Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Arabic language environment as a strategic model for developing the communicative competence of students in Islamic boarding schools. The research focuses on the role of linguistic discipline in daily interactions and the effectiveness of structured and cultural language practices in shaping students’ Arabic-speaking behavior. Using a qualitative descriptive design with an ecological linguistic perspective, data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis involving school leaders, language coordinators, teachers, supervisors, and students. Thematic analysis was employed to identify implementation patterns, disciplinary mechanisms, communicative achievements, and contextual challenges. The findings show that the Arabic language environment functions as a cultural-linguistic system integrating structured discipline such as language zones, monitoring, corrective measures, and regular evaluation with everyday language practices supported by teacher modeling, peer interaction, and routine activities. Linguistic discipline significantly enhances students’ fluency, accuracy, confidence, and vocabulary development. Despite its effectiveness, implementation faces challenges related to teacher competence, inconsistent language use, limited facilities, and diverse student backgrounds.

Abstract

Competency certification ensures vocational quality but encounters hurdles during curriculum shifts. This study analyzes the challenges and readiness of implementing competency certification in the Visual Communication Design (DKV) program at SMKN Tutur during its transition from Multimedia. Employing a descriptive qualitative case study, data were collected via interviews, observations, and documentation from the LSP Head, assessors, teachers, and students selected through purposive sampling. The analysis utilized an interactive model involving data condensation and verification. The results indicate that while the "Content Creator" scheme yielded a 97.2% graduation rate, critical challenges persist regarding limited equipment specifications, assessor unpreparedness for new standards, and instrument misalignment with the curriculum. It is concluded that optimal certification requires synchronizing assessment tools with industrial needs and upgrading human resource capacity, as current institutional support acts only as a temporary buffer against infrastructure deficits.

Abstract

Misconceptions in geometric optics are a fundamental problem in physics education, particulary among pre-service teachers responsible for transmitting scientific concepts. Previous studies have mainly focuseed on general misconseptions and rarely integrated gender and school origin variables into a comprehensive analysis, especially in the context of pre-service physics teachers. This study aims to map the profile of understanding and misconceptions of geometric optics among pre-service teachers, while also examining differences based on gender and school origin. The method used is quantitative descriptive, involving 37 Physics Education students. Data were collected using a Four-Tier Diagnostic Test and analyzed through concept percentages and difference tests (t-test and Mann–Whitney). Results indicate that 66.14% of students were in the concept understanding category, while 19.86% had strong misconceptions, especially on the subconcept of concave mirrors. Descriptively, female students and students from urban areas showed higher understanding than male students and students from rural areas, although no statistically significant differences were found. These results expand the literature on optical misconceptions by revealing conceptual patterns influenced by students' background characteristics. These results highlight the need for adaptive learning strategies, including visual-spatial approaches and interactive simulations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Educaplay interactive media on the Mathematics learning outcomes of first-grade students at SDN Karanganyar 1. The background of this study is the low understanding of students' mathematical concepts due to conventional learning that is less interesting and has not been integrated with technology. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one group pretest–posttest design. The research subjects were 27 students who were given a pretest to measure initial abilities, then received treatment in the form of learning using Educaplay media, and then a posttest to measure improvements in learning outcomes. Data were collected through observation, testing, and documentation, then analyzed using a normality test and a paired sample t-test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed an increase in the average score from 73.9 in the pretest to 82.9 in the posttest. The paired sample t-test produced a Sig. Value (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05 indicating a significant difference between the scores before and after treatment. Thus, Educaplay interactive media has been proven effective in improving students' learning outcomes in mathematical arithmetic operations and is able to encourage active involvement and students' learning motivation.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the Multatuli Museum in teaching anticolonial history and culture as part of Banten society's identity. The museum, established in 2018 in Rangkasbitung, Lebak Regency, faced initial controversy due to its association with a Dutch colonial figure. Using qualitative methods including observation, interviews, and document analysis, this research investigates how the museum addressed community rejection, the narratives presented through its programs (2018-2020), and strategies for overcoming exhibition space limitations. Findings reveal that the museum employed persuasive and educational approaches to gain acceptance, establishing itself as a center for enhancing historical and cultural literacy. Through non-public programs, public programs, and collaborative initiatives such as the Multatuli Arts Festival, symposiums, and heritage tours, the museum created immersive educational experiences. To address spatial constraints, the museum innovatively utilized virtual platforms, including augmented reality and its official website. This study confirms the Multatuli Museum's significant role as an information and learning center for anticolonial history and culture, integral to Banten's identity formation.

Abstract

Many elementary school students, especially fourth graders, still experience difficulties in understanding the concept of multiplication. This is influenced by the use of conventional learning methods that tend to be less interesting, thus reducing learning motivation and causing students to be less active in the mathematics learning process. This study aims to describe the difficulties in learning multiplication and the implementation of game-based learning media using the Wordwall application in improving student understanding. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with subjects of fourth grade students of Muhammadiyah Elementary School Tanjungpinang in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that Wordwall is able to increase students' enthusiasm, activeness, and understanding in multiplication through fun interactive exercises. Thus, Wordwall is an effective alternative learning media to overcome difficulties in learning multiplication in elementary school students.

Abstract

Empathy is vital for overcoming global challenges, such as humanitarian emergencies, political conflicts, violence, and other behavioral issues. Behaviors that reflect a lack of empathy include bullying, corruption, intolerance, radicalism, and violence—actions rooted in failing to consider others' perspectives. Between 2011 and 2019, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) received at least 37,381 bullying reports. Empathy indicates achievement of 21st-century competencies, namely critical reasoning, creativity, communication, and collaboration. Low empathy undermines efforts to build communication and collaboration skills. This study develops reflective narrative history learning to enhance empathy and 21st-century skills. Using the Research & Development (R&D) method and the 4-D instructional development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), 21 history teachers and 1,000 high school students in Banjarmasin City participated. Data were collected through interviews, a learning preferences questionnaire, and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) to gauge students' empathy levels. Qualitative data were analyzed interactively, and quantitative data were analyzed with statistical tests. Results show that reflective narrative history learning effectively develops students' empathic concern.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the instructional leadership of the principal in improving teachers’ pedagogical competence at SD Negeri 2 Tulakan. A qualitative approach was employed to explore in depth the principal’s instructional leadership practices, which include defining the school mission, supervising and evaluating instruction, promoting professional development and maintaining high visibility. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, then analyzed thematically to identify leadership patterns and their contribution to the enhancement of teachers’ pedagogical competence. The findings reveal that the principal has implemented instructional. These practices significantly contribute to the improvement of teachers’ pedagogical competence, although several challenges remain, such as limited resources, resistance from some teachers, and restricted time for instructional supervision. This study recommends the need for continuous leadership training, strengthened coordination between the principal and teachers, and the development of a more effective supervision system to optimize the implementation of instructional leadership in primary schools.

Abstract

Interpretation important to help students understand the meaning behind information. With this ability, students can assess, interpret, and connect concepts more deeply.  this research aims to describe the cultivation of categorization in IPAS learning at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, to describe the cultivation of decoding significance in IPAS learning at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, to explore the cultivation of clarifying meaning in IPAS learning at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Type of research: qualitative-ethnographic. Data collection: observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data validity through triangulation of sources and methods. Interactive data analysis. The results of the study indicate that cultivating categorization through strategies, stimuli, and feedback effectively trains students group information, although some are still passive due to differences in experience and motivation. Cultivating the decoding significance with trigger questions, problems, and environmental and inquiry approaches helps students explain concepts in their own words, although some still rely on memorization and need reinforcement through discussion. Cultivating the clarifying of meaning through open questions, re-explanations, and feedback increases student participation, although the skills of comparing information and distinguishing facts from opinions still need to be improved. The cultivation of interpretation in IPAS learning at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah has been implemented and proven to improve student understanding and participation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of school leadership in enhancing the professional competence of teachers at SD Negeri 2 Tubanan, Jepara. The findings indicate that the leadership of the principal significantly contributes to the improvement of teachers' professional competence through effective supervision, motivation, and the provision of continuous professional development opportunities. The principal’s role as a supervisor involves regular classroom visits, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring teachers have the resources and support they need to improve. Furthermore, the principal fosters a collaborative environment by encouraging teachers to participate in relevant training programs, thus enhancing their pedagogical skills. However, challenges such as time constraints for training, the integration of technology in teaching, and the motivation of some teachers to participate in professional development programs remain. This study highlights the importance of principal leadership in promoting professional growth and its direct impact on the overall quality of education. It also offers practical insights for future educational leadership practices.
