Abstract

Multicultural education is a blessing in disguise for Indonesian pluralism because it promotes diversity and harmony in embroidery. The realization of human and democratic values in it leads to continuity in spreading social piety, universal wisdom, and civilized life. The purpose of this research is to see Aziumardi Azra's thoughts about multicultural education so that the clouds and cloudy skies of education can be opened. At the same time, this paper is dedicated to the extended family of Azyumardi Azra as a teacher of an intellectual multicultural nation. This research is a qualitative research, library research using a philosophical histories approach. The results of the study show that: 1) Azyumardi Azra views multicultural education as an awareness of the recognition and acceptance of diversity as a sunnatullah which should be a pillar of unity. He is so firm in his optimistic foundation to fight for equality, social justice, democracy, tolerance, inclusivity, equality, pluralism, and rule of law for Indonesian people; 2) The application of multicultural education to the history of the Indonesian nation needs to be raised again which was broken by monoculturalism; 3) Multicultural education is the main tool as a media meeting point for a multicultural world nation to prevent social chaos and escapism. 4) Indonesia with all its diversity is a good country because many of its meeting points are based on four foundations, namely Pancasila, NKRI, Unity in Diversity, and the 1945 Constitution. This research is optimistic to simplify the interaction or influence of multicultural values, Indonesian values, and Islamic values on forms of acceptance in Indonesian education

Abstract

Understanding the Qur'an is the main factor for the sustainability of the way of life of Muslims and the religion of Islam because Muslims are not only Arabs but also from other nations or are called 'jam (foreigners) outside of Arabia, as well as more and more people. The complex and religious problems of the ummah are due to cultural acculturation and the rapid development of science which is one of the main factors. The method of translating the Qur'an with differences of opinion is still one solution to understanding it, so the translation of the Qur'an slightly reduces the problem of understanding related to the text of the verse in it, although it is still something that cannot be decipher the deep meaning associated with the purposes hidden in it.

Abstract

The development of any society to a large extent depends on the degree of the security of lives and property of the citizens. A secure environment encourages intellectuals who are the drivers of nation-building; it also ensures national development. In recent years, Nigeria has been witnessing serious security threats that seem to have overwhelmed the nation’s security network and this has slowed down development in the country. This paper in light if these present realities, examined how technological innovations such as the integration of proper Information Communication Technology (ICT) resolve the emerging security threats bedeviling the country.  Integrating ICT in the humanities can help increase the rate of development in the country and also help resolve the emerging security threats bedeviling the country. Data for the paper was derived from a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) conducted via WhatsApp with fifteen selected academic staff who are in the humanities at the University of Jos. The data collected formed the basis of the discussion in the paper. The theoretical framework adopted is Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) because it explains how technology can be utilized in language learning and evidently in the humanities to resolve challenging issues. The paper discovered that the humanities have not been fully integrated with ICT and have also not been effectively utilized in the quest for advancing development in Nigeria and resolving security challenges. The paper recommended amongst others the full integration of ICT in the humanities to expand the scope of the field to be utilized in resolving security challenges in the country.

Abstract

Islamic scholarship was born out of concern for modern Western science that deviated from the spirit of the Renaissance which initially aimed to humanize humans, instead, there was dehumanization and secularization. Islamic scholarship also intends to respond to the idea of the Islamization of science, which is seen as a textualization, that is, to make Western sciences in harmony with Islam. The objectives of this study is to: Know the biography of Ismail Raji Al Faruqi as a Muslim scholar; 2). Knowing the Islamization of Science Ismail Raji al-Faruqi; 3). Knowing the thoughts of Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi's Islamic education curriculum. Islam Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi (1921 – 1986 A.D.), was born in Jaffa, a city on the   Palestinian coast (now Israel). Al-Faruqi was born on January 1, 1921, to a distinguished family and upheld the teachings of Islam, Al-Faruqi grew up in Palestine and inherited the strong character of the Palestinian Arab tradition that persistently fought for his nation to liberate it from Israeli occupation. So that his mind is firmly bound to Palestine and experiences firsthand the tragedy felt by the Palestinian people. Al-Farruqi, once a governor in Palestine, was also a visiting Professor in various countries, al-Faruqi had been educated in various countries, including Palestine itself, America, Canada Egypt al-Faraqi was killed in his home with his wife Louis Lamya and two children in 1986. Islamization is al-Faruqi's solution to change the education system in accordance with Islamic ideals that Muslims have long abandoned and the system and education system adopted by Muslims from the West is one that endangers the Islamic spirit by separating revelation from reason. The concept of the Islamic curriculum that Al-Faruqi wanted was a curriculum that developed the traditional system (Islam) and the modern system (West) by adjusting the vision of Islam. Al-Faruqi aims to blend both the Islamic system and the Western system and eliminate the shortcomings of both systems.
