Abstract

Mathematical reasoning is recognized as a core competency in mathematics education; however, a comprehensive overview of its research development and thematic evolution remains limited. This study aims to map the research landscape of mathematical reasoning over the last decade in order to identify publication trends, influential contributors, and emerging research themes. A quantitative bibliometric approach was employed using Scopus-indexed journal articles, which were analyzed and visualized through VOSviewer to examine co-authorship networks, keyword co-occurrence, and thematic evolution. The findings indicate a significant growth in publications since 2018, reflecting increasing global attention to mathematical reasoning. The results further reveal that research in this field has developed multidimensionally, integrating cognitive, pedagogical, evaluative, and contextual dimensions, with a recent shift toward assessment practices, problem-based learning, and technology-enhanced instruction. These findings confirm that mathematical reasoning has become a mature and strategically important field in mathematics education, while highlighting opportunities for further research that integrate digital innovation and deep learning-oriented approaches.

Abstract

Rapid urbanization generates structural social change and reshapes everyday lifestyles, creating new challenges for migrant students in sustaining religious commitment within metropolitan settings. This study examines how urban social dynamics shape migrant students' religiosity and explores how religious life is negotiated amid heterogeneous values and weakened social control. Using a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected through in-depth interviews and field observations with 16 migrant students from regions outside Jakarta who have resided for 3 to 4 years in boarding houses, dormitories, and rented residences in the Rawamangun area, East Jakarta. The findings reveal that adaptation to urban culture is a key factor shaping variations in religiosity. Some students adjust their religious practices to align with urban social expectations, resulting in reduced consistency of worship, while others maintain religious routines as a moral anchor and coping resource. Distinct psycho-spiritual patterns emerge between students who internalize urban lifestyles and those who preserve religious discipline, indicating that religiosity functions both as a vulnerable domain under urban pressure and as a source of resilience in navigating urban life.

Abstract

Employee performance in educational institutions is frequently associated with leadership style, empowerment practices, and organizational commitment; however, comprehensive empirical models integrating these variables, particularly within private school contexts, remain underexplored. This study aims to analyze the influence of servant leadership on employee empowerment, examine the effect of empowerment on the three dimensions of organizational commitment (affective, normative, and continuance), assess their impact on job performance, and test the moderating role of perceived supervisor support. A quantitative research design was employed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Data were collected from 161 private school teachers in Tangerang through purposive sampling and analyzed using SmartPLS 4. Measurement validity and reliability were confirmed prior to hypothesis testing, and structural relationships were evaluated through bootstrapping procedures. The findings indicate that servant leadership significantly enhances employee empowerment, and empowerment positively influences affective, normative, and continuance commitment. Among these dimensions, only affective commitment has a significant positive effect on job performance, whereas normative and continuance commitment do not. Furthermore, perceived supervisor support does not moderate the relationship between employee empowerment and the three commitment dimensions. The results highlight the pivotal role of empowerment and emotional attachment in driving teacher performance and underscore servant leadership as a strategic mechanism for strengthening empowerment in educational organizations.

Abstract

This research addresses the issue of suboptimal educational staff performance in higher education institutions, which is often associated with imbalances between professional and personal life and ineffective organizational knowledge practices. The study aims to analyze the influence of work-life balance and the implementation of knowledge management on the performance of educational staff at Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani. A quantitative research design grounded in a positivist paradigm was employed. Data were obtained through semantic differential scale questionnaires, supported by observations, interviews, and secondary sources from relevant literature. From a population of 600 educational staff members, 100 respondents were selected using the Slovin formula and purposive sampling. The data were examined using descriptive and associative statistical analyses. The findings reveal that work-life balance, knowledge management implementation, and staff performance are generally perceived as moderate. Partially, work-life balance has a positive effect on educational staff performance, while knowledge management implementation also shows a stronger positive influence. Simultaneously, both variables significantly affect the performance of educational staff. These results highlight that strengthening work-life balance policies and optimizing knowledge management systems are crucial for improving the performance of educational staff in the university context.

Abstract

Globalization and rapid digital development have increasingly challenged students’ moral conduct (adab), particularly within Islamic educational institutions, as exposure to unfiltered digital content, social media influence, and external cultural values contributes to declining discipline and ethical behavior. This study examines how Islamic schools can effectively address these challenges through character-based adab education. The objective of this study is to analyze the strategies used in forming students’ adab based on Islamic character education in response to globalization dynamics at MTs Muallimin UNIVA Medan. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving Islamic education teachers, homeroom teachers, counseling teachers, and students. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to ensure the credibility of the findings. The results indicate that students’ adab formation is implemented systematically through teachers’ role modeling, religious habituation, the integration of adab values into classroom learning, religious and extracurricular programs, and persuasive, humanistic guidance. A religious school culture, teacher consistency, parental involvement, and structured institutional programs support these strategies. However, challenges remain, including the influence of social media, external peer environments, and limited parental supervision. Overall, Islamic character-based adab education at MTs Muallimin UNIVA Medan is effective in strengthening students’ moral resilience and ethical awareness, enabling them to respond wisely and responsibly to the challenges of globalization and the digital world.

Abstract

Indonesian students’ creative thinking achievement remains low (PISA 2022: 19/60; 31% reached baseline proficiency), indicating an urgent need for effective physics learning media. This meta-analysis aimed to determine the overall effectiveness of physics learning media in improving students’ creative thinking skills and to compare effects by media type and education level. Following PRISMA guidelines, we systematically searched and screened quantitative quasi-experimental studies published in 2017–2025, yielding 10 eligible articles, and calculated effect sizes using Cohen’s   to synthesise results. The findings showed a high overall effect of physics learning media on creative thinking (mean ES = 1.06), with moving audio-visual/interactive media producing the highest mean effect (ES = 1.33) and stronger effects in senior high school than junior high school (ES = 1.15 vs. 0.69). These results indicate that interactive and technology-supported physics media are effective for strengthening students’ creative thinking and should be prioritised in classroom practice.

Abstract

Adolescent anxiety is a growing mental health concern, with prevalence reaching 3.7% in Indonesia, yet practical and effective school-based interventions remain limited. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group counseling with the mindful breathing technique in reducing anxiety among students at SMA Model Terpadu Madani Palu. An experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design was employed, involving 20 students selected through purposive sampling, divided into an experimental group (n=10) and a control group (n=10). Anxiety levels were measured using the Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents (SAS-A), comprising 18 valid items (α=0.731). Data were analyzed using Paired Sample t-tests and Mann-Whitney U tests in SPSS. Results showed a significant reduction in anxiety in the experimental group (t=6.444, p=0.000, Cohen’s d=2.04), with 60% of students reaching the low-anxiety category after six intervention sessions, compared to none prior to the intervention. The Mann-Whitney U test confirmed a significant difference between groups (p=0.000). These findings demonstrate that group counseling integrated with the mindful breathing technique is an effective, accessible, and practical strategy for reducing student anxiety in school settings.
