Abstract

This study aims to analyze the subtitling strategies used in the translation of the film subtitle When Harry Met Sally from English to Indonesian. This study employs Henrik Gottlieb’s theory of subtitling strategies. A qualitative descriptive method is used, with data sources consisting of the English and Indonesian subtitles from the film. The data were analyzed based on the ten subtitling strategies proposed by Gottlieb: expansion, paraphrase, transfer, imitation, transcription, dislocation, condensation, decimation, deletion, and resignation. The results of the study indicate that paraphrase was the most dominant strategy, accounting for 36% of the total data. Conversely, dislocation and transcription were the least frequently used strategies, with each representing only 2%. The dominant use of the paraphrase strategy suggests that in films containing a significant amount of dialogue with ambiguity, metaphors, and figurative language, the paraphrase strategy is necessary to preserve meaning and prevent it from being lost in the translation process. Meanwhile, the dislocation strategy was rarely used because there were no singing scenes or significant musical elements in the film. Furthermore, the absence of a third language in the film’s dialogue meant that the transcription strategy was the least frequently used. These findings indicate that the choice of subtitling strategy is strongly influenced by the characteristics of the dialogue and the linguistic context of the film being translated.

Abstract

The Strait of Hormuz is the world’s most critical energy chokepoint, with approximately 20–27 percent of global seaborne oil trade passing through it daily. The escalation of conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran beginning on February 28, 2026, through Operation Epic Fury triggered Iran’s actual closure of the Strait of Hormuz on March 4, 2026, making it the largest energy supply disruption in the history of the global oil market. While previous studies have addressed the risk of Strait of Hormuz closure hypothetically, no research has specifically analyzed the actual impact of the 2026 closure on oil supply security within the Middle East region. This study aims to analyze how the 2026 Strait of Hormuz closure has impacted oil supply security among producing countries in the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Qatar, using Kenneth Waltz’s Structural Realism perspective. A qualitative descriptive method was employed through literature review and document analysis. The findings indicate that the 2026 closure caused regional oil exports to decline by up to 10 million barrels per day, oil prices surging beyond 100 USD per barrel, damage to major energy infrastructure, and the exposure of structural vulnerabilities in the region. From the Structural Realism perspective, Iran’s closure is a rational response to the anarchic structure of the international system and an effort to preserve its relative power position in global power distribution.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Cooperative Language Learning (CLL) in teaching vocabulary and word expressions to junior high school students at SMP Buddhi Tangerang. The need for fundamental English learning, particularly in vocabulary mastery, was identified during classroom observations, where many students demonstrated limited ability to understand and use basic English expressions. The teaching process involved introducing familiar expressions and assessing students’ vocabulary through interactive activities such as games and song analysis. The CLL method was implemented collaboratively, emphasizing group discussions, peer interaction, and shared responsibility to enhance learning effectiveness and student engagement. This approach also encouraged students to actively participate and express their ideas in a supportive learning environment. The findings reveal a significant improvement in students’ performance, as indicated by higher scores in the final assessment compared to the initial assessment, based on predetermined evaluation criteria. In addition, students demonstrated increased confidence and participation during classroom activities. Therefore, the implementation of CLL is considered effective in improving vocabulary mastery and word expression among junior high school students.

Abstract

This study examines the patterns of collaboration between Vocational High Schools (SMK) in the Office Automation and Management (OTKP) competency field and industry partners in the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation at five SMK Centers of Excellence in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java: SMKN 1 Depok Sleman, SMKN 1 Godean Sleman, SMKN 1 Wonosari, SMKN 2 Semarang, and SMK Muhammadiyah Muntilan Magelang. Informants were selected through purposive sampling, comprising vice principals for public relations and industry affairs, heads of OTKP competency programs, and OTKP teachers. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model encompassing data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that all schools formalized their partnerships through Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) valid for 3–5 years and initiated by the schools. Key collaboration activities include: student industrial internships (PKL/magang), guest practitioners teaching at schools, curriculum synchronization with industry inputs, industry-led recruitment of graduates, and job vacancy information dissemination through special employment exchanges (BKK). Challenges include difficulty finding competency-aligned industry partners, delays in job vacancy information, limited employer recognition of vocational competency certificates, negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on students' work ethic and skills, mismatches between field tasks and OTKP competencies, and fluctuating partner capacity. Both schools and industry partners recommend a Quadruple Helix partnership model integrating government, industry, universities, and schools, alongside clearer teaching factory guidelines for the administrative field. Keywords: vocational education, school–industry partnership, Merdeka Belajar curriculum, OTKP, internship program, Quadruple Helix.

Abstract

Homicide remains one of the most serious criminal offenses threatening social stability, human security, public order, and legal certainty within modern societies. The increasing complexity of homicide cases influenced by technological advancement, socio-economic inequality, organized crime, domestic violence, cyber-related criminal behavior, psychological disorders, and transnational criminal networks has significantly transformed contemporary criminal justice challenges. Conventional punitive approaches frequently prove insufficient in addressing the multidimensional causes and consequences of homicide because criminal acts of murder involve not only legal violations but also social, psychological, economic, cultural, and institutional dimensions. Consequently, modern criminal law governance increasingly emphasizes preventive strategies, digital forensic investigation systems, victimological protection, and restorative justice approaches within homicide prevention and criminal justice frameworks. This study aims to analyze the reconstruction of criminal law policy on homicide through preventive governance, digital forensic investigation, victimological protection, and restorative criminal justice approaches. The study employs a systematic literature review method by critically examining peer-reviewed international and national journal articles published between 2015 and 2026. The analysis integrates thematic analysis, comparative analysis, and narrative synthesis to identify governance patterns, institutional challenges, legal developments, criminological factors, and policy implications regarding homicide prevention and criminal justice systems.

Abstract

Transnational money laundering has become one of the most complex global financial crimes threatening economic stability, national sovereignty, public governance, and international security systems. Criminal organizations increasingly utilize sophisticated financial networks, shell corporations, offshore jurisdictions, digital assets, cryptocurrency systems, and cross-border financial transactions to conceal illicit proceeds originating from corruption, narcotics trafficking, cybercrime, terrorism financing, human trafficking, tax evasion, and organized crime. Consequently, asset recovery has emerged as one of the most strategic mechanisms within anti-money laundering governance because confiscating criminal proceeds weakens the financial infrastructure sustaining transnational criminal activities. However, transnational asset recovery remains highly challenging due to jurisdictional fragmentation, banking secrecy, legal disparities, institutional corruption, technological complexity, and weak international coordination. This study aims to analyze strategies for strengthening asset recovery in transnational money laundering crimes through international legal cooperation, financial intelligence systems, beneficial ownership transparency, and digital asset tracing governance. The study employs a systematic literature review method by critically examining peer-reviewed international and national journal articles published between 2015 and 2026. The analysis integrates thematic analysis, comparative analysis, and narrative synthesis to identify governance patterns, institutional challenges, strategic innovations, and legal implications regarding transnational asset recovery systems.

Abstract

Corruption remains one of the most persistent governance problems affecting public institutions worldwide, particularly in developing countries. Corrupt practices weaken institutional legitimacy, reduce public trust, damage economic development, and obstruct sustainable governance reform. This study aims to analyze strategies for building corruption-resilient public organizations through bureaucratic professionalism, digital oversight systems, ethical governance, and whistleblowing culture as mediating mechanisms. The study adopts a systematic literature review approach by analyzing peer-reviewed international and national journal articles published between 2015 and 2026. A total of 15 highly relevant journal articles were critically reviewed using thematic analysis, comparative analysis, and synthesis methods. The findings reveal that bureaucratic professionalism significantly contributes to corruption prevention through merit-based recruitment, competence development, institutional accountability, and procedural discipline. Digital oversight systems strengthen transparency, monitoring effectiveness, audit efficiency, and public participation in detecting corruption risks. Ethical governance enhances organizational integrity by promoting ethical leadership, institutional fairness, accountability mechanisms, and anti-corruption values. Furthermore, whistleblowing culture emerges as an important mediating mechanism capable of strengthening the relationship between organizational governance systems and corruption prevention effectiveness. The literature review demonstrates that organizations possessing strong professional bureaucracy, integrated digital supervision systems, ethical institutional cultures, and protected whistleblowing mechanisms tend to demonstrate higher corruption resistance and stronger public accountability. However, several studies indicate persistent obstacles including political intervention, weak legal protection, organizational resistance, technological limitations, fear of retaliation, and inadequate institutional commitment. This study contributes theoretically by integrating Institutional Theory, Good Governance Theory, Organizational Ethics Theory, and Fraud Triangle Theory in explaining corruption prevention systems within public organizations. Practically, the findings provide strategic recommendations for policymakers, public administrators, and anti-corruption institutions in strengthening sustainable anti-corruption governance systems.

Abstract

Community policing has emerged as one of the most strategic approaches in strengthening democratic law enforcement, public security governance, and institutional legitimacy within modern societies. In Indonesia, Sat Samapta functions as the frontline preventive policing unit responsible for patrol activities, public order maintenance, community protection, crime prevention, and rapid security response. However, rapid technological advancement, urbanization, social conflict, digital crime expansion, public distrust, and transnational security threats have significantly transformed the operational environment of policing institutions. Conventional patrol systems are increasingly insufficient in addressing complex public security challenges requiring adaptive, collaborative, and technology-driven policing strategies. This study aims to analyze adaptive community policing and public security transformation in Sat Samapta through technology-based patrol systems and participatory governance mechanisms. The study employs a systematic literature review method by examining peer-reviewed international and national journal articles published between 2015 and 2026. The analysis integrates thematic analysis, comparative analysis, and narrative synthesis to identify governance patterns, institutional challenges, strategic innovations, and operational implications regarding adaptive policing transformation.

Abstract

Human trafficking remains one of the most complex transnational crimes affecting global human security, social justice, migration governance, labor systems, and international law enforcement mechanisms. Human trafficking networks continuously evolve through technological advancement, transnational migration flows, organized criminal syndicates, labor exploitation systems, online recruitment mechanisms, and weak institutional governance structures. Despite the existence of various international legal frameworks, including the Palermo Protocol and national anti-trafficking regulations, trafficking crimes continue to increase across developing and developed countries. This study aims to analyze strategies for enhancing the effectiveness of human trafficking crime prevention through criminal policy reform, digital border control systems, social protection systems, and whistleblowing culture in law enforcement institutions. The study employs a systematic literature review method by critically examining peer-reviewed international journal articles published between 2015 and 2026. The analysis integrates thematic analysis, comparative analysis, and narrative synthesis to identify major findings, governance patterns, institutional challenges, and policy implications regarding anti-human trafficking governance.
