Abstract

Low mental health literacy contributes to high mental health stigma among students. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of mental health literacy-based group counselling services in reducing mental health stigma among students at MAN 1 Kota Palu. The study uses a quantitative approach with a pretest–posttest control group quasi-experimental design. The sample comprised 21 students, divided into an experimental and a control group. The experimental group received six sessions of mental health literacy-based group counselling services, while the control group did not receive any treatment. The research instruments used were the Mental Health Literacy Questionnaire–Short Version Adult (MHLq-SVa) and the Mental Health Stigma Scale. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon and Mann–Whitney tests. The results showed a significant increase in mental health literacy and a decrease in mental health stigma in the experimental group (p < 0.05), as well as a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p = 0.000). These findings indicate that mental health literacy-based group counselling is an effective psychosocial intervention in school settings.

Abstract

The management of productive teachers in vocational schools faces significant challenges, particularly in cross-border educational institutions that experience limitations in human resources, recruitment authority, and professional development opportunities. This study aims to analyze the management of productive teachers at SMK Sekolah Indonesia Kota Kinabalu, focusing on planning, recruitment, professional development, performance evaluation, compensation, and termination, and to identify adaptive strategies grounded in organizational resilience theory. This research employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, program coordinators, productive teachers, and adaptive teachers, complemented by participatory observation and document analysis. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The findings reveal that the management of productive teachers faces multiple constraints, including mismatches in workforce planning, recruitment limitations, restricted professional development, suboptimal performance evaluation, and inadequate compensation systems. To address these challenges, the school implements adaptive strategies such as involving adaptive teachers, inviting industry practitioners as guest instructors, and establishing partnerships with business and industrial sectors. This study concludes that adaptive teacher management grounded in organizational resilience is essential to sustain the quality of vocational education and recommends strengthening data-driven human resource systems, continuous capacity-building programs, and strategic industry collaboration.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of gadget use on the empathy of junior high school students in Palu City. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a cluster sampling technique. The population in this study comprises all students of Junior High School Model Terpadu Madani and Junior High School 19 Palu. Data were collected using a validated Likert-scale questionnaire on gadget use and empathy, both of which demonstrated good reliability (α = 0.914 and α = 0.885, respectively). Data analysis used descriptive statistics and simple linear regression using SPSS version 26. The results showed that 78.0% of students used gadgets highly, and 64.3% showed high empathy. The regression results showed a positive and significant effect of gadget use on empathy (t 3.653, p < 0.05), with a regression coefficient of 0.193. These results indicate that gadget use affects students' empathy, feelings, and understanding of the suffering of others who experience disasters through exposure to or visual content on gadgets. This fosters empathy as seen from large-scale online donations. Through emotional narratives and content, social awareness and empathy can be increased.

Abstract

The widespread use of TikTok among students has increased their exposure to English–Indonesian code-mixing, which may influence vocabulary learning. However, empirical evidence regarding the effect of code-mixed TikTok content on students’ vocabulary development remains limited. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effect of TikTok content containing English–Indonesian code-mixing on students’ vocabulary development at SMAN 1 Sojol. This study employed a quantitative pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test. The participants were 27 students from class X-C, selected through purposive sampling. Vocabulary tests and classroom observations were used as research instruments, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery, with the mean score increasing from 57.78 in the pre-test to 74.63 in the post-test, resulting in an average gain of 16.85 points. The statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a significant effect of the treatment. These findings suggest that exposure to code-mixed TikTok content effectively enhances students’ vocabulary acquisition by providing contextual, engaging, and multimodal language input. Thus, TikTok can be considered an effective supplementary learning tool to support English vocabulary development.

Abstract

Institutional transformation in higher education has become unavoidable in response to regulatory changes, organizational demands, and socio-cultural developments in the Society 5.0 era. In Indonesia, private universities affiliated with faith-based organizations face additional challenges in governance, cultural integration, and institutional legitimacy. This study investigates the transformation process of Aisyiyah higher education institutions through a case study of Universitas Aisyiyah Palembang, which evolved from a health-focused college into a comprehensive university. The research aims to examine change management practices, identify internal and external challenges, and evaluate strategic initiatives undertaken during the transformation process. A qualitative approach was used, including in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, to explore organizational experiences and leadership strategies. The findings indicate that institutional change followed a structured process involving preparation, transition, and stabilization phases. Key obstacles included financial constraints, human resource readiness, regulatory compliance, and cultural adaptation. These challenges were addressed through collegial leadership, strategic institutional development, and the internalization of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan values as a foundation for organizational sustainability. The study concludes that successful institutional transformation requires strong leadership commitment, cultural alignment, and long-term strategic planning.

Abstract

Social Studies (IPS) learning, particularly the material on Indonesia's Struggle for Independence, plays an important role in fostering historical awareness, nationalism, and students' character. However, IPS learning in Madrasah Tsanawiyah still tends to be teacher-centred and rote, thereby involving students less actively and not yet fully internalising the values of the struggle. This study aims to develop a role-playing learning model integrated with the Integrated IPS textbook on the History of Indonesia's Struggle for Independence for grade IX students at MTs Yanbu'ul Ulum Kandis, and to test its feasibility and effectiveness. This study uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with stages including preliminary study, planning, product development, expert validation, limited trials, and model refinement. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, learning outcomes tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The research results indicate that the developed role-playing learning model is valid and feasible, as assessed by material experts, learning model experts, and practitioners. In addition, the implementation of the model has been proven effective in improving cognitive learning outcomes, learning activities, nationalism attitudes, social skills, and students' learning motivation, as well as facilitating teachers in managing learning. Therefore, the role-playing learning model based on the Integrated Social Studies (IPS) textbook can serve as an innovative alternative for teaching history-related IPS in Madrasah Tsanawiyah, fostering more meaningful, contextual, and character-oriented learning.

Abstract

Communication anxiety is a psychological problem commonly experienced by junior high school students and has an impact on learning participation, social interaction, and academic development. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of group counselling using the self-talk technique in reducing communication anxiety among eighth-grade students at YPAK PTPN III Gunung Para Private Junior High School. This study employed a quantitative, quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group. The research sample consisted of 16 students who had high levels of communication anxiety, comprising 8 students in the experimental group and 8 students in the control group, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a communication anxiety scale covering mood, cognitive, somatic, and motor aspects. Data analysis was conducted using normality and homogeneity tests and a paired-samples t-test in SPSS version 27. The results showed a significant decrease in communication anxiety in the experimental group after receiving group counselling with the self-talk technique, as indicated by a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05. These findings demonstrate that group counselling using the self-talk technique is effective in reducing students' communication anxiety. This study provides theoretical contributions to strengthen the cognitive-behavioural approach and practical contributions as a reference for guidance and counselling teachers in designing effective group counselling services at the junior high school level.

Abstract

The rapid technological shift in education increasingly requires teachers to demonstrate strong digital literacy aligned with continuous curriculum reform processes. In Indonesia, the Merdeka Curriculum promotes learner-centred pedagogy and systematic technology integration; however, many Islamic Education teachers still struggle to effectively apply digital competencies in lesson planning, instructional delivery, and assessment practices. This qualitative case study examined how innovative school leadership supports and strengthens teachers’ digital literacy development in a public secondary school in South Sumatra. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant classroom observations, and document analysis involving principals, teachers, administrative staff, and students. The data were analysed thematically using iterative analytical procedures supported by trustworthiness strategies. The findings reveal that leadership practices such as shared vision building, mentoring, instructional supervision, and collaborative professional learning consistently embed digital competence within school planning and ongoing professional development. These practices enhance teachers’ confidence, adaptability, and their use of digital tools in the classroom. Overall, leadership bridges curriculum reform objectives with teachers’ digital readiness in Education contexts.
