This study aims to describe and analyze the stages of the kasampu ritual for women in Kambowa District, North Buton Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews. Informants were determined using a snowball sampling technique, involving three key informants, namely the bisa (ritual guide), the imam, and parents who organized the kasampu ritual, supported by additional informants from the ritual participants. Data analysis was conducted using source triangulation to ensure data validity. The findings indicate that the kasampu ritual consists of three main stages: (1) the preparation stage, which includes family deliberation, committee formation, scheduling, and preparation of ritual equipment; (2) the implementation stage, which involves the seclusion process and a series of rituals such as kapoluku, kahombo, kabhansule, kalengka, and kawiwiki as a means of moral, spiritual, and ethical guidance for women; and (3) the final stage, marked by the kapolantono kakuba and kabadakino kabere ceremonies, symbolizing physical and spiritual purification as well as the formal recognition of participants as adult women. The kasampu ritual functions as a form of character education based on local cultural values and as an effort to preserve the traditions of the Kambowa community.

This study examines the characteristics of dark humor in the dialogues of the series The End of The F***ing World, directed by Jonathan Entwisle. Employing a pragmatic approach (Yule, 1996), Attardo’s (1994) General Theory of Verbal Humor (GTVH), and Grice’s (1975) theory of maxim violations, the study investigates how dark humor operates within character interactions. Dark humor is defined as a form of aggressive humor that derives amusement from taboo or sensitive subjects, often serving as both emotional release and social commentary. Data were collected from dialogues and analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods. The findings indicate that character interactions frequently feature hyperbolic and social dark humor to comment on extreme or socially sensitive situations, while deadpan and cynical humor conveys acceptance, resignation, and coping in stressful or unconventional circumstances. Pragmatically, these forms of dark humor serve multiple functions: they act as coping mechanisms, provide social commentary, and allow the expression of complex emotions, such as frustration, empathy, and resignation, in ways that are mutually understood within interactions but may appear ambiguous to outsiders. Overall, the study suggests that dark humor in the series functions not merely as entertainment but as a strategic communicative tool, enabling characters to manage emotional tension, navigate sensitive social issues, and reflect on social and psychological dimensions of their experiences.

The growing emphasis on contextualized and learner-centered pedagogy has heightened interest in authentic assessment in language education. However, systematic reviews focusing specifically on Indonesian language learning remain scarce. This systematic review analyzes research on authentic assessment in language learning, with particular attention to its application in Indonesian language education contexts. Following PRISMA guidelines, we conducted a comprehensive search across Scopus, ERIC, and Google Scholar databases, identifying 10 empirical and conceptual studies published between 2015-2025. The TCCM (Theory, Context, Characteristics, Methodology) framework guided the analysis. Thematic synthesis revealed three major trajectories: (1) a pedagogical shift from summative to formative and authentic evaluation; (2) the transformative influence of digital technologies, including AI and mobile-assisted learning; and (3) the growing emphasis on sociocultural and intercultural dimensions. Authentic assessment functions not only as a measurement tool but also as a pedagogical process fostering metacognition, collaboration, and inclusivity. This review offers a novel integrative perspective linking authenticity, technology, and sociocultural context within an ecological framework. The findings highlight the need for culturally responsive and ethically grounded digital assessment practices in Indonesian language education.

This study aims to analyze the personality types of the main character in the short story Syaikh Balbis by Taufiq al-Hakim. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method using the Hippocrates–Gallenus literary psychology personality type theory as its analytical approach. This study uses written data found in Taufiq al-Hakim’s short story Syaikh Balbis, which demonstrates the compatibility of the main character’s personality type with the Hippocrates–Gallenus perspective. The data collection methods used in this study include reading and note-taking techniques, library research, close reading, and manual coding. The data were analyzed using data analysis techniques consisting of identification, analysis, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study indicate that four personality types according to Hippocrates—sanguine, choleric, melancholic, and phlegmatic—are present in the characters of Taufiq al-Hakim’s short story Syaikh Balbis. The researcher hopes that this study may serve as a reference for future research related to the Hippocrates–Gallenus literary psychology theory.

This study aims to reveal the similarities and differences in the theme of longing in Ummi by Maher Zain and Jasa Poma by Rafly Kande. The study is motivated by the discovery of these two songs, which share a similar meaning of “mother” expressed in two different languages. The research method applied in this study is a qualitative method. The data collection strategy uses the reading and note-taking technique. The data were analyzed using descriptive and comparative techniques to draw conclusions. The results of the study indicate that both songs share similarities in the elements of longing, particularly the longing for a mother’s love, a mother’s prayers, and devotion to the mother. Meanwhile, the differences lie in the cultural backgrounds: Jasa Poma is rooted in Acehnese culture, while Ummi is based on Middle Eastern culture. Furthermore, Jasa Poma belongs to the genre of Acehnese socio-religious poetry, while Ummi represents contemporary music, which influences the message delivered in both songs. The study also finds the portrayal of the mother figure in Ummi. Both Ummi and Jasa Poma possess unique characteristics as original literary works.
