Abstract

Seagrass acts as a food source in supporting the productivity of the living creatures that lives sorrounds, rearing areas, and sediment filtering systems. The Village of Porto is one of the coastal villages that has a fairly extensive seagrass ecosystem. Seagrass, locally known as "lalamong" is located quite far from residential areas, but information about the condition of the seagrass is still lacking. So, this study aims to inventory the species of seagrass found there, analyze the density and attendance frequency and assess environmental parameters for seagrass growth. The research was conducted from January to March 2019. Seagrass data was collected using the linear quadratic transect method at the five stations and each station consisted of three transects. The results showed that seagrass beds in the research area consists of eight species of seagrass, namely Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichi, Halophila ovalis, Cymodocea rotundata, Cymodocea serrulata, Halodule uninervis, Halodule pinifolia and Syringodium isoetifolium. C. serrulata is the species with the highest density number, but the highest attendance frequency is represented by E. acoroides. S. isoetifolium is the species with the lowest density and attendance frequency. Station three has the highest seagrass density but has a low on attendance frequency. Water quality parameters (temperature and salinity) are suitable for seagrass in the coastal waters of Porto village.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of growth failure of a child, both body and brain, therefore stunting must be prevented. Stunting prevention was carried out through various efforts, including activity groups (Poktan). This study aims to analyze the distribution of Poktan in Maluku and its problems and to analyze the integration of Poktan in reducing stunting. The research was conducted using secondary data sourced from Representative Office of BKKBN Maluku and various relevant literature sources as well as conducting formal and informal discussions with several staff from Representative BKKBN of Maluku and with research team from Pattimura University. The results showed that the distribution of Poktan in Maluku was evenly distributed in every region, but in terms of numbers it was still uneven. The problems faced by Poktan in Maluku include the lack of facilities and infrastructure of internet-based communication and transportation to support the implementation of Poktan functions, the number of assistants was still lacking, and the awareness of Poktan officers or assistants on the importance of data was still low. Poktan integration has taken place but needs to be improved so that it is better for supporting the reduction of stunting in Maluku. In addition, it requires cooperation between various parties from the government, the private sector, universities, the community, and various of mass media.

Abstract

Mackerl scad, is an economically important small pelagic fish species in the waters of Ternate Island which is exploited by fishermen with various types of active fishing gear such as purse seine, bagan and gill net. The use of fishing gear that is less selective with fishing activities throughout the year and not equipped with utilization regulations, is expected to cause pressure on skipjack stocks in the waters of Ternate Island. . This research is a type of empirical research carried out using the experimental fishing method, in which the researcher participates in fishing activities for 120 trips and samples of the fish caught are taken for the measurement process in the Lab. Processing of Fishery Products for 5 months, from October 2022 to March 2023. The results showed that the condition of the flyfish population parameter in Ternate Island waters was relatively stable with a maximum length value of 33.49 cm, a growth coefficient of 0.99 per month, fishing mortality 0.42, natural mortality 1.71 , the exploitation rate is 0.2 and the SPR is 42% and the recruitment value is Y/R 1.9% and B/R 56.8%. Where from these results indicate the need for an increase in fishing effort until the exploitation value reaches 0.4 for optimal and sustainable management.

Abstract

Increasing the exploitation of anchovy resources is generally done by predicting the fishing area, because anchovy is a small pelagic species and is a neritic resource which is strongly influenced by oceanographic factors in its distribution. Therefore this study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the distribution of sea surface temperature in relation to the catch of anchovies in the waters of Dodinga Bay. This research uses the experimental fishing method by analyzing data in the form of catch data, catch position plot data and sea surface temperature data which is analyzed with geographic information system analysis and statistical analysis which is expected to answer the research objectives. The results showed that the condition of the sea surface temperature distribution during the study was quite fluctuating, ranging from 37.4 oC - 30.0 oC, with anchovy CPUE values in the range of 76.5 - 564.0 kg/trip and these two variables have a close relationship with the regression equation formed. y = -0.876x + 6.9243 with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.845 and the highest catches are in the temperature range of 27.6 - 29.8 oC. The results of this study are preliminary information so that in an effort to manage anchovy to an optimum level it is necessary to carry out field validation.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to determine the average distribution of SST, chlorophyll-a, and see surface currents, and analyze the relationship between them with pelagic fish catches as an analysis material for determining pelagic fishing area in Banten’s Southern Sea. Data collected includes SST and chlorophyll-a using Aqua MODIS images data and and see surface currents data from Copernicus Marine Data for 6 years. The data was processed to produce the value of each parameter and then analyzed the parameters with the catches and determine the potential pelagic fishing area. The results showed that the SST throughout 2016 had a relatively high value allegedly due to the negative Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). During the eastern until the end of second transitional season in 2019 there was a positive IOD which caused SST to decrease and chlorophyll-a to be larger than in other fishing seasons. See surface currents in the western season tend to be larger than in other fishing seasons. SST and chlorophyll-a have a stronger relationship with catches than see surface currents. The potential fishing area are around Tanjung Mantiyung, Muara Binuangeun, dan Tanjung Panto.

Abstract

Eco port is a predicate of a port that has implemented systematic efforts or steps to build and maintain an environmentally friendly port area. Poor sanitation and hygiene conditions such as large amounts of waste from fishing port activities can cause environmental pollution and affect public health. This research aims to determine public perception towards the management of the Fish Landing Place (TPI) of Karangantu in accordance with the principle of eco fishing port. Primary data was obtained through observations in July-August 2022 on ship unloading activities until the transaction process at Karangantu TPI. Interviews with Karangantu Archipelagic Fishing Port (PPN) employees, TPI managers and TPI service users were conducted to find out each stakeholder's perception of environmental sanitation conditions and hygiene of fish catches. Secondary data were obtained from various publications available in Karangantu PPN. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively (tables and graphs) and quantitatively (Likert scale). The results showed that the management of Karangantu TPI is in accordance with the eco port principle. However, the public considers that the parameters of liquid waste handling and the quality of fish catches landed at TPI Karangantu must be improved.

Abstract

Problems with the operation of the hand line are that the fishing line is often entangled, fishermen are tired from going up and down the line and the large size of the tuna fish requires extra effort. The aim of the study was to find out whether the line hauler tool can solve problems in the operation of tuna handlines. Research time September to November 2022 in Sorong City. Catch data collection was carried out during research activities, the research method used experimental fishing. Experimental fishing was carried out with 2 treatments, namely control fishing line and handline with a line hauler for 16 trips/day. Control handlines had a total catch of 161 individuals, while handlines with line haulers had a total catch of 196 individuals. The results of the t test show that the use of the line hauler has an effect on the number of fishing gear settings. The effectiveness of the assistive devices can be seen from the different houling times between control lures and handlines with assistive devices, this time difference affects the number of settings produced during fishing gear operation, where the use of assistive devices results in a total of 196 settings and without tools 161 times setting. So the use of tools provides opportunities to get more fish compared to without tools. The value of the effectiveness of the use of assistive devices is 18%.
