Jurnal Bastra (Bahasa dan Sastra)
JOURNAL BASTRA (Language and Literature) is a publicly accessible journal published by the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Halu Oleo University. This journal is published four times a year, every January, April, July, and October. This journal contains the results of research (field or literature studies), theoretical studies, and critical studies covering several areas of study as follows. Indonesian language education includes studies on linguistic learning, phonology learning, morphology learning, syntax learning, semantic learning, pragmatics learning, discourse learning, sociolinguistic learning, and psycholinguistic learning. Indonesian literature education includes studies on poetry learning, fiction prose learning, and drama and film learning. Indonesian, includes studies on linguistics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics. Indonesian literature includes studies on poetry, prose fiction, drama, and film with a structural approach, stylistics, semiotics, sociology of literature, psychology of literature, psychoanalysis, literary ecology, deconstruction, philology, phenomenology, feminism, literary reception, and literary anthropology.

Poetry is a type of literary work. One of the writing skills that students must master is presenting ideas, feelings, and opinions in the form of poetry text, written or orally, paying attention to the building blocks of poetry. Several studies show that the ability to write poetry is relatively low. One solution that can be done is to apply a learning technique that can improve students' poetry writing abilities. One of them is the peer-correction technique. This research aims to determine the ability of class VIII students at Jambi Medan Private Middle School before and after using the peer-correction technique, to assess the effect of peer-correction on their ability to write poetry. The method used is a quasi-experiment (Quasi Experiment). This research uses normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests. The research results show that students' ability to write poetry texts after applying the peer-correction technique is included in the perfect category, the application of the Peer-Correction learning technique has a positive effect on increasing the ability to write poetry texts. As previously stated, the average score for the ability to write poetry texts before using the Peer-Correction model (pre-test) is in the poor category, namely 58.50, while the average score for the ability to write poetry texts after using the Peer-Correction technique (post-test) classified in the good category, namely 79.33. It can be concluded that peer-correction learning techniques have a significant effect on the ability to write poetry texts.

The aim of this research is to describe the values of the characters' struggles and reveal the story in the novel Dompet Ayah Shoes Ibu by J.S Khairen. The benefit of this research is that it provides readers with an understanding to always be active in reading and understanding the values of struggle displayed in literary works. The data used in this research is the novel Dompet Ayah Shoes Ibu by J.S Khaien. The data source in this research is the novel Dompet Ayah Shoes Ibu by J.S Khairen. The data collection technique in this research uses a sociological approach to literary works, which is to question the content and objectives as well as things implied in the literary work itself and is related to social problems and what the purpose or message is to be conveyed. The purpose of this research is to describe the ability to write procedural texts of the 11th grade students of SMA Al-Qur’an Wahdah Islamiyah Kendari. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. This type of research falls into the category of field research. It is called field research because the researcher goes directly to the school where the research is conducted. Based on the results and analysis conducted, it can be concluded that out of 46 students in the 11th grade of SMA Al-Qur’an Wahdah Islamiyah Kendari, individually, 35 students (76.98%) are categorized as capable, and 11 students (23.91%) are categorized as not yet capable of writing procedural texts. This can be seen from the students' scores in the research. The structure of the procedural text includes: goal (100%), steps (95.65%), reaffirmation (91.30%). The linguistic features of procedural texts include: imperative verbs (95.65%), additive conjunctions (100%), persuasive statements (65.21%), technical terms (17.39%), tool descriptions (4.34%).

This research aims to identify the forms of meaning based on semiotic lexicons according to Roland Barthes, using Roland Barthes' codes, as well as the use of these codes to uncover the meaning in the novel Limitless by Nadhira Afifa. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a type of library research. The data source for this research is the novel Limitless by Nadhira Afifa, consisting of 232 pages, published by Mediakita in 2021. The data collection technique involves reading and taking notes, while the data analysis technique employs descriptive analysis. The novel Limitless by Nadhira Afifa depicts the sweet and bitter journey of Nadhira Afifa in achieving her dreams. Armed with hard work and a strong desire, Nadhira proves her abilities and successfully fulfills her dreams one by one. The result of this research seeks to find the meanings contained in the novel written by Nadhira Afifa through Roland Barthes' semiotic codes, which include five codes: hermeneutic code, connotative code, symbolic code, action code, and cultural code. The total amount of data reaches 72 pieces.

This study aims to apply the STAD type cooperative learning model in improving the understanding of the contents of descriptive texts in class XI students of SMA Negeri 21 Jakarta. The research method used is Classroom Action Research consisting of three cycles with four stages according to Stephen Kemmis and Robyn McTaggart, namely planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Student Teams Achievement Division type cooperative learning model in the learning process of each cycle can improve the understanding of class XI students of SMA Negeri 21 Jakarta regarding the contents of the descriptive text. This is indicated by an increase in the average value of students from 62.77 in cycle I, 72.92 in cycle II, and 86.61 in cycle III. Thus, students have achieved the learning objective of understanding the contents of the descriptive text well. In addition, based on the results of observations, it shows that students are more actively involved in the learning process, such as students are more actively involved in answering or asking questions, enthusiastic in following the learning process, and participating in working together as a team.

The problem in this study is how is the ability to write description texts for grade VII students of SMP Negeri 4 Kambowa? The purpose of this study is to describe the ability to write description texts of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 4 Kambowa. The type of research used in this study is field research, and the method used in this study is quantitative descriptive. The sampling technique in this study uses a total sampling technique, the sample is taken as much as the total population so that it involves all students in grade VII of SMP Negeri 4 Kambowa totaling 29 students. The instrument used in this study is a writing test, which is the ability to write descriptive texts based on the structure of descriptive texts and the use of language. Based on the results of the study, of the 29 students who participated in the study, 34, 48% were classified as capable and there were 65, 51% classified as indigent, here are the details of the percentage of completion criteria; (a) Students who have acquired excellent skills in writing descriptive texts amounted to 2 students or 6.89% (b) Students who acquired good skills in writing descriptive texts amounted to 5 students or 17.24% (c) Students who acquired sufficient ability in writing descriptive texts amounted to 3 students or 10.34% (d) Students who acquired the ability to need guidance in writing descriptive texts amounted to 19 students or 65, 51%.

Research entitled "Typology of Personality Characters in the novel Tulisan Sastra by Tenderlova'". This research aims to reveal the typology and determining factors of character personality types in the novel Tulisan Sastra by Tenderlova. The personality types are based on personality values according to Edward Spranger and the determining factors of personality types according to Hurlock's opinion. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and is classified as a type of library research. The data in this research is in the form of novel text. The data analysis technique uses a literary psychology approach. Based on the research results, it is known that in the novel Written Literature by Tenderlova there are scientific (theoretical) type people, economist type people, aesthetic or artistic type people, social type people, and religious type people. The factors determining personality type contained in the novel Literary Writings by Tenderlova are, initial experience, physical condition, success and failure, family influence, and level of adjustment. So this research can broaden insight and develop knowledge about literary research. Apart from that, readers are also expected to know about the existence of various theories in the world of literature which are used as literary research tools. For the world of formal education, we hope that this research can be useful for teaching literature regarding the teachings of personality typology of characters in the novel Tulisan Sastra by Tenderlova. For other researchers, there are still many alternative studies that can be carried out on the personality typology of characters in the novel Tulisan Sastra by Tenderlova.

This study aims to describe the ability to write advertisements in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 5 Kendari. This study is classified as field research, which is carried out directly at SMP Negeri 5 Kendari as the object of research to collect data in accordance with the problems in this study. The population in this study were all class VIII students of SMP Negeri 5 Kendari with a total of 372 students consisting of 11 classes. The sample in this study was 158 with a 10% error rate. The sampling technique used was Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling, which is sampling by sorting student learning achievement from the highest to the lowest based on daily test scores. The data collection technique used in this study was by giving an advertisement writing test. The results showed data from 158 respondents, there were 50 respondents (31.64%) included in the category of being able to write advertisements and there were 108 respondents (68.35%) included in the category of not being able to write advertisements. Classically, it can be classified that the ability to write advertisements of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 5 Kendari is included in the category of not yet capable because it reaches 31.64% and has not exceeded the classical achievement criteria set, namely 85%.

This research aims to develop teaching materials for review texts assisted by VlogNow media for class XI SMA. This teaching material is expected to help students in following the learning process in class. This research is a development research (RnD) that uses Borg and Gall research procedures. The product developed from this research is teaching material for review texts in the form of learning videos assisted by VlogNow media for grade XI SMA. The subjects of this development research include material expert validators, media expert validators, subject teachers, and students of grade XI of Methodist-12 Medan Private High School. The data collection techniques used were the distribution of needs analysis questionnaires, structured interviews with subject teachers, and feasibility validation of the products developed. The research instruments used were student needs analysis questionnaire, material expert validation, media expert validation, and subject teacher validation. The results of this study indicate that the products developed are already in very good qualifications with a value from the material expert validator of 92%, media expert validator of 83%, and subject teacher of 88%. An average score of 88% was obtained, so it can be concluded that the product in this study is very suitable for use by students in learning.

This study aims to identify the influence of the use of comic media on the ability to analyze characters in fantasy stories in grade VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Kendari. In this study, the ex post facto method and sample drawing technique were used, namely Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. The instruments used are questionnaires and written tests. Based on the results of the analysis of the research data, it is known that there is a significant positive influence between the use of Comic Media on learning outcomes in the form of the Ability to Analyze Characters in Fantasy Stories of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Kendari. The results of the hypothesis test show that the significance value (Sig.) is 0.002. When compared to the value of α = 0.05, then 0.002 < 0.05, which means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. If viewed from the tcount value, a value of 3.157 > ttable 1.985 is obtained, which means ha is accepted and h0 is rejected so it can be concluded that the variable of influence on the use of comic media (X) affects the variable of learning outcomes (Y). This can also be seen from the results of the determination coefficient test which revealed the contribution of the Use of Comic Media of 9.5%. Although the contribution given is still very low, if the learning process that takes place is further improved by paying attention to various factors that can affect students' analytical skills, the influence on learning outcomes can increase.
