Jurnal Bastra (Bahasa dan Sastra)
JOURNAL BASTRA (Language and Literature) is a publicly accessible journal published by the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Halu Oleo University. This journal is published four times a year, every January, April, July, and October. This journal contains the results of research (field or literature studies), theoretical studies, and critical studies covering several areas of study as follows. Indonesian language education includes studies on linguistic learning, phonology learning, morphology learning, syntax learning, semantic learning, pragmatics learning, discourse learning, sociolinguistic learning, and psycholinguistic learning. Indonesian literature education includes studies on poetry learning, fiction prose learning, and drama and film learning. Indonesian, includes studies on linguistics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics. Indonesian literature includes studies on poetry, prose fiction, drama, and film with a structural approach, stylistics, semiotics, sociology of literature, psychology of literature, psychoanalysis, literary ecology, deconstruction, philology, phenomenology, feminism, literary reception, and literary anthropology.

Sundanese traditional houses have their own peculiarities in architecture and philosophical values that are very meaningful, such as the traditional house in Naga Village. Naga Village still maintains the typical Sundanese traditional architecture in its buildings, by having a very unique architecture. Thus, this study has the objectives to: (1) describe the traditional house of Kampung Naga, (2) describe the lexicon of tools and materials of traditional houses of Kampung Naga, and (3) describe the lexicon of the construction of traditional houses of Kampung Naga Village. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to describe the findings of the architectural lexicon of traditional houses in Naga Village. Research data was obtained through observation, interview, documentation, and literature study methods. Furthermore, the data was analyzed using interpretation techniques by sorting out data according to the research subject in the form of traditional houses in Naga Village. The results of the study found that the traditional house of Kampung Naga was built in the form of a stage to adapt to the hilly geographical conditions and have high humidity. The shape and construction of the house are determined by customary rules, a certain time, and harmony with nature. In its construction, tools and materials are obtained from the surrounding nature. Traditional houses are built in cooperation by the community. However, there is a special craftsman named Dulah who has special skills. After conducting the analysis, the researcher found twelve lexicons of tools and materials of the Naga Village traditional house, including: bedog, tatah, palu kai, di-pen, bendo, and others . As for the lexicon of the building of the Naga Village traditional house, there are six lexicons consisting of golodog, goah, kolong, panggangsao, pawon, and suhunan.

Examining the significance of human interaction with God and others in the novel Wesel Pos by Ratih Kumala, this research seeks to explain and interpret literary criticism. This research uses a qualitative approach in the form of a text study, examining literary works through the lens of literary anthropology with an emphasis on social and religious context. The novel Wesel Pos is the source of data for this study; excerpts from the book that include social and theological backgrounds are used. The data collection techniques used were reading, listening, noting, and evaluating. Social criticism of human habits and interactions with God and others in social life is found in the novel Wesel Pos. Based on the research findings, the novel Wesel Pos by Ratih Kumala highlights the importance of human relationships with God, specifically believing in God's plan and praying to Him, as well as the importance of human relationships with others, including togetherness, kindness, politeness, love, and cheating.

This study uses a psycholinguistic overview to investigate language development in 4 year old children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Direct interviews with interviewees were used in the qualitative research methodology of this study, and data came from interviews with biological mothers of children with ADHD. The data found from the interviews were then analysed based on psycholinguistic theory. The results of the research show that ADHD can affect the growth and development aspects of the sufferer, including the object of this research. ADHD can still be cured at the age of less than two years, by doing therapy to the doctor. ADHD children in this study experienced differences in growth and development before and after therapy. The role of parents is also important to support and support the process of growth and development of children.

This study aims to systematically examine the impact of using video in teaching Indonesian language at the elementary school level. Learning aids, including videos, are important resources that facilitate teachers in expanding students' knowledge and supporting the achievement of learning objectives efficiently. In the context of teaching Indonesian language, videos can improve students' communication skills, both in oral and written forms, and can increase appreciation for literary works. This study describes the influence of video media on learning Indonesian language in elementary schools based on the Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The use of video media can be used as an effective medium in learning activities. Learning that uses video media can be used as a reference for learning, and can improve student learning outcomes in boring learning.

Language is a system of vocal symbols used by humans in the communication process in everyday life. Speaking is a verbal communication process, so that the interlocutor can more easily understand the meaning conveyed. Children can learn to speak in two ways: first, by imitating the models they see, either from peers or from older people. Second, with training provided by adults through specific guidance and direction. Speech delay or delayed speech in children is a condition where the child's ability to speak is below the normal development stage according to their age. Children with speech delays have not achieved the language skills that should have been mastered at their age. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause speech delay, anticipatory steps taken by parents, and the benefits of these anticipatory efforts. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through listening and recording techniques. The results of the study indicate that there are four main factors that cause speech delay in children, namely because of the gap between children and parents, language delays influenced by gender, lack of attention from parents, and lack of care and interaction with parents. The anticipation carried out by parents is by providing daycare training to children. The benefit is that now the child has developed in his speaking process.

This study examines sigmatism, a speech disorder characterized by difficulties in pronouncing the phoneme /s/. A 20-year-old individual who has been experiencing sigmatism since the age of 5 serves as the case study. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data collection involves observation, recording, and note-taking during interviews. The research focuses on identifying the multifaceted factors contributing to sigmatism and the resultant phonetic variations. The findings indicate that a short tongue is a contributing factor to the sigmatism disorder in this case, leading to the production of /ch/ and /th/ sounds instead of /s/.

Indonesian language education in schools not only develops linguistic skills but also integrates ethical values to shape students’ character. This study examines how ethical content is embedded within Indonesian language curricula across elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels from a philosophical perspective, focusing on the dimensions of logic, ethics, and aesthetics. Using a qualitative approach with literature review, this analysis finds that the 2013 Curriculum (K13) explicitly incorporates moral and ethical values through core competencies and character education, while the Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes the Profil Pelajar Pancasila (Pancasila Student Profile) to foster virtuous character, critical thinking, and cultural appreciation. Logical reasoning is cultivated through language activities (e.g., argumentative writing and critical reading), ethical values are imparted via character-infused learning objectives and respectful communication norms, and aesthetic appreciation is developed through engagement with literary works. The integration of these philosophical dimensions in Indonesian language learning is intended to produce students who are not only linguistically competent but also morally upright and appreciative of cultural beauty. The findings highlight that effective Indonesian language teaching harmonizes truth-seeking (logic), goodness (ethics), and beauty (aesthetics) as fundamental educational values.

The kretek industry is one of the most important cultural and economic heritages in Indonesia, especially in the Kudus area, Central Java. Kretek cigarettes, a unique blend of tobacco and cloves, were first discovered as a medicinal herb by Haji Djamari in the late 19th century. This study aims to identify and analyze the cultural values contained in the folklore and review its relevance in children's literature education. The method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques in the form of observing and taking notes on the folklore text, data obtained from the book Cerita Rakyat Pesisir Timur by Muhammad Kanzunudin. The results of the study show that this story has a strong educational function and is able to shape the local cultural identity of children in Kudus. The conclusion of this study is that the story of the Origin of the Kretek Industry has a strategic role as a medium for learning cultural values and needs to be integrated into children's literature learning to preserve local cultural heritage.

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan strategi guru dalam menanamkan nilai sopan santun melalui pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SMP Negeri 2 Gading. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan desain studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi terhadap guru Bahasa Indonesia dan pembina kesiswaan kelas VII. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan enam strategi utama: keteladanan, pembiasaan dan tata tertib kelas, pemberian penghargaan dan sanksi edukatif, kegiatan keagamaan, pendekatan individual, serta pelibatan OSIS sebagai teladan. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa penanaman nilai sopan santun memerlukan pendekatan multi-strategis yang mencakup dimensi afektif, kognitif, sosial, dan spiritual. Kontribusi penelitian ini terletak pada penguatan pemahaman tentang integrasi pendidikan karakter dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dengan strategi yang kontekstual dan aplikatif di lingkungan sekolah. The low ability of students at MTs 45 Patihan in writing poster texts, caused by the use of conventional learning media, underlies this study. Canva was applied as an interactive medium through a quantitative pretest-posttest one group design involving 28 eighth-grade students. Data were obtained from questionnaires, tests, and observations, and analyzed using SPSS 25 with validity, reliability, normality, linearity, and t-test. Findings showed that the average pretest score of 63.82 with 35.71% mastery increased to 82.68 with 89.29% mastery in the posttest. The t-test confirmed a significant effect of Canva (sig. 0.000 < 0.05). Thus, Canva is proven effective in improving students’ poster-writing ability in terms of content, structure, and visualization, while supporting their cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development in Indonesian language learning.
