Abstract

This study aimed to explore the experiences of women leaders in breaking gender barriers within the Islamic boarding schools’ leadership in Indonesia. In more specific, this study would identify the factors that have enabled them to overcome the barriers that have traditionally limited the participation of women in leadership roles, specific at this type of Islamic educational institution. A qualitative case study design was employed, and in-depth interviews were conducted with seven participants. The findings revealed that the participants faced a range of barriers, including patriarchal attitudes, lack of access to education, and lack of support from family and community. However, despite these barriers, the participants were able to overcome them and could ‘successfully’ manage to lead the pesantren through utilizing their agency, building networks of support, and most importantly by challenging the patriarchal norms. The findings of this study have important implications for promoting gender equality in Islamic boarding schools and similar patriarchal institutions. This research highlights the need to challenge patriarchal attitudes and policies and to provide women with access to education and support networks. Additionally, this research also emphasizes the need to recognize and address the ways in which different forms of oppression intersect and compound to create unique challenges for marginalized individuals, particularly women leaders in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study aims to achieve the following objectives: 1) Determine the effectiveness of using Mind Mapping learning media to enhance learning outcomes. 2) Compare the learning outcomes of students using Non-Mind Mapping media with those using Mind Mapping media. 3) Assess the effectiveness of Mind Mapping in improving student learning outcomes. This research follows a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, where two groups (control and experimental) receive different treatments. The sample for this study consists of 64 students from class X IPS in the odd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The findings of this research indicate that: 1) The use of Mind Mapping improves learning outcomes in the classroom. 2) There is a significant difference in learning outcomes between the Non-Mind Mapping class and the Mind Mapping class, specifically in the Economics subject. This is supported by the average posttest results of the control group (67.27) and the experimental group (79.83), as well as the Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test which yielded a significance value of 0.000 (smaller than 0.05) at a 5% significance level, leading to the rejection of H0 and acceptance of H1. 3) However, the use of Mind Mapping is found to be less effective in improving learning outcomes in the Economics subject for class X IPS at SMAS Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak. This is evident from the average N-gain score of 47.33% for the experimental group.

Abstract

Education in Indonesia is organized by taking into account the different characteristics and needs of learners. The education process prioritizes the interests and talents of students. At SMA Dewi Sartika, SMA Muhammadiyah 5, and SMA 17 Agustus 45, the learning outcomes of economics subjects show low completeness, namely 34%, 37%, and 35%. The contributing factors include students' lack of self-efficacy and self-regulation, as well as low learning motivation. This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy and self-regulation on economic learning outcomes with learning motivation as an intervening variable. The study population was grade X students in the 2022/2023 school year in the three high schools, with a sample of 225 students. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using path analysis with the IBM SPSS 25.0 program. The results showed a positive and significant influence between self-efficacy and self-regulation on economic learning outcomes through learning motivation.

Abstract

The Indonesian government requires schools to implement the revised 2013 curriculum. The goal is to prepare the younger generation to be creative, innovative and critical. Integrated thematic books are incomplete in math materials, so students have difficulty understanding basic concepts. This research uses research and development methods. The goal is to produce learning media in the form of Student Worksheets (LKS) Square Flat Buildings. Based on the results of the media expert validation, it is known that the developed LKS media for Square Flat Buildings obtained a score of 77%, which means that the product is quite feasible and needs a little revision. Based on the results of the material expert, it is known that the media obtained a score of 75%, which means that the media is said to be feasible without revision. The conclusion of this study is that the media developed by researchers received positive responses from all experts, namely media experts, material experts and linguists. However, there are some notes to use this learning media. The learning media made by researchers are intended to improve the quality of learning so that students are interested and happy to follow the learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using interactive applications in enhancing students' understanding of algebra concepts. Using a literature review method, this study collects and analyzes the results of various research conducted from 2019 to 2024. The literature reviewed includes both international and Indonesian studies that examine the use of interactive applications in algebra education. The results of the literature review indicate that interactive applications can significantly improve student understanding. Students using interactive applications show increased engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes compared to conventional teaching methods. Studies in Indonesia support these findings, reporting improved understanding and interest in algebra among students. These findings suggest that integrating technology into math education can be an effective strategy for enhancing student learning outcomes. Therefore, it is recommended that schools and educators consider using interactive applications as a teaching aid in algebra education.
