Abstract

The representation of gender in educational materials, particularly textbooks, has been a subject of ongoing research and discussion. Research indicates that these materials often reflect and perpetuate societal norms and biases, which can significantly influence students' perceptions of gender roles and identities. This concern is particularly relevant in language textbooks, where the portrayal of characters and scenarios can shape young learners' understanding of gender dynamics and contribute to either the reinforcement or challenge of existing stereotypes. By adopting a critical lens, educators and policymakers can work towards creating more inclusive and empowering educational resources that foster gender equity and social justice within the classroom and beyond. The analysis of the textbook images revealed a stark gender imbalance, with male characters featured significantly more often than female characters and often depicted in positions of authority, leadership, and high-status occupations, while female characters were frequently shown in domestic or supportive roles.

Abstract

The Indonesian government requires schools to implement the revised 2013 curriculum. The goal is to prepare the younger generation to be creative, innovative and critical. Integrated thematic books are incomplete in math materials, so students have difficulty understanding basic concepts. This research uses research and development methods. The goal is to produce learning media in the form of Student Worksheets (LKS) Square Flat Buildings. Based on the results of the media expert validation, it is known that the developed LKS media for Square Flat Buildings obtained a score of 77%, which means that the product is quite feasible and needs a little revision. Based on the results of the material expert, it is known that the media obtained a score of 75%, which means that the media is said to be feasible without revision. The conclusion of this study is that the media developed by researchers received positive responses from all experts, namely media experts, material experts and linguists. However, there are some notes to use this learning media. The learning media made by researchers are intended to improve the quality of learning so that students are interested and happy to follow the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the obstacles that cause learning difficulties and misconceptions faced by students of the Balitar Islamic University, especially in Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program on human rights courses. The research method used is descriptive analysis using tests and questionnaires which are expected to be able to find out the causes of learning difficulties and student misconceptions in human rights courses. The findings revealed that the greatest percentage of difficulty is found in internal factors which include difficulties in determining data analysis techniques with a percentage of 81,25% and difficulties in conducting data analysis with a percentage of 93,75%. While learning difficulties from external factors are known to have the highest percentage of difficulties adapting to the dynamics of society at 81,25%. From the results of interviews with students who experience misconceptions, it shows that students are still confused about the selection of data analysis techniques from observations and research results in the community. This is because the data obtained in the community are very diverse in form and data must be analyzed or triangulated, so that conclusions can be determined that are intact and interrelated.

Abstract

Mathematics is often perceived by students as a challenging subject due to its complicated calculations, resulting in a lack of interest. Despite the expectation that teachers should implement active learning methods, many still rely on traditional lecturing methods, leading to passivity in students. An analysis by the teacher showed that only 45% of students had completed their studies. To address this, a diverse learning approach is required, such as the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model. The study aims to evaluate how the TGT learning model can improve grade V students' learning outcomes and attitudes towards mathematics. This study used qualitative and quantitative research techniques to measure student attitudes and learning outcomes, respectively. Classroom Action Research (CAR) techniques were employed by implementing two cycles with pre-tests and post-tests. In the first cycle, student completeness was 33% in the pre-test, while in the post-test, it increased to 73%. In the second cycle, the pre-test recorded 79% completeness, which increased to 85% in the post-test. The application of the TGT cooperative learning model improved student learning outcomes in each cycle, as evidenced by the increase in student completeness. These results support the effectiveness of the TGT model in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study focuses on creating a valid and practical assessment instrument for 8th-grade Civics Education (PPKn) students in junior high schools (SMP/MTs). The research employs the Research and Development (R&D) approach, adapting the Borg & Gall model by Sugiyono. The instrument, centered on Pancasila as the foundational principle of the state and national outlook, consists of 20 multiple-choice questions derived from a well-designed question matrix and indicators. Expert validation results show high approval scores for material and language aspects from two validators. The average validation score is 82.06%, affirming the instrument's validity. Educator and student questionnaire responses demonstrate strong practicality support, with average response rates of 83.89% and 87.60%, respectively. Analysis of the 20 questions confirms 18 valid questions, 2 needing revision, establishing the instrument's reliability (reliability coefficient r11 = 0.819). Difficulty analysis reveals 16 easy and 4 moderately difficult questions. Discrimination power assessment indicates 9 adequately differentiating and 11 highly discriminative questions. The study confirms the successful development of a valid and practical assessment tool for enhancing Civics Education in junior high schools, rejecting the null hypothesis.
