Abstract

This research aims to discover how to apply the Kodály Method of instilling Children’s Musicianship. Kodály Method was initiated by Zoltan Kodály, the Hungarian music educator. The principle of Kodály is that music education should be taught from an early age, music lessons must be enjoyable and prioritize the child's voice in their activities; the songs used are songs that the children already know. The characteristics are using tonic solfa, rhythm syllables, and hand signs. The method used in this research is literature review method with a narrative systematic review analysis technique. The data come from research results obtained from google's search engine, researchgate, repository, semantic scholar, 123doc.com, the physical journal of the Kodály Music Education Institute of Australia (KMEIA) 2000-2012, and the book Kodály in the first-grade classroom. The study was conducted in Depok, West Java, from May 2021 to June 2022. A total of 16 articles related to the research topic were analyzed by making marginal notes, giving colors, categorizing by creating tables, and summarizing existing research results to be integrated and then presented with more comprehensive facts to draw conclusions. (Creswell ; Miles & Huberman 2014). This study indicates that learning activities performed by using the Kodály method can reinforce children's musicianship; can introduce tones and melodies to children, increasing the precision of pitch, sense of rhythm, dynamics, and tempo of the song. In other words, the study results show that the Kodaly method's application is excellent in instilling Children’s Musicianship.

Abstract

This research discusses the study of gambang organology in the art of Gambang Kromong through the production of the Totong version of the gambang. Gambang is a Betawi traditional musical instrument in the form of a xylophone with a special wood called Merawan wood. This study aims to examine the organology of gambang based on observations, descriptions, and analysis of the aspects involved in it. The term organology comes from the ancient Greek "organon" which means tool, or in this case the manufacture of musical instruments, and "logos" science. So in simple terms orgonology is the study or science that studies musical instruments. In the production itself there are 4 things that must be considered, namely material, manufacture, adjustment, and maintenance. This Research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive analysis method, by presenting the facts that were then followed by analysis. The method used in this study was divided into four stages, namely data collection, data processing, data analysis, and drawing conclusions. Totong is one of the gambang craftsmen in the Tangerang area. The assembly stage itself goes through several stages, namely the preparation of tools and materials, design and formation, adjustment, until entering the finishing stage. In Organology we can study and analyze the relationship between organology (construction forms and production stages) and instruments when musical performances are used, of course there will be adjustments to improve the production quality of these musical instruments.

Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of trap music intervention on bench press performance. The method used in this research is experimental type research with a crossover design and non-random sampling techniques. The sample was divided into two groups who would do bench press training while listening to trap music and without trap music. Bench press performance is measured in terms of changes in heart rate, upper arm circumference, number of repetitions and total weight that can be lifted. The data obtained were tested using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the dependent t test. The research sample consisted of twenty male people with an age range of 18-33 years. The results obtained were the mean difference in heart rate without music compared to music (24.85 ± 8.15) with a P value <0.001. The mean change in weight that can be lifted without music is compared with music (7.25 ± 2.55) with a P value <0.001. The mean change in repetitions without music compared with music (1.05 ± 0.60) with a P value <0.001. The mean change in right upper arm circumference without music was compared with music (0.27 ± 0.24) with a P value <0.001. The results obtained showed an increase in bench press performance in the group with trap music compared to the group without music. Participants who listened to trap music showed an increase in heart rate, upper arm circumference, number of repetitions and total weight lifted.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the ability to read block notation through a fixed-do system. Because in the observation of low block notation reading scores, this is evidenced by the practical assessment and pre-test in Cultural Arts learning. The research method used in this study is a classroom action research method with the Kemmis and Taggart models. Research data was collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. Then the data was analyzed using tests and field notes. The research was conducted from February 19 to May 27, 2024 in class X-I at Labschool Kebayoran with a total of 34 students. The number of students who have reached and have not reached the KKM shows an increase in the final score of student evaluation. The results of the study show that the application of the fixed-do system in an effort to improve the ability to read block notation is effective in delivering material about block notation, note value, rest value, and time signature. This method makes it easier for students to memorize the notation layout and understand the material presented because of the fun learning process. This is evident from the increase in the average score of students in each cycle, with an increase of 60.04% from pre-cycle to cycle 1 with an average score of 78.9 students, from these results there are still 11 students who have not reached the KKM. This made the researchers and collaborators decide to proceed to cycle 2. An increase of 17.99% from cycle 1 to cycle 2 with an average score of 93.1 students, from these results there are still 3 students who have not reached the KKM. The benefit of this research is to help read block notation for students.
