Abstract

Telkom University organizes an entrepreneurship program that serves entire students who want to start a business with a selection method to be incubated for one semester or more. Doing business for Student Entrepreneurship (SE) requires financial management expertise because it is very important to ensure that products are in line with expectations and efficient use of resources to maximize business profits. Financial skills are also important in running businesses. From that, the university holds learning finance management in the process of business incubation, but SE feels learning financial management is not interesting. Therefore, this research aims to discuss the needs of financial management for SE, lecturers, and universities with a qualitative approach through focus group discussion. The study's key findings are that SE needs to learn about financial statements. They also expect this to be done automatically on a digital basis that is easy to use, so entrepreneurial students can take advantage of the automatically generated data for proper decision-making and can focus on the creative and innovative aspects of the product. Financial apps for financial statements could potentially be made by digital software developers.

Abstract

Return migration is a topic of considerable interest in scholarly literature, with many studies suggesting that returning migrants can impact the economic development of their home country through capital accumulation and entrepreneurship. This study seeks to examine the entrepreneurial intentions of return migrants and the influence of formal education and training on their entrepreneurial tendencies. Utilizing data from the National Workforce Survey (Sakernas) in 2020 and employing logistic regression analysis, the study revealed that formal education tends to steer returning migrants towards the formal sector rather than entrepreneurship upon their return. Conversely, while training was found to potentially increase the likelihood of entrepreneurship, the effect was not statistically significant. Additionally, individual characteristics such as age, gender, and marital status were found to significantly influence entrepreneurial intentions, with older individuals, females, and married individuals exhibiting a higher propensity for entrepreneurship among return migrants. These findings contribute to the existing literature by highlighting that, on average, return migrants in Indonesia tend to have relatively low levels of education, and higher levels of human capital may diminish their interest in entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Anxiety levels among university students have long been a public health concern. The COVID-19 outbreak, and lockdown have swept the entire world and exacerbated students' stress and anxiety. This study investigates the correlation between independent variables (such as perceived stress, domestic violence, low self-esteem, strained familial relationships, financial constraints, and the presence of chronic diseases) and the dependent variable (anxiety) among university students during the COVID-19 epidemic. The researchers also intend to find out its impacts and provide suggestions on overcoming this issue. A total of 150 students from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) participated in the online survey via Google Form. The findings indicate a positive association between perceived stress and low self-esteem with anxiety. Consequently, individuals experiencing anxiety may encounter reduced motivation, lower productivity, suicidal tendencies, or the expression of suicidal thoughts, leading to a deterioration in mental and physical well-being, as well as a negative impact on academic performance. To mitigate these effects, it is recommended that students engage in regular exercise, ensure sufficient sleep, seek professional assistance, strengthen social ties, and adopt stress management techniques. Following these suggestions can help students alleviate stress and enhance their self-esteem.

Abstract

The paper industry faces constant challenges, requiring a workforce with strong adaptability and technical skills. Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd., a frontrunner in paper products, explores how training empowers employees and boosts performance. The objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of training and development programs in enhancing employee performance in Nippon Paper Industries. The study gathered quantitative data through online surveys that were administered to 150 employees selected via stratified random sampling. The findings indicate a strong positive correlation between training and development programs and employee performance. The majority of respondents reported the effectiveness of training programs in enhancing skills, boosting productivity, and reducing turnover. However, the alignment of training needs with organizational strategy was perceived as less effective, with a significant portion of respondents expressing neutral opinions. By implementing structured training programs and evaluating their effectiveness, organizations can enhance employee satisfaction, productivity, and retention

Abstract

The company's value is crucial as it reflects the company's performance, which can influence investors' perception of the company. The aim of this research is to determine the influence of profitability, company size, liquidity, and managerial ownership on company value in the automotive and component manufacturing sub-sector on the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) for the years 2017-2021. The population in this study consists of manufacturing companies listed on IDX from 2017 to 2021, totaling 13 companies, with a sample size of 12 companies selected through purposive sampling method. This study employed multiple linear regression analysis to investigate the factors influencing company value. The results reveal that profitability and managerial ownership have a positive and significant impact on company value, while company size has no significant effect. Interestingly, liquidity exhibits a negative and significant relationship with company value. These findings suggest potentially important areas for future research. Expanding the study to include additional variables, such as leverage, capital structure, and dividend policies, could provide a more comprehensive understanding of the determinants of company value.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the indicators of work life quality among employees at the Airport Management Unit (UPBU) Class 1 Mopah Merauke. A qualitative approach was adopted by collecting data from semi-structured in- depth interviews with 12 civil servants representing the administration sub- section, the technical operations section, the flight security section, as well as the service  and  cooperation  section. The research findings indicate that the first determinant of work life quality is the opportunity to use and develop expertise. Skill development is an essential factor to ensure the safety and efficiency of employee work. Without the proper skills, operations could be hindered. The second indicator is the condition of a safe and comfortable work environment. Safety and health are the top priorities at the airport. The third indicator is constitutionalism within the work organization. Legal protection and employees' rights are crucial, especially in a highly structured and high-risk environment like the airport. The other four indicators, although not primary, can influence employee job satisfaction at the airport, especially if the other factors are already satisfied. The results of this study provide valuable insights into the challenges faced by employees at UPBU and offer recommendations for further improvement.

Abstract

The study explores the impact of electronic word-of-mouth (e-WOM) on the decision- making process of registering for the AIESEC 2021 program. Conducted using a quantitative survey method, the research applies marketing communication theory to understand the influence of e-WOM on consumer behavior. Surveying 75 registrants from the UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta class of 2021, the findings reveal a significant and robust positive correlation (0.797) between e-WOM and registration decisions, as confirmed by the Product Moment Correlation Test. Additionally, the statistical significance of this relationship is supported by the t Test (p < 0.05), with the F Test indicating that e- WOM contributes significantly to decision- making, accounting for 62.9% of the variance. However, 37.1% of decision- making factors remain unexplored. These results highlight the pivotal role of e-WOM in shaping consumer decisions, particularly in the context of registering for programs such as JOIN AIESEC 2021. Understanding and leveraging e-WOM can thus be crucial for organizations seeking to enhance their marketing strategies and attract participants to their programs.
