This research analyzes the personality of the characters in The Pearl by John Steinbeck using Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalytic Theory (id, ego, and superego). Through qualitative methods and text analysis, it was found that Kino's id drives impulsive and aggressive actions in defending the pearl, while the ego attempts to channel these desires in a more realistic direction. The superego, which plays a role in maintaining morality, is often overshadowed by materialistic impulses. The conflict between Kino's id, ego, and superego reflects the struggle between personal ambition and moral values in human life.

This paper discusses English education for young learners (English for Young Learners – EYL). A person's ability to use English is highly essential in line with a nation's progress. Therefore, English education as an international language is now being introduced as early as possible to students in Indonesia. English education is ideally started from an early age, especially before they reach the age of 12. Early childhood refers to children aged 2–7 years. This age range is considered the golden period for language development. At this stage, children can learn any language like native speakers, making it crucial to maximize this period effectively. However, young children are still in the preoperational cognitive development stage, characterized by high egocentrism, an inability to understand abstract concepts, reliance on symbols, and pre-logical thinking. Therefore, EYL requires appropriate and effective teaching methods and processes. Several methods and techniques are suitable for teaching English to young learners, particularly in communicative contexts, including social and cultural situations, games, songs and music, storytelling, artistic experiences, crafts, and activities that emphasize physical movement. Among these methods and techniques, the approach using songs, singing, and movement has proven to be highly suitable and effective in English education for young learners

This study aims to determine the improvement of elementary school children's literacy through the GLS (School Literacy Movement) program. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach that aims to describe the findings of researchers on several scientific journal articles found according to the topic of discussion so that the results of the discussion are obtained. The results showed that the GLS program has a positive impact on improving the literacy skills of elementary school children through three stages in its implementation, namely the habituation stage, the development stage and the learning stage. The GLS program encourages students to participate in active reading activities, such as reading books outside formal lessons. GLS succeeds in attracting students' attention to read more through the provision of interesting reading books, such as illustrated stories, educational comics, and other reading materials that are appropriate for their age. With the routine implementation of the GLS program, it can provide an increase in reading and writing skills, as well as the growth of interest in reading, especially among elementary school children.

This study analyzes the narrative in Tempo's coverage of the "Indonesia Gelap" issue using Teun A. van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis theory. The purpose of this research is to reveal how media discourse shapes representations of national conditions depicted through uncertainty, injustice, and weak legal supremacy. This study employs a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach, using primary data consisting of narratives in Tempo's news reports, complemented by a review of relevant literature. The analysis is conducted on three levels—macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure—which shows that the news coverage highlights public dissatisfaction and the success of protest actions, while the government strives to shift the narrative toward national optimism and progress. The results of this study indicate that the language strategies used not only reflect the underlying ideology and power relations but also serve as a tool to shape public opinion. It is expected that this research will contribute to the development of Critical Discourse Analysis theory and deepen the understanding of the role of media in constructing socio-political realities.
