. The study recommends enhanced collaboration between schools and parents to improve student achievement through a supportive learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group counselling with expressive writing therapy in enhancing self-acceptance among junior high school students from broken home families at Madrasah Aliah Al-Jam’iyatul Washliyah Tembung. A pre-experimental design, consisting of a one-group pretest–posttest, was employed, involving eight students selected through purposive sampling based on their low self-acceptance scores. The intervention consisted of four sessions of group counselling, each incorporating expressive writing exercises to explore emotions, reflect on personal experiences, and develop coping strategies. Pretest and posttest results were analysed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ self-acceptance, with scores increasing from the low category to the high category (Z = -2.670, p = 0.008) and a very large effect size (r = 0.94). The study demonstrates that expressive writing therapy, when incorporated into group counselling, effectively fosters emotional regulation, psychological resilience, and self-esteem in adolescents facing family challenges. Limitations include a small sample size, absence of a control group, short intervention duration, and potential subjectivity in self-assessment. Future research is recommended to incorporate control groups, larger samples, extended interventions, longitudinal follow-ups, and qualitative approaches to deepen understanding of self-acceptance development.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) teachers in enhancing students’ national and state awareness at SMA Budisatrya Medan. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected from one principal, one PPKn teacher, ten students, and two staff through interviews, observations, and documentation. Results show that most students demonstrated a moderate level of awareness, with weaknesses in discipline, social responsibility, and consistency in applying Pancasila values. Globalisation, social media, low motivation, and limited support from family and school influenced low awareness. PPKn teachers played key roles as role models, facilitators, and motivators, using strategies such as contextual learning, project-based learning, discussions, and extracurricular activities to internalise national values. This study contributes to civic education by showing how contextual and participatory approaches strengthen students’ national identity. It recommends teacher training, digital-based civic projects, and stronger school–parent collaboration to reinforce nationalism in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Islamic guidance services incorporating self-management techniques in reducing the level of social media addiction among students at Al-Ulum High School in Medan. The background of the research stems from the increasing addictive behaviour towards social media among adolescents, which negatively impacts academic, social, and spiritual aspects. An Islamic approach is applied because it emphasises self-awareness, behavioural control, and the implementation of moral and spiritual principles, such as muhasabah (self-reflection), istiqamah (consistency), and murāqabah (self-monitoring). The research method employs a quantitative approach, utilising a pre-experimental one–group pretest–posttest design. The research sample consists of 19 tenth-grade students selected purposively because they exhibited symptoms of social media addiction. Data were collected through a social media addiction questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.786). Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a significant decrease in students' social media addiction levels, with the average score dropping from 77.9 (high category) to 57.6 (low to moderate category), and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. These findings demonstrate that Islamic counselling services using self-management techniques are effective in enhancing self-regulation and reducing addictive behaviour towards social media.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of using technology-based Flipbook learning media in increasing students' learning motivation in Social Studies (IPS) subjects in grade XI at SMAS Dharma Utama Medan. The background of the research stems from the low motivation and participation of students in IPS learning, which is still dominated by conventional methods. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design to gain an in-depth understanding of students' learning experiences using Flipbooks. The research subjects consisted of IPS teachers and eighth grade XI students, while data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation during the period from July to September 2025. The research results indicate a substantial increase in students' motivation and engagement following the implementation of Flipbook media. Students became more active in discussions, were bolder in asking questions, and showed higher interest and learning independence. The use of a Flipbook with text, image, video, and interactive animation features created an engaging and enjoyable learning environment, thereby fostering students' intrinsic motivation to understand social studies material independently. Additionally, Flipbook-based learning also strengthened digital literacy and increased students' active participation in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group counseling using the Behavioral Contract Technique (Group Counseling with Behavioral Contract Technique / GC-BCT) in improving the work readiness of vocational high school students. The study employs a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group model. The research sample consists of 30 students selected purposively and divided into two groups: experimental and control, each comprising 15 students. The instrument used is the Work Readiness Scale with high reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.91). Data analysis was conducted using paired t-tests and independent t-tests with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The research results indicate that there was a significant increase in students' work readiness after participating in group counseling services using the behavioral contract technique, with a calculated t-value of 4.280 and a Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.001 (< 0.05). Improvements occurred in the aspects of discipline, responsibility, communication, and achievement motivation. These results demonstrate that GC-BCT is effective in enhancing vocational high school students' work readiness, as it promotes behavioral commitment and collective responsibility through social reinforcement within the group.

Abstract

The issue of teachers’ participation in school decision-making remains a complex and enduring topic of educational research. This study examines the extent to which English language teachers in lower secondary schools in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, engage in curriculum development. Adopting an exploratory design, data were collected through questionnaires administered to 40 Cambodian EFL teachers, followed by in-depth interviews with six participants to obtain qualitative insights. The findings indicate that teachers’ involvement in curriculum development is limited and insufficiently institutionalized, with many respondents reporting low confidence in their decision-making capacities yet expressing a strong aspiration to contribute more actively. Namely, many teachers felt dissatisfied with their restricted role in curriculum-related decisions. The results also reveal the dominance of a top-down management structure and the absence of a collaborative professional culture that recognizes teachers as legitimate stakeholders in curricular decision-making. These findings suggest an urgent need for policy reforms that institutionalize participatory mechanisms, enhance teachers’ professional agency, and foster a more inclusive and dialogic approach to curriculum development in Cambodian schools.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of School-Based Quality Improvement Management (MPMBS) in elementary schools across Bandung Regency, Indonesia. MPMBS represents an autonomy-driven management model emphasising participatory decision-making and collective responsibility to enhance educational quality. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through online questionnaires and semi-structured interviews involving school principals and teachers. The analysis focused on leadership roles, participatory planning, and factors influencing implementation. Findings indicate that school principals demonstrate visionary leadership by fostering collaboration among teachers, parents, and community stakeholders. MPMBS has been effectively implemented in most schools, although challenges remain—particularly limited financial resources, inadequate infrastructure, and issues with teacher motivation. The study concludes that effective implementation of MPMBS depends on strong leadership, resource optimisation, and effective stakeholder engagement. It recommends targeted professional development, resource allocation, and policy reinforcement to strengthen quality improvement practices in primary education. These insights offer practical guidance for educational policymakers and school leaders seeking sustainable management strategies in decentralised educational settings.
